Sometimes you can find good deals. Where in Canada are you? I’m right by the Quebec border and know of a lot of people that actually buy sleds in Quebec and bring them here because they are cheaper is what I’ve been told..
@@rockspowersportsI’m in the northern part of Nova Scotia and know that sled here would be waaaaay more than $600. Most would part it out before selling for $600
That is the weirdest thing when you put it in reverse, turn the engine backwards, i am a 65 year old mechanic and never even seen a snow mobile you learn something everyday cheers from OZ.
The first sled I ever drove was Ski-doo. My dad bought a 85 ski doo safari 377 brand new, That thing took a beating. Glad to hear your enjoying the videos’s.
Definitely caught me off guard when it fired up! Right before that it showed no signs of life, all I did was pull plugs/check compression/ index plugs then it fired right up on the first pull.. I was glad just not expecting that.
@ I was like dang wasn’t expecting that… I’ve had a few of those moments your like what, how huh then scratch ur head and say alright it’s not blowing up so I’m good
That sled should idle at 1200 give or take 50 rpm in my experience with those. If it won’t there’s something up with it. Nice video these are a great watch
I would fix and sell the newer sleds vs parting them out because they should be easier to sell compared to the older sleds. With the older sleds you have compare what your time and replacement parts would cost vs what it would sell for it . being that the other sleds are older and probably less desirable vs a newer sled to most people
Hey Rock, congrats on the new addition to the household! I do have an atv question if you don't mind. I've always liked the Suzuki 250/300 quadrunner and it's Arctic Cat brother, I currently have a 2005 Arctic Cat 250. If you had to chose a machine that would be relatively bulletproof, with the correct maintenance, what would it be? I wish I still had a sled in my life. My 73 Bombardier TNT 340 was a wicked fast sled with zero suspension. You ride the trails with older sleds, just like older motorcycles. Thanks for all the great content!
Thank you, I appreciate you watching! It’s hard to beat those old Suzuki 250’s for reliability. My cousin use to have a 03 Arctic cat 250 4x4 pretty much the same as the old Suzuki Quadrunner 250 with all the levers, Only thing the cat lacked was the differential lock. He was so hard on that thing and it just kept going, and when I say hard I mean hard lol.. the Honda foreman’s were reliable along with Yamaha’s big bears. Was your TNT 340 a free air engine?
@rockspowersports it was a free air. I miss that thing, but here in Missouri, we rarely get snow to last more than a day. This year, we still have ice pack from early January.
Pretty sure you could get a recoil from another machine and rig it up to use cheap for testing and moving the units around, just need to pull the muffler to install.
There is an aftermarket company that make a recoil kit for these for around $100. You’re probably right, I should get one and keep it in the shelf specifically for testing.
Hey rocks. Have you ever worked on a 2018 Polaris Phoenix 200? Not much info out there. I’d be happy to trade knowledge for knowledge on repairing that jd 316 you have with the surge. I might be in over my head with this atv rebuild.
I think it’s worth more fixed than it is parted out. With today’s market, I’m not sure where you’re finding them that cheap but I know they’re not that cheap in Canada for non-running parts machine machines lol
They are worth more in parts down in the U.S. We have not had any real snow in what feels like an eternity. It's like trying to sell an igloo to a Mexican.
so, the reason brp bought out omc/evinrude was because they wanted the injector system to adapt to their snowmobiles. Then they discontinued omc. what a shame. Now the injectors need to be coded to the new ecm also. If not yyou will never run right throughout the rpm range and normally will not even start. each injector has a code square you can do with your phone and then transfer that code to the ecm. cyl 1 to cyl 1 and 2 to 2.... My outboards will not spark or run until i get that part done.
The machines you want to part out would sell for $2000 minimum in lower ontario canada pluss what you pay for part machines are crazy cheap compared to where I live
Those 600 etec act strange when the plugs go bad. My 2012 flowed the plug it act strange wouldn't start. Fast forward 10 years later 2021 600etec started acting the same way I knew right what it was swap the plugs was good to go
FIX THEM BOTH AND BUILD A HEATED SHOP THIS SUMMER EASY FIXES OF COURSE YOU WANNA FIX THEM THEY WERE DIRT CHEAP GREAT SLEDS TEN TIMES BETTER THAN POLARIS
Fix the black one scrap the red one.. done be that guy that lets things rot in to the ground buddy.. lol cool video just curious do you have any up coming videos on a Polaris sportsman 570
Rock, was thinking of getting a buds system. To add keys and check codes. I went on Amazon and they have different levels of programmers. Can activate modules and checks with basic Buds and is there a subscription?
I would prefer simpler engines but the chassis on the new sleds are light years ahead of sleds from 15 years ago. You can thank the EPA for a lot of this, that and the manufactures trying to squeeze 165+ HP out of twins.
As a Canadian. I want to be an AMERICAN For the Cheap Used Sled Prices!! 600 bucks!! WOW.... Just WOW!!.. Thats a 3500 dollar sled up here in Canada.

Wow alright!!!!! Abunch of buisness with no help for parts and lots of phishing! Bullshit place!
Same here in British Columbia, all power sports are expensive, old ATVs as well
Same in Ontario. Guys are parting out sleds newer and in better shape than mine.
Thats why i like your videos u take time and talk things through and show things that u do to these machines thanks for your time and patience
You get some great deals but your ability to diagnose where others have failed is amazing.
Love theses “part sleds” vids
Glad to hear it!
That is the weirdest thing when you put it in reverse, turn the engine backwards, i am a 65 year old mechanic and never even seen a snow mobile you learn something everyday cheers from OZ.
Yea they got rid of the mechanical reverse in sleds years ago. Always found it weird too. lol.
It is a strange concept to spin the engine backwards for reverse.
It was the threat of making it a parts rig. It wants to be ridden
That could be it haha
Best part is as soon as you say parts sled it started that was perfect 😂
When it started up I kinda thought that's too good to part out. LOL then you said I don't know what to do now. I say fix both! LOL
I probably will fix both, they both certainly have potential.
I agree with a few of the comments fix and flip it! Good buy though. Without buds you would have never got it started.
You’re right about that, with the ecm change it would have never started without pairing it.
Hey Rock and family congrats on your new baby
Thank you sir!
Fix the low mileage sled. High mile sleds are hard to sell, unless you give it away, in Michigan even if the engine has been rebuilt.
Appreciate u thinking of us other sled brand lovers, I'm a big time Ski Doo fan . Been loving the videos man, awesome job.
The first sled I ever drove was Ski-doo. My dad bought a 85 ski doo safari 377 brand new, That thing took a beating. Glad to hear your enjoying the videos’s.
So happy to see another video
Fix it. Those 600 etecs run forever. Great sled and a steal of a deal you got on it 👍
Hey rock thanks for the video looks like you have your hands full. Have a great day
What a deal, $2500 and up down here!
Awesome videos as usual! Keep up the good content!
Love the videos. Good luck deciding what to do with them. I would have to fix them all, and then try to figure out which ones to sell.
Glad to hear you enjoy the videos. Still up in the air but will probably fix both.
Its hard to sale sleds you put work into i keep them all lol you bought that for a steal love the videos!!
Find a arctic-cat to work on. Great video I like the software you can diagnose with.
Great video rock good score on that sled
Thanks for watching, I think it was a good deal!
Wishing we had the snow here in central Wisconsin
I wished we had more than what we do have.. but I guess I shouldn’t complain, ive seen places in Alaska right now that don’t have any snow..
What a deal wish I could find a e tech that cheap
That BUDS system is neat! I’m sure it wasn’t cheap, but what a nice tool to have!
Yeah it wasn’t to cheap i bought it a few years ago for around $800 I think. Plus you have to renew the license every year which cost quite a bit.
Awesome video rock…seemed like it caught you off guard when it first started 😂
Definitely caught me off guard when it fired up! Right before that it showed no signs of life, all I did was pull plugs/check compression/ index plugs then it fired right up on the first pull.. I was glad just not expecting that.

I’m sure it could use fresh fuel/fuel filter/ spark plugs and then it’d probably run a whole lot better
Cool sled, I never seen one before.
I would fix and sell the newer sleds vs parting them out because they should be easier to sell compared to the older sleds. With the older sleds you have compare what your time and replacement parts would cost vs what it would sell for it . being that the other sleds are older and probably less desirable vs a newer sled to most people
I agree, they are both worth fixing.
You’ve got a good sled collection going on.
Starting to have one.
Love your videos question is JLO rockwell good engine 340
Beautiful!!

Get a Honda.
Fix everything and now the Gibbs on turning into something you don't want to part out I agree
If it runs and drives why not fix it??? 😅😅😅 great video 👍👍👍 Blessings 🙏🙏🙏
I probably will.
WOULD MAKE A GREAT SLED FOR ICE FISHING ,,NICE SLED MAN HERE IN CANADA ITS A 3,000 DOLLAR SLED SHE RUNS PRETTY DAM GOOD

Great videos! Just realized your in IP . Hello from Glover VT. I rode SXS to IP last summer. Keep on doing videos!
Fix it. And sell it. You videos are great.
Probably should. And thanks!
Better off fixing them both since they both run👍
I think it’s worth more fixed than it is parted out. With today’s market, I’m not sure where you’re finding them that cheap but I know they’re not that cheap in Canada for non-running parts machine machines lol
Sled prices this year have come down quite a bit. This was a good deal that you don’t see everyday, but those deals are out there.
They are worth more in parts down in the U.S. We have not had any real snow in what feels like an eternity. It's like trying to sell an igloo to a Mexican.
Great channel.
Glad to hear that, Thanks for watching.
Wild the price difference of stuff here in canada... that thing cleaned up running good is 4500-5000 all day in ontario we get so fucked 😂
Why not put a little bit the gas down the spark plug hole sometimes it needs that
so, the reason brp bought out omc/evinrude was because they wanted the injector system to adapt to their snowmobiles. Then they discontinued omc. what a shame. Let's see a series where you clean this up. Your cost to entry is do low here
Rock , put your hood on brother , I hate seeing you get hammered by snow 😂
Very educational video
Thanks, glad you think so.
The machines you want to part out would sell for $2000 minimum in lower ontario canada pluss what you pay for part machines are crazy cheap compared to where I live
On these newer sleds is that brand specific for the plug indexing? Can you use a drill to crank the engine over
Those 600 etec act strange when the plugs go bad. My 2012 flowed the plug it act strange wouldn't start. Fast forward 10 years later 2021 600etec started acting the same way I knew right what it was swap the plugs was good to go
Other than the colour, its identical to my 2013 Renegade ACE 4stroke
They never should have introduced computers into snowmobiles
Right on, great buy. I have two 2018 renegade 600 carbs and they are killer sleds. Bullet prof 👊
I’m in Michigan and people here want $3000 for a sled like that with a blown up motor!!
Fix them both. Love the vids buddy keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
I say keep and fix them ride them and then make a profit to buy more!
Haha theses parts machines are too good for parts rock! 😂
For goodness sake spend $40 and put a pair of plugs in it I bet it would run amazing if indexing is so important then put some new plugs in lol
Now that it’s running I don’t mind throwing $40 worth of plugs in it.
Good deal!
Should never tie down the throttle. With the track still on the ground. Ask my cousin why! 🏃🌳💥
No spark plugs in it when the throttle was open. But yes I know exactly what you mean.
def fix it lol imagine the productivity increase if you didnt have to work one handed lol
I could get a lot more done using 2 hands and not making videos lol
@@rockspowersports videos are great brother don't stop think of the people lol
👍🏻👍🏻
You sure get some sweet deals !!
Not always but sometimes I’ll make out good. Took a chance on this one, turned out to be good though.
I like your video I watched all of your videos and your very educational and a good small engine mechanic. A little less talk please.
this sled looks like a great candidate to fix and flip. hurry before winter is gone.
Right! When Winter is over so is the demand for these things.
@@rockspowersports Up here in New England we forget what snow is. We haven't had good sledding weather in at least 5 years maybe even 8.
Nope I don't think she's a parts rig lol and I was yelling at ya to tap on the solenoid and then try to start it
FIX THEM BOTH AND BUILD A HEATED SHOP THIS SUMMER EASY FIXES OF COURSE YOU WANNA FIX THEM THEY WERE DIRT CHEAP GREAT SLEDS TEN TIMES BETTER THAN POLARIS
Diagnostics on a freaking snowmobile yeah whats the problem with the snowmobile world gee i wonder!

No inline spark tester? Keep up the vids man!
Its a year younger than me
not a part's sled now lol
Could you get the rope to catch better with a small noght at the end of the rope to catch one of the grooves
I bought a 2005 Mach z. 1000 for five hundred dollars it needs a starter and a fuel pump
That’s a steal!
Yeah it's going to need a lot of work
It runs. Quick button it up and go ride lol. Cool sled. Not much for them me personally. I do enjoy a good 2 stroke motor
fix all the things!

Dame you were right they start eazy.
I say fix it and sell it for more
What was your first machine
My first sled was a 1976 Polaris TX340, fast little sled.
No Ski-Doo is a part sled...whatever is the condition
I'd say fix it.
Every time I take off a clutch it takes Hulk strength. This one almost falls off.
This one did come off very easy.. maybe it’s been off recently from previous owner.
Why parts machine looks great hope it works
Buddy you talk to mush at the beginning of your video you remind me of a politician.
#1
Runs at 500 psi fule pressure fyi
I am ready for spring.
Wonder if it's stolen?
Ha, you threatened by it with being a parts machine. Then it starts right up. 😂
Fix them both
Strap is the tool, not pullcord😊
Cool
Parts parts parts some nice sleds but all you want are parts blah
I got a 2003 polaris sportsman 500 with 1700 mile on it if anyone is interested located in ohio
Fix them all!
Just a comment
Remember when sleds didn't need all those BS computers. So much easier to work on and you didn't need a laptop
I like working on the older ones more due to that reason.
I would prefer simpler engines but the chassis on the new sleds are light years ahead of sleds from 15 years ago. You can thank the EPA for a lot of this, that and the manufactures trying to squeeze 165+ HP out of twins.
