Man, I have learned so much from just watching your videos! I'm only a 1+ year tree removal guy that fell into the industry due to Hurricane Michael (panhandle of Florida). Trust me, I wouldn't try any of this on my own, if it wasn't for a very talented 30 year climber I'm partnered with. Between working with him, and honestly, watching your videos, I've learned a tremendous amount about the art of what you guys do. I've also learned that it's very hard work, extremely dangerous, and requires an enormous amount of skill and technique. If it weren't for the telecom career I'm 20+ years into, I would love to try it full time. Please, don't stop making the videos, they are awesome!
As a homeowner it must be hard to have to let a tree like that go. And really hard to swallow the bill for doing so. I understand why it needs to be done. And I am glad that there are people like you who can do it safely.
Quite the artist! I guess your skill and precision and attention to detail with the trees translated into your video skills. Always a pleasure to watch and appreciate.
I love how you stage the early cuts on the ground to be a catch/cradle for that last big trunk cut and it falls in complete obedience across there! Watching these vids, and then watching some of the “tree cutting fail” vids, has me observing their lack of technique and saying out loud, “duuuude, that’s going to fall RIGHT on your house cutting it that way” - and it does. Learned so much about safety and proper cutting from watching these vids.
Love the videos! I was a logger years ago and have felled thousands of trees and dozens of urban trees. You have a great team and are spot on. Awesome to watch what you do. 👍
I used to live west of you in Brookings. I made many pieces of mission style furniture from black oak. Nice looking when milled up the the grain of the wood could take on a mind of it's own. I believe that most of that black oak got milled into flooring for that reason. Kinda miss Southern Oregon.... BTW great video with a super sound track!
"Hooter of a tree....." 😉 "I'm sure you know if you know and if you don't know you don't know....." 😜 Some really fantastic video and editing August. I really liked the shots of the crane picking while Joe was in the other side getting his cuts rigged out. Another great video showing a great crew getting it done. Huge props and respect to you and your crew August. You, Damien, Joe, Jeff, Wyatt and anyone else who was there, keep yourselves safe! 😎👍❤️🌲 Randy
Love watching you guy's work August. It's no doubt you have a great crew . It's not just a job, it's tree life and it show's. Loved the in tree coffee delivery too. Awesome job!!!
It was a pleasure to see such exceptional arboring, with proper procedures, proper personal protective equipment and overall safety......an excellent example of professional workmanship and overall quality assurance......well done to the company and its excellent employees....!
I haven’t commented in a while. But I haven’t missed a video. And it never gets old watching you guys. You guys really are the dream team! August you must be proud and you have been extremely blessed. Keep doing what you do 👍🏻
Greetings from germany! Like the Ax 19 and the new Vermeer ctx. Nice job ! Crane is in my " to do list " .... stay save and buissy my friend and say " hey " to Everybody , speciell greetings to you and your Dad ! Keep it running my friend
Some of the worst cottonwoods Ive done was where all the backyards of the homes met each other along this old road easement. MASSIVE poplar along it and every yard weeping directly into them.
I work for a company who gets millions every year & yet we do not have anywhere near the equipment you guys have. I'll need to be having a word. Looks class
If that flue is venting a wood burner then you have made this customer doubly happy. A few days work and there’s enough quality firewood to heat that house for five years or so. And great chain tech talk. Knowledge is king.
Big trees like that are getting rare out in the wild. Urban environments are becoming where you find them. Great job on safety and bringing it down. Like your videos.
My old ground guy Bill could tie a coffee cup on my climbing line no sweat using a couple half hitches. Works mint even with those cheap paper cups. Monster of a tree crane worthy for sure.
Masterful editing and rich in great hidden detail. Every video is a vignette into your team’s purposeful, quiet, inner strength showing mindfulness with humble intent!
Rather nice you are going half's with the young man with the new saw well done mate perfect example of the understanding and compassionate employer tip of my hat to you August good sir thanks for sharing mate nice
Nice job! How many hours did it take, and how much did you price the tree at? I'm curious if your prices are similar to ours in upstate NY. Love all your videos!
The 462c is a bad ass saw! Your an awesome employer and you finished the job despite running behind schedule. God works all things for the good of those that love Him.
Another great video from the MB Team. I am curious about the attachments I am seeing on the top arm of some Unicenders. If you have already discussed them could you point me to which video, please? They look a lot more rope friendly. [edit] I found the Drum. Keep up the good work, both tree and other :) and stay safe.
What were the two little v-cuts in the tree at 8:40? To stop the safety rope from moving? Nice timber towards the base of the tree. Great video, effects and soundtrack.
Hi August. Could you please make a video about what the man in the tree is doing while branches are lowered to the ground? Do he climb up the trunks himself to anchor the tree or is he lifted up?
Would love to hear more about how you like to have a saw set up. I'm a landscaper in NH and we do some pruning but nothing on the scale you operate at. I run a husky 562xp with a 20" bar and a old 44 with a 15" bar. I couldn't tell you what I have for chain currently. Your insight on how you choose what you do I would find very interesting
What is the device Damien is climbing with single rope? Is it specially made for srt? Don't need a rope wrench? Nice video! Always cool to see some prep work from the climber. How he gets the rigging rope up there etc....
I enjoy your videos and learn from your techniques, although I will never climb, I'm too old. On this one I really really liked the music, especially the first portion. Thanks for posting your videos.
No, we know what they weigh based on picking things up with the skid steer. Skid steer picks up 1000 pounds so we just count up how many skid steer sized pieces are in a pick.
Seems like most the trees up there are vertical kinda makes it easy to pick with the crane. I wish the trees down here or in Florida were like that but the trees up there are a lot taller also
i witnessed a similar take-down here in germany years ago...space was so cramped, barely nothing fitted in there, yet they managed to take it down with no damage at all...cheers and all
As always, a great video. I kept having this feeling that Clint Eastwood would make a guest appearance. I stumbled on Damien's video first. Then yours back to back. Enjoyed seeing them this way. I want some Dutch Brothers Coffee lol closest one to me is almost 80 miles away from me. Thanks for the video.
August any chance of coordinating a working vacation in the future? NO I am not an RUclips stalker. LOL I have a small tree service constituting just me. I have been having a hard time finding decent ground crew, but I would like to spend a week climbing per your way and learning how to grow my company into something that I can be proud of. Ideally training the younger folk in the tree climbing industry and starting a sustainable high quality furniture company,
This video creates a sense of reverence for the tree. Such a massive living organism handled so professionally. Also the editing is amaze balls! Seriously, when the earth is about t explode, these videos need to be included in Earth Ark.
Great video Guys! I always see a idea/tip within your video's that helps me when I'm climbing or working. Appreciate y'all. Im in the need for new boots. Any recommendations on tree climbing boot and spur climbing boot? Thanks August.
Way to get it done in one day 💪 try to feed brush from the drivers side with the mini skid, the grapple spin works better that way. Obviously if the site permits. Be well MB Crew
Fantastic edit. Sometimes simple is easier on the 👀. Its not working man blues or X video, but the quality is just as good. Tnx for bringing us along for the ride. Happy Holidays ery1.
The other day I was clearing some brush and "junk" saplings in the woods around my house and accidentally included a perfect little 5" x ~20' tall Oak that would have become a beautiful mature tree to enjoy. I "grieved"/obsessed over the loss for a day or two, then it hit me -- Jonah's gourd plant i.e. there are more important things in this world to be worried/concerned about.

I hope those big sections end up on a sawmill. That would make some beautiful lumber.
They will

i just had 2 oaks removed a week ago, one about that size and one larger. now the yard feels naked and my savings account is is alot lighter lol

Insane, how tiny some of those picks look until they get to the ground! Those were some big picks August!
Big tree it was 👍

"Coffee Run" whole new perspective. Septic tank, of course it's a 6 ft tree.
Haha ya
1:17+ Thanks for the lesson and insights! ... and congratulations to Wyatt on the saw and for working for such a boss... great video.
I haven’t commented in a while. But I haven’t missed a video. And it never gets old watching you guys. You guys really are the dream team! August you must be proud and you have been extremely blessed. Keep doing what you do 👍🏻
That's exactly what I was thinking too. As I do every time I watch their videos...
this tree came down with dignity. This video pays utmost respect!!

All those picks looked very smooth. Great teamwork.
Bi-Polar Oak from sucking up the septic for years I'll bet. Grammy win for the soundtrack (Uncredited). Nice going.

@4:00 your music is awesome. 5/4 timing. Delicious to interested ears.
Great video editing, it was like watching a ballet. Your crew is so professional you make the work look easy.

It looked like he chippered most of it, and the big ones go to a Sawyer?
Nice work, gentlemen!
Tell the homeowner to clean the leaves outta his roof valley and that other roof.
HA!
Majestic crane and coffee work lads 👍
Big trees like that are getting rare out in the wild. Urban environments are becoming where you find them. Great job on safety and bringing it down. Like your videos.
Black oak
August Hunicke/ was in too big of hurry to watch the video and didnt catch that! Still an awesome tree. Keep em coming!
Awesome as always. Nice first saw as well. Keep up the good work, love learning from you and your crew.
Steve
Lots of good firewood in that tree!
That tree was beastly! Fine job of bringing it down.
Damnit man, such a nice edit. This isn’t just arborist work, this is art.
My old ground guy Bill could tie a coffee cup on my climbing line no sweat using a couple half hitches. Works mint even with those cheap paper cups. Monster of a tree crane worthy for sure.

This was a Steven Spielberg prodution
The music and removal of tree together was exceptional

Nice and safe great job.
Hi August.

Multi-talented you are, precise arborist as well as a great video editor!
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for another great job, August. 😃👌👏👏👏👏
Drinking tea watching the video listening to some of the mellowest music you have ever used on a video August 👍
Thanks, long time commenter 👊🏼😎
Very relaxing watch -nice teamwork!
Excellent audio accompaniment, what pros alround !
Great job. Too bad that trunk couldn't be sent to the lumber yard. All that wood would make such beautiful furniture.
It will
Good Job August and everyone ( Dead Tree Hugger Man ) ty nice video Ron
Love the music with this one. Sounds like some Radio Head. The work was cool to watch as always.
Great soundtrack!
loving the flicker of the fireplace through the door and the crow calling out and the rest of the vid of course.. nice job ..nice new saw too.
Such a humble teacher not a boss and i think that is the definition of a friend??
Dutch Bro Coffee Crane Delivery. Love it. I like to see that full wrap on the 462. Nope, it's a good excuse to keep your saw out of the dirt. lol
True
Would you show how you attach the crane rope to the big limbs for your lifts? Thanks

Just awesome as usual. Thumbs up!
Takes good equipment and good people to do good work!
Thanks August, hope you, your family, and staff have a great Christmas, and prosperous New Year. Cheers!
That was very professional operation there!
How to figure out log weights on broadleaf picks like these? Do you just work within a 50% safe working load?
No, we know what they weigh based on picking things up with the skid steer. Skid steer picks up 1000 pounds so we just count up how many skid steer sized pieces are in a pick.
Seems like most the trees up there are vertical kinda makes it easy to pick with the crane. I wish the trees down here or in Florida were like that but the trees up there are a lot taller also
Great job! Such a shame to see a nice tree like that go. Tell Damian to put his chin strap on ;p
Very professional equipment, fun to watch you guys!

Great team effort. That was a monster.

I quit drinking the stuff like 70 or 80 or something days ago. 😁
Questions please....
* Why do you prefer 063 gauge bar/chain (vs. 050)?
* Is that 1/2" pressure treated plywood? .... Thank you!
063 has thicker drivers, (more stable and better wear, but takes more power to cut) (.050 takes less power but is best for limited applications)

I’m not really set up for that. Besides we’re probably better on RUclips than we are in real life.
That tree was a beast!!! Very cool to see it coming down with the crane and with Joe!! Job well done boys keep up the good work!💪💪😁
This video creates a sense of reverence for the tree. Such a massive living organism handled so professionally. Also the editing is amaze balls! Seriously, when the earth is about t explode, these videos need to be included in Earth Ark.
hahaha
Really nice edit August
the music kinda reminded me of an old western , mixed with flamenco style .. awesome ..
A Ghost town- Quincas Moreira. Lovely music as is Damians music on his vid...
Are any of the sections of big wood ever hauled off for milling? The trunk and other two sections looked very clean.
Ya this was saved for the mill
Good work as always August.
Great video Guys!
I always see a idea/tip within your video's that helps me when I'm climbing or working. Appreciate y'all. Im in the need for new boots. Any recommendations on tree climbing boot and spur climbing boot?

White lineman. Thanks
You kicked butt on that piece of wood.
Music almost put me to sleep nice job 😎👍

WOW, That thing was a freaking monster! excellent job y’all did!
Watching your videos is my favorite thing to do on my lunch break!🙌💜
One of the best videos you have ever put together. The music and editing/timing are excellent.

Great Video Man the skills Lol August did your Truck sell yet ??
Not yet
@@AugustHunicke If i had that kind of $ i would in a heartbeat ,kinda surprised actually .Hey brother much respect to you and your crew .
August, I love your work. Video and Poplar. :)
Must be a fine line editing how much of that Oakwood got processed with grandpa Hunicke in the audience.
That would be a life time of fire wood...you guys are most definitely the dream team

With music like that you can make videos more than forty minutes long. Nice video.
Great job. question, how do would you have done the job if the Crane wasn't available?
