I used to coach high school baseball, and we called three pitches/three outs a steak dinner: if you could finish an inning with three pitches and get three outs, you would get a steak dinner. We had a kid who really couldn't break a pane of glass on the hill to just get some work. He gave up leadoff single on the 1st pitch, next pitch was a double play, and the third pitch of the inning was I believe a fly ball out. Three pitches, three outs. The coaching staff was beside themselves, but the kids were perplexed as to why we were so ecstatic. Unfortunately for Robbie, we live in a very rural area and couldn't stop anywhere on the bus ride back to buy him a steak dinner, but we all told the kid he could eat whatever he wanted at the local Hardee's and we would pay for it. I hope at this point in his life he's telling his kids about the time he pitched a steak dinner inning.
A kid (10u) I coached several years ago had a 9 pitch, 9 strike inning and I was the only one that thought it was amazing. Didn't know it was dubbed an immaculate inning.
A 'nine strike inning' isn't an 'immaculate inning'.....An Immaculate inning is getting all 3 outs by striking out all 3 batters using the least number of pitches possible, which is nine. The seeming lack of break on the back door slider is at least partially due to the camera angle from left center. But also def a bit flatter and lower spin rate. Never understood why this wasn’t a more popular pitch due to the nice variance from the normal dirt/away breaking stuff. I guess it’s just an insanely hard pitch to locate and missing over the plate is costly.
Yeah this isn’t mentioned enough but angle makes lefties glove side look diff from righties glove side unless adjusted. Righty glove side is exaggerated and lefty glove side looks backed up. Like part of why a lefty often looks to be behind a lefty hitter with a slider is the angle.

I wonder how much of this, in this case, is due to the camera angle coming from a bit left of center field. The break would seem more accentuated as you throw closer to the lefty batter’s box.
No it’s pretty clear one is the spinning back door slider that doesn’t break much. Remember that ridiculous SI article they had about it? The gyro ball? The other one he really snaps and gets a ton of late break on. That’s not cameras angles my dude
I think the reason the outside sliders look so flat is due to the offset on the camera. Because it's set to the pitcher's right, left-breaking pitches set on the right side of the plate lack the depth from that perspective. If the pitches were going straight they'd trail to the right visually. That lack of movement is actually the bend in the pitch.
He threw change ups to lefties and sliders to righties. The change moves glove side, sliders move arm side. Plus you can literally see the catcher call for a change against the second batter and Jimmy missed it.
