You've convinced me to finally try the pen pressure feature for my line art. I always was afraid it would ruin it with the inevitable size variations, but your drawing looks great so I'll try it out. Thanks!
Actually all of them. I'm trying to convert my children's books/animations into coloring books. You were very helpful and I'm lovin' ClipStudio! Again, Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
Oh yeah. I tried CSP because I thought the workspace looked really nice in speedpaints. When I tried the free trial I was so scared of all of the options and such. My old programs were very basic. Once I learned my way around (like 10 minutes later), I said screw it and bought the one-time purchase. About two months later I bought the one time for EX as well. I will never turn back. The best art program I've ever seen and used.
@@meowbo0 it’s AMAZING right!! It has so much to offer instead of only just a few basic features, which is daunting at first but once you get a good workflow going for what you want to achieve, it’s SUPER enjoying to use!!!!
As a traditional artist first, I thought lineart skills could transfer over to digital… I was severely mistaken and it feels like I’m relearning line art for a different medium
Being only in my first year of digital, thank you for these tips, the zoom in too close was a new tip for me and must say something i found myself doing a lot and not for the better was zooming too close. Also found the block in area and at converging lines is a new one too, cant wait to try. I have learned cool things form this and other videos you have made making my digital art journey just that little bit easier so i thank you!🐱👤
Your line art tips help me so much, in this video specifically the one about not zooming in too much and using only one brush size cause those are the ones that I've been loosing out on for the longest time haha, thank you so much for the amazing video!
For me, with blurring the line art, I've fallen in love with duplicating my line layer and then setting it to multiply, then add Gaussian blur. Like 1-2% Then I'll tweak the opacity of the lines and blurred lines depending on how I want it
I've been searching for specific CS paint tips for a couple days now and this tutorial has the most useful info packed into it with perfect visual examples and great explanations. Thank you so much for this!
Thank you so much, this helps! I only JUST began learning how to use CSP and my artwork is pretty simplistic right now, although I'm happy with it. I haven't learned Vector Layers yet, so that's my next step!
No problem! Definitely a lot of compact info in this video. I think of it like studying, you may need to review a concept (or in this case the video) more than once to really take it all in. Maybe even take notes! Lol.
I am a hardcore Procreate user, I used CSP before I really got into Procreate, but man, watching how easy the line thickness adjustment, which i knew about, but seeing it is really making me consider it. I can forsee my future of Procreate to CSP to Photoshop LOL
@@Shyfoxx no I totally get it! I have been learning some rendering from a few artists and a ton of them do line work in csp and then color and rendering in ps. I have applied *similar* processes into my work on procreate but still haven't tried ps.
Great video thanks for sharing, I've been looking for a vector line art program, going to give Clip Studio a try. Currently I'm using Blender for 2d line art because it offers 100% non-destructive strokes, but Blender is cumbersome and hard to use.
Awesome! If you're using CSP, I highly recommend getting to know the tools I have in my other video about lineart in CSP! Happy drawing! ruclips.net/video/rYY8eBwFVqc/видео.htmlsi=x_Jp5fX_MlIZL2Yj
I didn't know that it was possible to change the line style in csp by selecting another pen type afterwards. Thanks for saving me the time to find my favorite line style by drawing the same thing over and over 😁👌🙈
honestly dint expected too much before see this video [i see a lot of videos about line art that dont teach nothing usefull] but it was incredibly good, I have learned several things! thanks for this
I love that "Before and... AFTER!" lol, I thought there's some kind of magic happening. But yes, that was the part I've been struggling - to which area should I make thick and thin lines, since I'm just making the lineart using the mouse, so some of this will be kinda difficult to be done for me, specially since my mouse gets shaky some time. Also there's this strange cut at the one part of your video, I just don't know when, but it's near the end. Anyway, thanks for this tips, it is really helpful for me. :)
Yeah the the strange cut was accidental. I just say 'pen' at that part. Mouse art is really hard to do because it takes so much longer. Have you considered getting a basic tablet? I feel like for most people there really isn't any reason not to buy a cheap one if you are serious enough to be watching tutorials. Because any tablet would be 100x better than a mouse. But maybe that's just my opinion!
@@Shyfoxx no your right, I'm saving up to buy a cheap tablet. I'm even considering the optical pen because it's much much cheaper, but since it's not good for a lefty like me, it looks like I can't use it. So I'm back at my plan on having tablet. :)
Nothing wrong with having a style though! Heavy lines can look amazing in the right style/right art piece when it's intentional! (Maybe accidental as well, who knows!)
Hai Shyfoxx, I have just started drawing again and learning from amazing videos like these (thank you so much). I was wondering though, when should I or Shouldn't I draw in pixel or vector. I know that vector is easily resized, but I have been drawing in pixel most of the time, could you tell me what you think the pros en cons are and in which situation you would choose vector or pixel art?
Personally the blocking in connected areas help with filling color, so you don’t have to worry as much about finding the unfilled pixel in a tight corner
I've been using Clip studio for 3 months now, and my linearts were never so good as it is now. The stabilization works so well, Im never going back to paint tool sai.
As far as confident, continuous lines, I learned to draw from my shoulder as opposed to my wrist; it's fine for itty bitty areas, but larger areas, shoulder is better.
Ive been lining my art for years and I still feel like I havent found the right lineart brush. I usually use the G-pen but it tapers too much for me making the lineart look sloppy at the ends where the lines meet. I have also tried many different brushes but they dont stick with me. Im not sure which brush will be right for me.
hi there! i recently got clip studio but i have one issue, my lines are pixelated and jagged, i can do library fine but my lines are very jagged, i used vector layers, stabilisation and more, if you can help id appreciate it
Hey! Sounds like you need to make your canvas bigger or the dpi bigger. When those are too small you can see the pixels. I've made a tutorial specific to tools for Clip Studio Paint tools for making smooth lines. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/rYY8eBwFVqc/видео.htmlsi=2r4a3sjJpLOwW1Nb
I line everything on one single layer yes, except for the eyes. The eyes I only do seperate since they tend to be the one thing I make adjustments to all throughout the art process (just my personal way of doing things). But if I was to do seperate layers for lines it would mainly be to have different colored lines but most of my art has black lines
To be honest I don't actually know what you are referring to when you say open canvas. I had a quick google to see if it was a feature I was unaware of but didn't find anything. So I suspect my answer is no.
I suck at lineart but it is the most fun part of drawing in my opinion. I LOVE line art. The coloring process though... oh god no. I despise it, and have almost quit are a few times solely because of it but I just dislike it so much.
Which tip did you find most helpful? 🤗
