My grandma made me bologna bombs when I was a kid. She would fry the bologna until it cupped up, fill the cup with leftover mashed potatoes, top with cheese and pop in the toaster oven until the cheese melted. Yummmy, miss those days.
They are really good and a good use of leftovers for lunch. Sometimes we would get Sauerkraut instead of mash potatoes, or hash browns or eggs, just depending on what we had that day.
I have had Mortadella but my childhood treat was thick cut bologna on white bread.......not as much salt as SPAM (which I also grew up on) but oh the happy memories (the few that I had from my childhood).....thanks guys! For a few moments I was 8 years old again!
also if you see yellow labelled bologna at the grocery store and consider it inferior to the name brand stuff. It's the same bologna with a different label.
I'm watching this at 1am, it is raining out side like(as my dad would say) a cow pi$$ing on a flat rock. So what else can I do but go to the kitchen and make myself a fried SPAM sandwich with american cheese on Wonder Bread.😄🤤🤤😃
I worked at a meat packing plant that made sausages and stuff and this is just giving me nostalgia. My soul purpose there was to put the sausages and stuff on cages and then keep doing that til my shift was done.
We of German and Pennsylvania Dutch descent are very well aware of the differences in bologna. I was raised off of eating Lebanon, bologna, ring bologna , etc. because my grandparents ate it a lot. And I still love the taste of it.
Buy from the deli counter; ask for a thin sample slice. If you don't fancy it, then ask for a sample of a different one. You tend to have to kiss a LOT of frogs before you find YOUR prince.
I eat about anything, but if I want bologna, then I want good ole fashioned, plain bologna. It's irritating when I ask someone to pick up bologna, and they think they'll be nice and buy the fancy stuff that doesn't even taste like bologna. Yeah, that happened. 😅
I just had to drop you a line or two- you are a person after my own heart! I really don't like the taste of the fancy deli bologna, for me- keep it simple! I have a brand loyalty bologna, Frosty Morn, that is hard to find now- but I still enjoy Gwaltney. But it must be FRIED- with a little char at the edges
I was eating 3-5 slices of the all beef bologna from the deli, not the cheap, processed kind 4 or 5 days in a row before I went to wok at night. What happened. I ended up in the ER with sky high blood pressure. Bologna contains high levels of nitrate.
In Western New York state the Wardynski company produces superb bolonga, hot dogs and numerous other sausage products. I reside in South Florida but have found that Wardynski can be purchased here!!
A bologna sandwich with lettuce and mayo has been my go-to lunch for 70 years. It tastes like my childhood. Mortadella is good, but it's not bologna. A toasted peanut butter and bacon sandwich is also good, and you can substitute bologna for the bacon as the need arises.
I remember my mom would pronounce it ba-lug-na. I had heard the more common pronunciation but it wasn't until high school did I learn they were the same thing. Growing up, I had always seen the packages of it in the stores and thought that was bologna while the crispy slices my mom made for lunch was a different meat called balugna,
I dunno it seems like you guys are treating us as idiots. What kind of person thinks bologna is the same as mortadella? No one, no one in their right mind would consider the two the same
Pronounced “ Ba lone nee “ spelled Bologna this was so confusing growing up. My favorite was the Foster’s Farm chicken Bologna. Not sure if they still make it, very hard to find.
Gave up coldcuts years ago. I have zero trust in the companies that make them. They're expensive, and the ingredients are suspect. Your attempt to put a positive spin on them is off-putting.
How about setting the record straight about how to pronounce Bologna properly? Why do you Americans mispronounce names like Bologna and Notre Dame? By the way in Australia it's called Mortadella, just like in Bologna!
Schneider bologna is screwed up Schneider should be ashamed of what they did to the recipe, the hot dog weiners also and other of their products is the same thing man what the hell is wrong with them .
Boars Head all Beef Bologna! The BEST. No fillers. Zero carbs, zero sugar.
My grandma made me bologna bombs when I was a kid. She would fry the bologna until it cupped up, fill the cup with leftover mashed potatoes, top with cheese and pop in the toaster oven until the cheese melted. Yummmy, miss those days.

Yes!!! I have it for breakfast. One sandwich with mustard the other with mayo.
Which brand of bologna?
In the 60s and 70s..it was a bologna sandwich made with wonder bread..mmmm…being a kid then was so fun..we were “free range” kids
That's another term for neglected kids.
Good ole fried bologna with egg cheese and slice of tomato!

As with any deli meat, buy the best. I've chosen Deutschmacher Bologna for its purity. Yes, it's expensive but very tasty.

Fun Fact: Baloney is often called "Newfie Steak" in Canada.
I was eating 3-5 slices of the all beef bologna from the deli, not the cheap, processed kind 4 or 5 days in a row before I went to wok at night. What happened. I ended up in the ER with sky high blood pressure. Bologna contains high levels of nitrate.

The Amish weren't the inventors of Lebanon bologna...the PA Dutch did it first...as well as ring bologna and other bologna.
We have something similar in South Africa. It's called polony. You would probably find it in almost all households.
