Don't know if this is already posted, but I just found the piece he is playing by sheer accident. It's BWV 903: Fantasia in D minor. It's meant to be played on keys, so the fact that he does this so perfectly on guitar at that age is just breathtaking.
It's not just amazing that he's 11, but his playing is so clean and tight. There are tons of videos of 10 year old kids playing Eruption, well this guy SMOKES them. You can really hear a Paul Gilbert influence in his playing, which is awesome! Remember this kid's name, see where he's at when he's 17 or so.

it doesn't matter what he sounds like now, or what style he plays. what matters is that he has the skills and that he can play like he does. someone as good as that can play anything, regardless of genres and playing styles.
Holy fucking shit, I cannot believe that this kid is that good at his age. I was barely doing pentatonic scales at his age and he's already fucking sweeping all over the place!!!
Kfir Ochaion Hi Kfir! Funny how I am seeing your comment here from 7 years back. Today I follow you and this kid right there. He’s grown into a beast. Look at what he does these days, omg...
Yup yup! Pretty much what I was trying to explain. And I completely agree with you on your other point as well. People can use existing songs to learn all the different techniques and whatnot that comes with playing the guitar and any other instrument for that matter. But it takes even more skill to write an original song of yours and have it translate flawlessly into the instrument. Cheers!
I love how this kid is classically trained. Now someone just needs to show him allan holdsworth, necrophagist and animals as leaders and then he will be a musical writing genius when he's in his 20s.
You forgot to mention that I also said "if I had the time", which was something I tried to stress but that is hard to do with text. Not taking any credit away from the kid cause he is very talented, but like I said, his biggest advantage over a lot of people was age and time. BTW, good cover on the sax. I loved every minute of it. Cheers!
I love this influence by Paul Gilbert - every Guitarist has influences and Anton will get huge between the other sologuitarists! I think Paul Gilbert is sitting infront of his PC and watching Antons videos, he would be jealous :D like every one of us!
This is absolutely amazing. This kid already has more technical ability than most of the guitar greats of today. To all the people moaning that he doesn't have 'feeling' or 'soul', just because he doesn't flail around and put on facial expressions doesn't mean he doesn't have a love for what he's doing.
@kulplei it's Bach's composition, called Chromatic Fantasia. It's originally on the harpsichord or the piano, you might like it (: unless someone already responded to this then I'm sorry D:
Thanks for the new vid. He really makes it look easy. Hope he comes to the Dallas Fort Worth area soon. Maybe PG will let him play on stage with him like steve vai let Yasi...
The song is "Decadence dance" by Extreme - Nuno Bettencourt. He also plays a solo piece at the end from an earlier album, but I can't remember the name of the piece. I think it's "play with me" but I'm probably wrong.
he is fucking good. way better than most guitarist posting on youtube, and get over it already, you can't achieve his level of mastery. just sit and watch in awe.
Just because he's not jumping around like EVH doesn't mean there's no feeling. His bends and vibrato are world class and I can "hear" the feeling you are all longing for. Feeling has nothing to do with looks and expressions.
yeah that's what i'm saying his skill is incredible the future holds good things for this kid he's insanely good but i wanna see what his compositions are like that will set him apart from the rest
@RokusvdDool Absolutely the kid is gifted and I never suggested otherwise. The fact that he had the discipline, desire and mental acuity to accomplish this much at this early an age is remarkable.
For all the people who are saying that a musician is not great until they release their own great compositions... Would you say that Glen Gould was not a great musician? Yo-Yo-Ma? Leonard Bernstein? Yehudi Menuhin? Pretty much all renowned classical musicians have never composed their own music, but nobody would ever say that they are not great musicians. Why do you hold guitarists to different standards? Knowing and commanding an instrument is one thing, but composing is quite another.
@ShredableGuitar Yes, the red sure does seem like an MD-2. I am still perplexed by this video not only because of his immaculate precision and technique but also because he is able to play so cleanly on the bridge pickup while doing ungodly sweeps.
What I think is, he likes music, thats a fact. Since we dont know which music he likes (could be jazz, classical, or death metal), we can hardly say what will be his influences if one day he writes song. He will place himself in a style, and its gonna be his. If what he likes to play is Death Metal (which you could say is far from soulful), he will write death metal songs. From now, its a question of opinion. Hes going to play what he likes, and technic wont bother him.
Definite technical virtuoso. Undeniable. I am amused that he keeps getting younger, every time people comment on him. He's 11 now? Because wasn't he like 14 a year ago or something?
@shenkeey i think he meant...has a tremolo and doesn't have to use it (like some who try to base whole solos on it...and NOT VAI....that's where a lot of people got it from)
this kid is amazing, he truly loves and is dedicated to his instrument, to achieve such skill at an early age is a wonderful thing, you should check out his home page, he has written some smoking origionals, in a few years he will be a virtuoso of outstanding magnitude, this kid rocks dude, come on!
I dont want to be part of that debate going on here, but just wanna tell you something. I know what you mean by putting soul into music, but god, give him the time, hes only 12. Let him be as good as he can be technicaly, so he wont have any boundaries for his futur career in music. Its oubvious he aint composing any song, but hes still very young. For now, just enjoy the technic, and hope later he will find his own style and kick ass. Dont ask him to be that good that soon.
Nice job Anton! And you haters... this young guy gets to learn all that emotion-s**t later on. Let him rock and enjoy playing guitar. He's obviously good and will be lot better if he keeps up. Rock on!
@guitarhero15102 bro... the kid is 13 in this video. You really expect him to have emotion and a personal style? practicing scales and technique for 6 hours a day is the exact thing this kid should be doing, that way when he's old enough to develop his own style he has the technique to be able to do whatever he wants. Any one who looks down on learning technique is missing out on a large aspect of music.
Anyone that is downing this kid is just jealous. This is really great technique. I'm a little inferior myself, but I'm not going to start making negative comments. He's a freaking kid.
Please, you can reply without name calling and being offensive. The kid is great from a purely technical point of view. The point is, music is much more than scales/ riffs and arpeggios and copying other musicians. It is about creating something new IMO. About finding your own voice and being original. He hasn't reached that point yet. If he continues I am sure he will advance beyond what he is doing now and produce something truly great. What does being complicated have to do with good music?
IIRC he is 12 years old. And man, I don't want to take credit away from these kids on here who are great players on the guitar, but just because they have the time to study the instrument like crazy should not make you feel bad. I'm 26 and I just started playing the guitar. Obviously I'm nowhere near the level this kid plays, but if I had the time like he does, I'm sure I could do the things he does on his guitar. Just keep practicing as much as possible.
