    As a fellow installer/ upgrade guy myself, I say nice job with the ease of explaining!
    One issue i would bring up is..... the shorter the ground wire the better, and try not to run positive and neg next to each other. Some cheaper head units and amp's will produce (road noise) and thus is normally the reason why.
    I use the speaker wire, high input technique also, I hate to cut into factory harnesses!
    I'm about to install new speakers and a fosgate 4 channel soon myself!

      Good info Chris. We actually created a wiring kit to replace this method. It utilizes the factory plug about 6-8" upstream from the connectors shown in the video. The wire routes the speaker output from the head unit to the amp then from the amp output back over to the speakers. engineeredadapters.com/product/front-speaker-wiring-kit-for-amp-when-keeping-factory-radio

    I think I have it all ready. Arrives tomorrow....pulled Faring off today........
    THEN I came across this Video !!

      Patrick, I believe you will need to remove the factory speaker cups in order to accommodate the huge magnet on the Polk UM-series.

      Thanks. I had some old JBL'S in there. Wondered about "closed back" and porting. ...so their out.
      Polk says better with no backs/boxes. FYI, not a huge magnet! Big plastic enclosure has cross over in it.

    You should offer installs; I’d buy everything needed and pay you to install the map and new speakers

    Can you advise which wires are foe the front and rear speakers. I bought a used vaquero that the wiring is kinda jacked up with the old amp. I have completed the bag speaker install and I just need to know about the correct speaker wires. My front adapters should arrive today, thanks.

    I installed the 400 using the process you outline here, but it will not turn on the amp. The amp will turn on if I connect the remote wire directly to the battery. It will not turn on if I do not have the wire connected. Any suggestions? thanks!
    Scott

      The PBR300 is triggered by the stereo output when the stereo is turned on - IF it was connected using high-level inputs. If using low-level inputs (RCA) then the trigger wire must be connected.
      Just to walk through this - did you run the 12v HOT all the way to the battery as described, including a fuse? You said it will turn on so it sounds like you have it grounded properly. The green (trigger) wire needs to then connect to an ignition-activated source. These bikes have such a source already and very near the radio.
      On the left side of the bike there are two connectors. One is HOT on ignition, the other is ground. These accept bullet-nose connectors. They appear to accept huge spade connectors but it's actually two female bullet connectors - each (so 2 possible 12v hot female bullet and 2 possible ground female bullets). I don't recall the colors, so you'll need to check them with a meter as you don't want to accidental connect to ground. If it is hot (ONLY when ignition key is ON), then that's the one you want. It will trigger the amp to turn on when you turn on the bike. I hope that makes sense! If not, send me your contact via email and I can help troubleshoot. engineeredadapters@gmail.com

      @@bkbaltes92 in this video, we crimped terminals on the wires. We now make a wiring kit that is pre-terminated with the connectors you need. I hope that helps!

      @@EngineeredAdapters the adapters plug into the speaker connectors? Or is there another spot on the harness

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  19 дней назад

      @@bkbaltes92 The factory wires going from the head unit to the speakers have a connector about 6" from the speakers. This is the connector that our wiring kit uses.

    I see alot of these amps being installed on bikes but are they marine grade amps?

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  Год назад +1

      Marine grade electronics are often thought of as waterproof but that is definitely not the case. The priority for marine-grade electronics is actually to eliminate the chance of the electronics creating a spark. This is because boats have bilges which can collect fuel. A spark from a radio, for example, could spell disaster if it ignited the fumes from the fuel. To combat this, the PC boards have a coating. By default, this coating also helps resist moisture from getting to any of the board components. Any parts that are exposed, such as terminals, are usually coated with gold to reduce or eliminate corrosion.
      The amplifiers are often installed under the fairing and while they are not directly exposed to the elements, water can reach them through gaps around the headlight or other locations. Most of the amps installed are "power sport" amps which means they are made to resist vibration which is most often found on motorcycles or Side by Sides where that is not a concern in a car.
      Some have placed a flap over the top of their amp to help combat against any moisture reaching the electronics.

    Do you know if anyone makes a face plate to mount a single din radio and or a wiring harness? I know PAC electronics makes a module that can be used to retain the handle bar controls.

    • @EngineeredAdapters

      I make one!! I make several items for the Voyager and Vaquero including 6.5" speaker adapters for the dash (mentioned in the video), 6.5" speaker mounts for the saddlebags (fit Vaquero and 1500/1600 Nomads only) in a HiRise and LoRise version, the aluminum amp bracket shown in the video, radio faceplate covers (if you don't like the silver) as well as the singleDIN faceplate adapters to mount an aftermarket head unit!!

    This marine certified?

    • @EngineeredAdapters
      @EngineeredAdapters  5 лет назад +1

      I do not believe this amplifier is marine-grade. I've ridden in the rain many times using this amp with no issues. Same with my Kenwood 512BT radio which is also not marine-grade. It seems washing the bike is the bigger risk. I don't wash mine (Honda polish only) but if you do, you definitely need to be sure to not spray the water onto the radio, even marine-grade.
