    Great video! Understanding how to spin the ball is the key to becoming a really good player. Learning the proper strokes, how to spin the ball, and applying the proper footwork are the core of table tennis. Players who master all three become the best players to watch playing the sport.

    The overview at the start doesn't make any sense. There are 3 dimensions in which spin can be applied to a ball:
    - Over the lateral axis (topspin or backspin)
    - Over the vertical axis (sidespin, in either direction)
    - Over the longitudinal axis (corkspin, in either direction)
    No spin is the absence of all 3, mixed spin is just the combination of 2/3 types of spin. Also note that it's impossible to inflict corkspin on a ball going forward without introducing a secondary type of spin.

    A ball can spin in any angle, it is rarely pure top-, side- or backspin. You need to angle your bat accordingly

    The are:
    1 Topspin
    2 TopSideSpin left
    3 TopSideSpin right
    4 Backspin
    5 BackSideSpin left
    6 BackSideSpin right
    7 LateralSpin left (wobble effect)
    8 LateralSpin right (wobble effect)
    (Lateral Spin is between TopSideSpin Left and BackSideSpin Right, while having a straight, forward motion)
    Lateral Spin can be achieved with long pimples and antispin, if you know how)
    9 No Spin.
    So, there are 8 Types of Spin and 1 No Spin.

    To me it makes no sense at all. What is the source you have to claim there are 6 spins in table tennis and what they are? Ok the number could be the thing I agree on.
    Every spin is a mixed spin plus you can’t mix topspin with backspin or right with left. I don’t think any professional would agree with you, sorry. I think there is top, back, side right, side left, cork right, and cork left, and that’s about 6. The axes are always mixed but not the directions of spin. No spins since the Name says it is no spin. I practice no spin is generally an overall term for a slowly rotating ball of any spin variation. And there is also the roll ball wich is the natural spin the ball gets by coming forward (a very light topspin in sync with the speed of the ball after the ball contacts the surface of the table).

    • @pingsunday
      @pingsunday  2 года назад +6

      No. Cork spin is the axe y. And side spin is the axe z on the 3d model.

    • @blueheart9873
      @blueheart9873 2 года назад +1

      They are both side spin, but cork spin is from "below" the ball and side spin is from the middle. The trajectories of the ball and reaction on your bat will be very different

Ball spins so hard it shoots out like a bullet and im not close to touch the ball. Thank you for the insipration coach😊 i go exercise on that spin right now 👍

    Develop a borderline illegal serve with variations; slightly illegal, moderately illegal and highly illegal. The variation on the legality will set you up for easy kills and drive your opponent insane.

  • @michaelchristensen8350
    @michaelchristensen8350 2 года назад +2

    There are only 4 types of spin. Top, Buttom, Left or Right. Unless you live in abother universe that has different physics than earth.

    • @rcbuggies57
      @rcbuggies57 2 года назад

      Not really, spin in table tennis is usually mentioned as the relationship between the axis of rotation of the ball to the table. the axis can be perpendicular to the surface in both directions (left and right sidespin), the axis can be flat and perpendicular to the length of the table (topspin and backspin), and the axis can be flat and parallel to the length of the table (left and right corkspin). And of course, no spin is technically "not spin", but with the tendency of a ball to naturally generate light topspin while driving, most people would consider light topspin as a ball without "spin". It's very akin to pitching in baseball. A knuckle ball has no spin, but is known as a very weird and unnatural pitch. A fastball is seen as the standard pitch, and will always have backspin.

    • @RobertoCostas

      And corkscrew left and right. And the combinations between those six types.

    • @zeuhnciean4161
      @zeuhnciean4161 2 года назад

      Technically there are infinite types of spin, because there are an infinite number of possible rotation axes in a sphere. You will never have pure top or back spin, unless you hit the ball in the ideal spot in an ideal straight line. But the categorization of 6 main types and mixes of these makes sense.
