I taught myself smiths in 3 steps. The first step was to stand on top of a 50-50 stall on the ledge and then move it to the smith position, this part taught me how I needed to shift my balance in order to hold the smith in place. Step two was then doing 50-50s to smith (it's like step one but now moving). Then the third step was learning how to ollie into the smith grind which was the easiest step to learn since I already knew how to position myself. That's it, then I did the same steps but backside and now back smiths are my favorite ledge trick to do.
I love getting to see how your back foot is positioned when you pop, It makes me feel good about (How I try) mine because I started doing Smiths while attempting front tails and the "heel control" feeling is weird but coupling this with leaning back already makes sense when I visualise it! I am super excited to go play tomorrow afternoon. Awesome channel, the growth is unreal! All the best to you and yours. Happy skating too!
Thanks man straight away I could see where I'm failing I've always been scared to grind with my weight above my heels I've always thought it was weight on toes
I remember in a Q&A a while ago Alex Olson was asked about smiths. He recommended leaning slightly back like a 5-0. That made total sense to me as every time I tried to smith I would fall out of it or the board would fall off the ledge, as my weight was centered over the board like a 5050
In the middle of watching your FS flip tutorial, and I got the notification for this. Just happen to be learning this trick right now, so thank you! Keep killing it 💪
Thank you for this video dude im trying to learn this today and im glad this really helped me. I landed a sketchy one today and wanna try it again tomorrow. Thanks and skate safe!
Oh man, really needed this. Been struggling with this for the past week. Kept getting stuck so I tried leaning back more and it just shoots out. Can't wait to try it tomorrow with a fresh head and your tips. Thanks!
Something I also noticed is, the hanger of the back truck doesn't tilt up like with a bar, because the top of the ledge obstructs it's movement, thus making it slightly taller/further away to stand on, locking less and also forcing the board to tilt to and angle, rather than the hanger.
bruh I have them every try on rails but on ledges I could never lmao. I never thought about my front wheels touching the ledge so I'm bouta try it fr you the goat!
Thanks for all the great content, I just had two requests; an updated bigflip video, as well as any tips you might have on popping higher tre flips, specifically timing them in order to get them over larger obstacles on flatground. Thanks in advance, your consideration and content are both greatly appreciated🙏
Great vid! Iv been doing this trick for years and those were all the issues I had.luckily when I learned this trick the ledge was super waxed! So I made it 3rd try.
Dude... I was watching an old Berrics Gram Yo Selfie with Tetra Media... and I was like that dude looks like the Skate Vegan without facial hair lmfao Wow dude lol I never realized that was you that's awesome
Eyal Dahan 52 seconds ago i can stand on a ledge/box and lean in a smith position. but i cant seem to lock in and slide correctly. i either lean in too forward and stick or lean too back and somesrt of wird 5-0 with an angle outwards from the ledge. any tips? is this like a leapslide going into the trick? how the fuck do you land this??? tahnks in advance to anyone answering! will return the favor on other tricks if needed!!

Keep up the hard work man! Love these videos they help so much
I accidentally did fs smith when doing a 50 50 so i learned a new grind and i got it consistent
Helps big time! Can't wait to put these into practice.

how to 5-0 to switch crooks or how to do those pivot combos
Was not expecting to see house park on your channel
Can you make a tutorial on sw heel manual/ landing flip tricks into manuals
fun physics factoid: because you can't put your weight over the ledge it's essentially impossible to hold this grind--unless you're on a curved ledge.
Try telling that to torey pudwill

Thank you. I love your videos
I learned smiths on ledges. By the time I tried on a rail, it was significantly easier.
Complete opposite for me i learned them on rail in 1 Day but im cant Do them on a curb -.-
I over do every trick on a curb before even try them on a real rail
Dang that ledge is buttery!
Dream trick! I've been practicing my 5050s, any other trick i need before trying this one?

He has another video on smith grinds for rails, that goes over the approach and pinch youre looking for. Goodluck with the smiths!

Comment for the algorithm
House
Boxes are much better to learn on they are forgiving if you fall you don't fall a long way. People don't lean into it enough.
This trick is so fun but I eat shit every time
This is a falling on your face trick 😬
