Great! Thanks for posting. What impromptu playing by these guys. Larry's solo and comping incredible. Amzingly the older Larry gets the more vital he becomes.
I have to agree with previous poster, Larry is still getting better. I love to see that. Keep pushing !! I aint over till its over !! Not an easy song to play at all , let alone as a guitar duet.... Kudos..
I paid about fifty bucks for a Larry Coryell concert then found out he was solo... I would have just sent him a check for fifty bucks, I had to drive home thanks larry
+leoosiku ..LOL.. But compared to you I am somebody and you are a nobody. At least I have two free music lessons on youtube and am trying to pay it forward. I also have a jazz scholarship at my alma mater... But maybe you just didn't understand my comment. I owned about five Coryell albums at the time I went to his concert and none were solo albums. So I expected at least someone to play bass or chords. Larry sounded like he was just practicing his scales......You might be a great musician but just can not afford a web cam to prove you can play chopsticks. Sorry
If I may, I say it's because of a combination of 1) They have no clue of what's going on, can't understand the lines, the permutations, the conversational aspect, the cross rhythm, syncopations, it's like a foreign language, very different from Blues, Rock, even more 'accomplished stuff' like Prog, Neoclassical shred, etc...2) At the same time, they also know precisely because of that, it's not only 'foreign vocabulary' in relation to more mainstream styles but also by and large technically very challenging, not really an 'instant gratification music', because they also realize it has specific vocabulary, meaning that knowing 'neoclassical sherd/prog, as technical demanding as it might be, is basically useless in Jazz, so their hate is basically two-fold. To many people like myself, Jazz was essentially an acquired taste, I mean I could hear right away that 'those guitar players were playing "saxophone scales' " were some bad ass Mofos, but it couldn't discern the 'words', like I more or less could in Rock and Blues. So it took me years and years of close listening, to start understanding the idiom. It takes time investment. And many people reject by default that which they can't understand. But there might be other reasons. I frankly could only enjoy Straight Ahead after I had listened to tons of Jazz Rock Fusion, which was closer to my roots.
Larry is always more impressive when he is doing the accompaniment in the jazz idiom. I love him, but preffer him playng rock and blues. Straight jazz is not his bussiness... at least not as it's his jazz rock and blues.
Eduardo Excuse me but please stop posting such nonsense.Larry could play jazz standards perfectly his style, he is one of the greatest definitely. And he ripped this peace!

Larry Coryell is still blazing fast and melodic.

A keyboardist. With a scholarship. Complaining about another jazz musician playing solo. Interesting.
You're a nobody if you post babbling snark like this. If you're a musician, you're a pathetic specimen .
"At least I have two free music lessons on youtube..."
Wut?

What tune is this? Great stuff love it
Moments Notice.
its Moments Notice
As great as the both are, I think I would enjoy it more with bass and drums. Having a walking bass really frees up the comping.
Larry is rushing the beat a bit when he plays back up
...I like the energy
I wonder why so much people hate jazz music...
Because it takes sense to listen to.
So do I!
