- Enjoy the first complete longplay of this pc game.
This is an action game based on the movie of the same name (the third), where the player attempts to free friends from the grasp of the evil Freddy Krueger. Find a way into Freddy's house on Elm Street, enter the Nightmare World, and fight him with unique powers or die trying!
The game starts on Elm Street with the player viewable from a top-down perspective. The player must find Freddy's house through a maze of streets while avoiding Freddy (displayed as a giant character) himself.
Inside the house, the player must explore and find a way to the other levels. The level location of each friend is displayed on the right frame as well as their remaining soul. As time passes, their souls may decrease, indicated by a text informing the player of their screams.
While exploring, the player may encounter monsters, items, and traps. Monsters and traps will decrease the player's soul. Items may consist of weapons, ammunition, gold coins (to buy items), batteries, objects to restore soul, and other uses. Items will automatically be picked and placed in the player's inventory, also displayed on the right frame. Items must first be selected in order to use or drop them. During exploration, power will gradually recharge; however, soul may only be restored by using specific items.
In this playthrough all the friends of Will have been saved.
There is a desynchronization between the video and the audio that i cannot explain. When i played everything was allright. I'm sorry for this.

Fun fact: the two lines "Stay a while..." "Stay forever!" are Easter Eggs. They're direct references to the Commodore 64 game _Impossible Mission_ where the same two lines are uttered by the evil villain Elvin Atombender when the game starts.
This video helped me a lot beating the game. It was way, way harder than I thought. Thanks for uploading.
I'm glad it helped you. Yeah, the game is very hard.
What nostalgia, I used to play in 1991 on an AT 286 with a CGA monitor, listening to the newly released vinyl record of The Simpsons. I spent hours playing this game; at that time, it was incredibly engaging. While I was watching your video, I had 'The Simpsons Sing the Blues' playing in the background. :-D I was 14 years old; today I'm 46! Hehe.
This game was my introduction to the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
I think you refere it as a positive thing. I love the movies, too. The first and the second, more than the others. Thanks for watching!
@@Slay4r It is. I liked this game. I don't remember exactly how far we got back in the day, but I think we didn't finish it, but must have gotten somewhat close.
The game gave me TWO nightmares as a kid!
I only got to watching the movies in 2007.
The Dream Warriors
Nancy Thompson - Can pull items and people out of Dreams. As demonstrated in the first movie, where she pulled Freddy's hat out and then later Freddy.
Kristen Parker - Pulling other people (and animals, noted by Kincaid's dog Jason) in and out dreams and gymnastic like agility.
Joey Crusel - Super sonic scream
Roland Kincaid - Super human strength.
Will Stanton - Can walk in his dreams and has magical abilities based off his favorite Tabletop RPG, The Wizard Master.
Taryn White - Enhanced confidence, beauty, and toughness also expert at using switchblades, and her clothes change into 80 punk rocker.
Thanks for the information. Hope you liked watching the longplay!
All right! When I have been playing about 30 years ago, I got to the level 10's third test - never could combine the cross. You showed me here. The game was not easy though!
Not easy at all. Thanks for watching!
I couldn't finish the final puzzle on the 10th floor. Good finish.
Thanks for watching. Have a great week!
Same
This would be cool if somebody modernized this game
Yeah! This game claims for a remake.
very boring
@@Slay4r Agreed. Imagine it on modern PC and consoles.
I found this game so ridiculously hard as a kid, I think I maybe got to the 5th level, never rescued anyone. It's so anti-climactic! Not only the ending, but every time you rescue one of the other kids it's like "YOU HAVE RESCUED TARYN" and that's it... haha. It's funny how mysterious things seem when you're younger, and when you're older you realise they were just clunky. :) Thanks so much for this eye opening expose!
I perfectly understand you. It happened to me, too...
The main problem is that the game doesn't give you ANY hints and the later puzzles are incredibly crpytic.
The crucifix puzzle on level 10 took me twelve years to solve.
@@TheLambdaTeam and all the ruddy teleport mazes! Ugh
@@Palooka37 That was the easier part. Once you try all the combinations, you can pretty much map the teleports (especially since you DO have a Magic Map).
What!? I didn't know this game was also released on DOS! I only played the C64 version. While the graphics are better on PC, the music and sound effects give the game much creepier atmosphere on the C64.
“NOW GO KICK FREDDY’S EVIL BUTT!” 😂
Freddy has a big ass house lol
Well it's a dream 🤣
Great game its been while since i played this game awesome upload
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it!
@@Slay4r do you have any cheats hints or secrets and do you have a website cause i would like to download this game to play it
@@generalhezakiyageorge3070 I don't have a website or cheats for the game. Sorry, can't give you a specific link to download the game, because copyright issues, but google is your friend, pal. I have a very good walkthrough, though, with maps. If you're interested i can send it to you, if you give me an email to send it. There is a link to that walkthrough, to a pdf file but without the maps, here - nightmareonelmstreetfilms.com/Files/a-nightmare-on-elm-street-pc-game-walkthrough.pdf
@@Slay4r i dont have a email could you send your guide to my text personal # here is my #4062990266 i live in butte mt usa call or text me anytime day or night
@@generalhezakiyageorge3070 When i click in your #4062990266 it did not found anything. How can i send a zip file to your text personal?
The PC version has better graphics, unlike the Commodore which are lousy, but at least the Commodore has better sfx and music, somebody should combined the 2.
Yes. That would be perfect. It is a good candidate for a re-release, imo. Thanks for watching!
We need a c64/pc nightmare on elm st hack
Good old days, when I played it in 90s) But I could never get so far (lvl 6 I guess was the maximum). Once Freddy engaged me on lvl 1 - just went through the wall and killed me. I don't know, how it happened, but it was scary surprise))
Quite a surprise, indeed. Didn't know that could happen. Thanks for watching!
I remember seeing this game on the shelf at an electronics store back when it originally released and wanting to play it then. I was only around 8 years old but it still looked cool. Tried it recently via abandonware and it's a pain the ass. No way I would have enjoyed it much at age 8.
We could never get far. For one we played on a black and white screen and 2. We didnt know you could drop items, so when we picked up the magnets we were pretty much screwed.
This game looks pretty good. But it looks very easy to get lost. I grew up with the NES game and beat it on several occasions. Be really cool if somebody home brewed this to the NES. I bet it could be done
You Hear Kristen Screaming In Agony In The Distance
Yeah. It's Halloween...
I used to crap myself when Freddy would appear….
Damn guys, can someone tell me how to get to the 3 secret areas in da game?
- The Jump Rope at level 4
- The Crucifix area at level 6
- The secret exit & entrance area at level 7
I guess you must watch this longplay...
@@Slay4r I did. Where exactly you enter _any_ of these hidden areas?
@@TheLambdaTeam I really can't remember. Sorry :(
Never saw this game before but I grew up on 80s and 90s PC games, including obviously many on DOS, so this seems familiar in a way. Cool play through and better without any chatting, although an intro would have been okay I think.
I think your version had a bug, because in the Game Over screen and when Freddy talks through the mirror, etc. Your supposed to see Freddies face in the screen, you're getting Amanda Krueger in ALL cutscenes. 😄
Maybe there is another version or mine is bugged?! I really don't know. Thanks for watching and comment!
@@Slay4r Them's the breaks, kid! Ha ha ha!
Subbed!
When I find the house should I click on it, or press some button? It's a real nightmare cuz I can't find the first house... They look the same..
You just have to 'touch' the house. No need to press any button. It's the only house where all the lights are flashing through the windows.
Westwood must have a hard time publishing games before commands and conquer
HOW DID YOU DO THAT ... I was lucky enough to get 2nd level but that was it.
Yeah. This game is very har, indeed. I was saving like crazy and was lucky, too!
Dope
Why are you playing as Fred from Scooby Doo?
I'm more adapted to play with him. Are you sure it's the same Fred? Thanks for watching!
Zoinks! Ruh Roh! Jeenkees! Jeepers! FU-
Sound had a slightly diff feel coming from the pc speaker, diff hz maybe?
Perhaps the difference is in the DOSBox emulator. Thanks for watching!
@@Slay4r must be, found another gameplay vid and it had the deeper sound I remember which sounds creepier. Grest vid still
Was this game hard to play or was it easy
It was very hard. There isn't many longplays of this game. This was the first one.
@@Slay4r you and your channel are legendary and epic I subscribed to your channel have you beaten the game with all the dream warriors
@@hezakiya5637 I'm glad you liked. Thanks for watching!
What about Kincaid ?.
Hi. Thanks for watching! Kincaid was rescued at 1:53:36
Kincaid is pretty badass. He can tunnel thru walls on level 1 and 10, and saves u a key + health too. You still need the Taser to kill Freddy tho.
What would be really interesting would be to know the secrets. Like how to get to the second exit in level 7 or the cross in level 6 when you look at the map I never get to the cross road. I modified the saved games using text editor to get there cheating, and the cross road get you to the second exit in level 7. But without cheating I have never known how to get there.
I've got an walk through, let me know if interested
@@SorroAndres Ok, what is the catch.
@@maxlanda466 no catch at all, just have a written walk through...
@@SorroAndres Ok, I am sorry. Please if you can share it with me.
@@maxlanda466 I'll upload it and share the link
Back in the days when one could finish a game un one or two hours. Now it takes two hours to exit safe, pick up a couple of missing packages and returning to base. (Yes... I'm talking about you, Kojima. But I still like your game)
Heh, i didnt even knew there is a game about Elm Street.
Chit noise maker
In no one Part from all Freddy movies the humans collect coins 🤪 LoL
Well the developers obviously took some liberty wit' that, ye. And the vending machine with the bowtie skeleton was kinda funny 🤣
Ghosts and slimes were also added without movie counterparts, but skeletons, roaches, wheelchairs were spot-on. Also it is funny to notice that the game features snow-and-ice levels and the filmmakers actually used this idea in their later movies. So the game kinda paved the way for the future Nightmare on Elm Street installments.

Nancy's special power in this game SUCKS big time. It's totally unusable (why freeze enemies when u can simply kill them), and it doesn't work on traps which'd make it ultimately useful tho. Use Nancy only if you wanna play the game on "hard" mode with a deadweight in your inventory.
