I'm so grateful that I get to occasionally work with brands I actually like to create sponsored videos. Their direct support helps keep this channel afloat in the ever unstable world of RUclips ad revenue. These videos will always be disclosed, of course, and I appreciate everyone's kind support for these partnerships. Royalty Soaps also participates in commission or discount affiliations, like Amazon or RewardStyle, as these opportunities become available, like Amazon and RewardStyle and while the money we make with these links isn't much, every little bit counts and once again, we really appreciate your support! These products will always be marked and disclosed with a "✦". - Хобби
I emailed you once because I accidentally received the wrong bar. I was totally willing to send it back to you but you were so sweet and told me to keep it and sent out the correct one. I really appreciated that.
Same here!
Ok, this is just adorable, I'm glad it got settled and everyone was happy.
My husband has a small computer company and he ALWAYS says that the Customer is NOT always right. You are so amazing sharing common sense statements about small online shopping. The imbeds on this soap are amazing. And just a FYI my granddaughters use their "MAGIC" Soap in the shower. The shower is NO longer scary with Katie's Magic soap. So extra thank yous are coming your way.
The saying is, "in regards to taste, the customer is aleays right." So sell styles people want, trust the professional with how to get it there.
@@Serelenntidude I did not know that. Thank you. It is amazing how many common sense phrases have been chopped down to nonsense.
I run a small buisness too, and our philosophy is that the customer isn't always right, but we will always treat them respectfully.

@@Serelenntidude Very interesting. I'm not sure the customer knows this is the actual saying. 🤔
Years in customer service management have me wondering. 🤭☺️
People complaining about cut embeds obviously haven't seen your awesome succulent soap where the top was Covered in embeds.
That was immediately where my mind went - I wonder how many complaints they've received that the top doesn't look *exactly* like the picture?
I miss that soap!! I hope she brings it back again at some point :)
That soap was amazing
@@that.neurodivergent I think she has that soap in her shop right now
@@teresamunoz91 !!!! You’re totally right!! Thank you so much ☺️
I personally prefer the split embeds, and it's crazy to hear about people who want full refunds(?!?!) because one of their embeds got sliced! Love the sand in this soap as well 🧜♀
Yeah, that's crazy sauce.
picky brats make life hard for good business
Same, I like the look especially on the succulent soaps because it looks like a little picture of the whole
I always wonder why Katie spends so much time carefully placing the embeds because I'd rather have more cut pieces of embeds than the full ones. I figured I must be in the minority but to ask for a refund? Yikes.
Honestly I would probably say, "Here! That embed is 2% of the soap's weight, I can ship you a quarter if you would like to pay for shipping."
“It’s giving Garnier Fructics 2003” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg that was perfect, love it, couldn’t have said anything better.
I'm totally down for that, it smelled amazing!
“It’s giving Garnier Fructis 2003” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 omg hahaha what a perfect comment. Amazing, I love that.
"The customer is always right when it comes to matters of taste" - is the full quote (at least that's what my boss told me when I was working in retail!). So, if your customer wants a weird colour combination or odd things together it's not up to a retailer to question that or shame them for their choices. It does *not* mean that the customer is allowed to be awful to the person providing the service! It's crazy that people take it to mean that
I know!! I do work in CS and am the shop arsehole. I love adding "in taste" on the end when someone quips that at me. People's faces are amazing
@@sharlisify haha! I love that!
Katie, you used to be favorite soap maker-right up to the moment my doorbell rang and there stood my 6 year old neighbor with a tiny little bar of melt and pour she’d just made. I love Royalty Soaps, but you got bumped to second place. I hope you understand.😊
That is totally understandable I think Katie would agree with you!
Oh my gosh I thought this was gonna be hate and then you hit me with the cute feels 😭 thanks for sharing!
That's the sweetest ❤️
This is adorable 💜
@@clarissaconner5018 right! I was like- how did a hate comment get so many upvotes to be towards the top, then “ohhh…” 😅
When you go to the beach, more often then not you will find broken shells, so having cut seashell embeds just adds authenticity to the bar's.... they look Awesome Duchess of suds!!!
100% with you on the etiquette for shopping small! I once was commissioned to do something 2 days before xmas day and so i did it, didn't charge for the rush order, but I exhausted myself and the customer was very nice right up until I finished it (it was a drawing and I checked in each step of the way to make sure I did it how they wanted) and then a few hours after I sent the finished image they were demanding a refund and saying it wasn't what they had paid for. I had made it clear on multiple occasions it was a digital piece of work because no shipping company would ever get it to them on time even if it was a canvas. And I charged far too little. that was the point that made me raise my prices and refuse rush orders. I didn't deserve the abuse and then the forced refund. They were also under the impression that they would come to where I live to pick up the art and that was a HUGE RED FLAG too!
Fun fact: the "customer is always right" is actually referring to demand and not to individual transactions, but of course concepts that are supposed to be general is used on the lowest level... (bmi comes to mind 🙄)
Oh yeah, the whole BMI thing really gets me. According to that, George Clooney is obese (and likely many other healthy/fit well known people, but he’s the only person I’ve seen specifically held up as an example as to why using the BMI scale for individuals doesn’t work)
The saying actually goes the "customer is always right in taste"
Some Karen somewhere decided to corupt it
@@amara560 same! My cousin was refused an elective surgery because she was 3 pounds overweight - she's short and muscular, like super fit just strong! 😡
Katie talking about her customer service reminded me of the only time I contacted her customer service. The reply came back to the wrong name (I had a question that I guess a lot of people were asking), and I joked about it with Karolyn (did I spell that right?) and my kids called me my new Royalty Soaps name for a week. 🤣🥰
😂 Why don't know how it happened, but year's ago a fellow elementary momput my Mom & Dad on her real estate mailing list and for some reason thought my dad's name was Jim. It's definitely Eric. We tease that it's his alter ego!
Mermaids will forever stay up there with other superior themed things
as a customer myself most of the time, I'll happily admit I'm often FAR from right 😅 I'm in the dark about so many things lol
I think it should honestly be considered a cool thing that you have some designs that only show up once. makes them super unique, and if you happen to miss a release.... sad, but chances are something else you love will show up real soon
I love when embeds are randomly placed and cut. Makes it feel more homie
I just got my watermelon candy bar in the mail. This one is so pretty and I know of at least two people who would love this soap! 🤩
Hooray!!!
The embeds are so pretty and just add to the wonderful sparkle of it! Also y'all's customer service is top notch. I accidentally made it so my name showed up as "Please Select" (which was hilarious to me, tbh) and it got switched over afterwards without any issue.
So pretty! I have an idea for you - what if you put some of the shell embeds on the "ocean floor" instead of them all floating on the waves, kind of like when you do a cane for the moon on night sky soaps? I love this one. ^_^
I used to be in customer service at a grocery store and OH MY GOSH the stories I could tell you. 🤣 It finally got to the point after a couple of years, I finally had to go to my boss and bow out. I just couldn't handle it anymore. There would be days I'd be leaving work in tears over some things the customers have said. Customer services reps will be MUCH more likely to give you what you want, even if it's unreasonable, if you are nice to them. There were times I bent over backwards to make a customer happy just because they were considerate and patient.
There's no such thing as too many embeds especially gold sparkly shells! ✨️
oh believe me, there absolutely is
I found more Royalty Soap bars I forgot I had while packing to move, and promised myself I wouldn't buy more. You're making it hard to keep that promise!
This one turned out really cute. The mermaid tail stamp really complimented it, it was a great design decision.
Honestly I've never understood how people can be rude even to big businesses, I've only had one potentially Karen moment but that was with ebay itself after they changed me twice and the lady on the phone was accusing me of anything in order to not have to give me my money back.
Everyone always gets the customers always right.. wrong. It’s they’re always right in regards to their taste. People can definitely be wrong lol
I love the way the swirl turned out on this one! Watching this in the sunshine with a lemonade was my something for myself today, my 5 month old is on day 85 of being in the hospital for her heart conditions but we are getting close to going home, and I’m close to being able to make soap again! I haven’t since I was like 7 months pregnant and I’m missing it and living vicariously through you!
Oh, good luck! Praying everything goes well for you and your kiddo!
I pray everything works out well and y'all get home soon!
Best of luck to you and your little one!
I hope you get to bring your little one home soon 🖤 Sending good vibes over the airwaves!
As someone who almost exclusively tries to shop at smaller businesses, I've found most of them are more than willing to work things out with you if you reach out and let them know that there's a problem; one company had run out of stock of something I had ordered months ago and they had just lost my order in the shuffle with a lot of changes to their growing business, so they opted to just give me a full refund.
I've only ever come across one company that turned out to be absolute scam merchants, and judging from their page on the BBB, it's a common complaint about them; won't send out product, generally unhelpful when it comes to getting refunds, and will not respond to e-mail complaints (or phone calls) at all. But they've been the exception to the rule; everyone else I've done business with have been nothing short of amazing.
Honestly, I prefer the cut embeds! This soap is beautiful, and the stamp brings it to life!
Purple and green is one of my favorite color combos. My grandma made a quilt for me a few years back and the main colors are purple and green and it's such a nice quilt.
Customers are definitely not always right. I've had someone order from my Etsy shop before without looking at the pictures or description, left a bad review about it not being what she expected, then insult my work and act like I'm being dishonest by asking what I can do to make things right. She opened a case against me, even though she claimed she didn't want a refund, demanded a return and then never did anything to return her order.
I’ve been in retail for 40 years, and the customer has changed. They have entitlement issues. No, they are not always right. When I am a customer, I always have and give respect for the salespeople. I just try to be the best part of their day.
Katie, you're awesome. We've turned exclusively to your shampoo bars now! Also, I completely agree about reaching out to the small business! For my son's first birthday, the cake topper that I ordered was supposed to have his name, and instead the creator accidentally sent me the demo/default one which had a completely different name. I tripled checked that I had ordered correctly and then reached out to let them know (I had ordered in advance and recieved the topper on a Friday with his birthday being the next Saturday, so my heart sank thinking I wouldn't be able to get anything other than a refund). Instead the owner got right back, apologized that it was a mistake on their part and basically overnighted a new one-- to which she also included a piece to overlay the one I already had to also say his name, essentially giving me 2 cake toppers! I felt bad because I knew the owner likely didn't make any money after eating the cost of quick shipping, so I tried to leave the best review and recommend them to anyone looking for such an item. (I'm actually gonna use them again this year). But yeah, if I would've just lodged a complaint, no one would've won.
Just received my very first order of Royalty soaps. I am in love, and I don’t know why I waited so long!
Also, I run a small business, too, and customer service is sometimes a nightmare. More tears have been shed than I care to admit because I want everything I put out in the world to be perfect, but like you said, Katie, it’s handmade!
Love this! I’m watching this whilst drinking my nice cup of tea and crocheting my third Buttercup Bag. I swear I do not have a problem! The world needs more crafters. If everyone had a nice craft to do, there wouldn’t be any time for wars!
Yes, I too crochet while watching soap videos. My other craft? Miniatures and cooking. I so want to learn weaving. Surely I could squeeze in 1 more. Oh, I did jewelry too a way back. You see my dilemma. My top craft is yarn collecting. Yada, Yada, yada!
@@janehall2720 I knit and draw. I have made jewellery in the past, tried soap making and would like to learn embroidery. And plant dyes. And weaving. And pottery. And glass bead making. And every other craft…
I often like the look of cut embeds better than perfectly placed ones. It looks more organic!
Having worked in retail for the better part of my teenage years, I came to understand and fully embrace the "Customer is NOT always right" mentality and that there truly are some awful awful people out there just trying to cause trouble. My previous experience means I respect anyone in the retail business. I try to be as patient as I can and never EVER go shopping on Black Friday!
Gosh love a stamped soap, patiently waiting the return of the octopus stamp from the kraken soap xD
Thank you thank you thank you! I work at a small business and it makes me want to pull my hair out when customers don't have realistic expectations about what a small business can do. We want to help, but 8 people can only do so much! You're great!
Would love to see a video going through the process of taking the soap from the testing phase to modifying it for the final product. It's always fun seeing behind the scenes!
im sad i missed MerMay this year, but in our hearts its always MerYear
WOW! I really thought the color choices looked good, but that they weren’t really a big deal… but when you started splitting the slab *chefs kiss*. I think this might be my all time favorite color theme. It just makes me feel like pacific coast vibes and I’m loving it!
Me: it’s leftovers night, I can take a nap because I don’t have to prepare for dinner!
Also me: ooo a Katie video!! Naps are for babies. 😂😜
Okay 2 weird things: I'm a soap maker and I have a little soap shop in Chesapeake City, Md. A customer just came in and bought soap, but then asked if I ever watch Royalty Soaps. Um...YES, of course! So funny. I hopped over here to tell you that she gushed over your work by commenting on your latest video. Turns out we both just made mermaid soap, too! Cool stuff.
Virgin mojitos are my jam! Why don't we see the big loaf cutter that cuts the whole slab at once? I always thought that looked so cool!
Eyy Midnight Wisps PFP, I'm a Stars fan myself
Beautiful swirls!!! Please do a video talking about different swirls... In the pot, drop, hanger... I would love to learn more about the difference between them.
As someone who's had issues with small sellers in the past (such as saying it shipped when they never shipped it), I have to say your soaps ALWAYS arrive super quickly. They FLY to my house and I absolutely love that. Never had an issue with your stuff and the one time I did, you/your family handled my issue almost instantly.
ESPECIALLY NOW WITH COVID, SHIPPING DELAYS WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN. I wish people would have more patience.
I love 💕 how that little round sliver of white at the top makes it look like the mermaid is swimming away on a beam of moonlight. 🌙 Beautiful design! ❤️
I was thinking the same thing, it seems a beautiful landscape 😍
I got a Citrus Breeze and Strawberry Gelato from last months collection for my daughters birthday (19) yesterday. She loved them, especially the Citrus Breeze.
That swirl pattern is absolutely FANTASTIC!
I actually like the look of the cut embeds better, it gives more of a realistic beach vibe.
That soap is beautiful! I didn’t think it was going to work with the colours but reminded myself how well they turn out when the second layer just blobs into the mould! The tops look lovely particularly because the embeds are random and go over the edges! Keep it up lovely!
Being Allergic to Apricots I was giddy when you decided to not use the seeds anymore. Alas! ;D Aww well! A beautiful design, love the colors! Love all of the embeds. Would also love a reaction video of Lily seeing the mermaid soaps! She is precious.
Omg… the glitter never mattered to me but THIS compliments the soap perfectly! And then you added the soap stamp….I LOVE IT!✨
This is one of the prettiest soaps you've made, i love the colour scheme! The top reminds me of a gold ring my grandmother had with a turqoise stone in it. It also makes me want to do my makeup in those colours tomorrow!
My place of work uses those to make large batches of lemonade, green and black tea, and coffee. So I'm glad to say "damn that's a lot of soap." cuz those buckets definitely get heavy.
Always love a daiquiri, virgin or otherwise. Fresh peaches or strawberries, some frozen lemonade concentrate and ice into the blender. Top with some whipped cream if that's your style.
I have loved the turn around time with your soaps. i just purchased the Frosted Pink Lemonade...love it by the way...on Thursday and I got it in the mail on Monday!!! Pretty darn quick....
I emailed you after receiving an order(which was DIVINE, i got the boyband and galaxy a year or 2 ago). I just emailed thanking you and everyone at royalty soaps for being awesome. Y'all responded and it made my day!
I love this soap design! Bring on the embeds! Seriously, don't ber afraid to go super bougie on the embeds. I think it gives a delightfully cluttered look
When you made the Ring collection, I purchased the entire collection and instead of receiving all of them, we received two of one bar and the other was missing. I was okay with that because you could have ran out of the one we wanted. I have been buying your soap for years now. I get it for my husband because of the lack of chemicals. He doesn't break out anymore on his back. Love it.
I have a design idea for your dividers - instead of wires hovering above the soap (difficult to get your fingers into) have an insert which marks out where each bar will be. You press it down (it fits perfectly into the mold), make indents into the soap batter where the cuts will be and then lift it off. You'd be able to do several molds at once.
I work for an online art gallery and we get so many people that call and get frustrated when we don't know how to hanging giant art pieces in a staircase, how to make the pieces/ what the process is, etc 😅 I'm sorry I have no idea how to set up a scaffolding, I just take orders
This color pallet with the swirl effect is giving off the feel goods and the customer service info is great. Have a great day and remember to be kind.
The Little Mermaid is my favorite and this gives off perfect Mermaid vibes. This collection drops on my birthday. I will be ordering this. So cute.
thank you for this! I work in customer service and I can confirm the customer is NOT always right, some people out there are just so out of this world lmao
It's a wonderful design - looks like waves crashing on a beach in Fairyland, shards of gold and all. :)
As for customer service... yeah, worked in a bookstore, know AAAAALLLL about people trying to use a tiny imperfection to get a big discount. Can only imagine how crazy it gets with handmade crafters.
QOTD: I worked for a few years as a bartender. My two favorite mocktails to make for people who wanted a fancy drink without the alcohol were lavender lemonade and tequila sunrise (without the tequila)
Perfect summer drink... Pineapple juice, coconut flavor, splash of cranberry... play around with blender... frozen fruit, ice cubes, silly straws. Kids love it.
I love a nonalcoholic pina colada. When I'm feeling extra I'll sometimes add some maraschino cherries, maybe some whipped cream/cream of coconut and a wedge of fresh pineapple on the rim a fancy glass.
I have never ever had an issue with you or your business. Love love, love every product every time. The only problem we (myself & my hubby) is we love them so much we don't want to use and destroy the design/artistry....lol!
A little tip and trick for you when your gloves get sticky like that blow into the wrist area as your pulling it up and you’ll have an easier time getting the tips of your finger all the way to the end. I actually learned that from my grandma and she was a nurse for years so he had to change gloves quite often
One of my FAVORITE mocktails is honey dew melon (frozen) with fresh lime juice, a touch of honey and fresh mint! It's also great with a little bit of coconut milk in it! Hope you like it!
Ooh, this sounds amazing!! 💗
I always look forward to your mermaid soaps! Can’t wait till this one comes out! My favorite Mocktail is a piña colada… I’ve always loved pineapple and coconut together ❤️
I think this is my favorite mermaid soap that you’ve done! Love the gentle way the colors move around.
I never would have thought to add purple to a seascape. I absolutely love it!!!!
Out of curiosity, what do you do with stamps after you’ve made all the soap?? What happened to the “oh bother” or pig nose stamp? So curious!
I’m sure some can be used for future designs, but those two seem so specific lol.
Sé que es más lindo tener los "embeds" completos en la barra de jabón, pero siempre me pareció interesante tenerlos cortados por la mitad (: Están hermosos los de hoy!!
This is probably one of my favorite beachy soaps you’ve ever made.
Hey Katie, just a tip on something that I have found that works for me when having to switch out gloves (which sometimes is 2-3 times per batch) or even taking off and putting on the same pair…I powder my hands with either cornstarch or arrow root powder when I put my first pair on. The next set of gloves slide right on with no floppy fingies at the ends 😉
It was lovely hearing someone talk about how customer service can be, and explaining that y'know. We're only humans. If something gets messed up, or if something goes wrong with shipping and such, just be respectful, talk to a member of said small business, and generally it'll all get sorted out just fine.
I'm currently working my first job in retail, and have been for like. Two or three months now. And honestly, it's been AWFUL. Granted, I'm working for a huge company, and the biggest problem is that my store manager isn't good at all, but. Regardless, customers can be awful. Thankfully I've mostly met incredibly understanding and kind people, but that unfortunately doesn't negate the people who want to piss in our water fountains.🙃
As someone who ordered from you and dealt with your customer service I'd have to say your product and service is absolutely amazing! Can't wait to buy more in the future
The extra thin swirly bits at the bottom really help tie it all together imo! Makes it look very beachy and wavy! 💙🌊
Ooooooo mocktails. That's my world. Cucumbers and mint leaves in a ginger beer is just so refreshing.
I'm absolutely LOVING the more conversational style of these videos! Your transparency is so interesting!
Hi Caroline!
Sending you some appreciative love because we can all tell how much fun you and Katie have together and how much that fun comes through in her soaps and videos. You are part of the Royalty Soaps algorithm of success!
Thanks for sharing the small business tips! These principles are just respect and common sense but sometimes people are trying to take advantage and it's so unfortunate. Thank you for today's soap making video! I had all boys, so I'm always making manly guy soap 😅 Musk and black tar 😏 I love the girly soaps!!
Greetings from Houston. One day, I hope I can get in on time, for a soap. ❤️🧜♀️ MY fifty-third birthday, was June 25th. I have been missing your videos, so glad I am getting them again.
Over the course of the year I watch your soap collections and everyone gets a bar of Royalty Soap for Christmas. So far this year I’ve got Pooh and Genovia. Still waiting for a couple. They always call out to me. Thank you for all your hard work, you’ve become a family tradition for me.
Okay but your customer service is amazing! I've never had a problem with any of the soaps I've ordered, I use your shampoo and conditioner bars as well, and when you oversold your stock on the peppermint soap a few years ago I was offered a replacement soap in the kindest worded email! A+ shopping experience every time!
As for mocktails, I like simple things like ginger ale and lemonade with a splash of cherry juice or you can make a mock mimosa with orange juice and sprite. Honestly it's more about the fancy glass than what's in it. My parents used to give us limeade but they'd shake it up like a margarita and coat the rim of the glass with sugar. As long as it looks fancy, it's fun!
Recently had to move back to Texas from LA due to health problems. I’m currently alone at an AirBnb in the middle of nowhere waiting for my apartment to become available. Not going to lie, I feel like I’m completely out of my element and like I’ve made the biggest mistake of my life. Then, I watch your videos and remember you too are in Texas and it gives me a little hope! Despite still being hours away from each other, knowing I’m not alone in this giant state is comforting. Thank you for your videos. They always make me smile and give me hope when I’m struggling.
In addition to the full tails, they do make adult sized mermaid monofins for perfect mermaid swimming! They are so fun.
this is one of the prettiest soaps you've made imo
obsessed
Binge watching your videos, even though I've seen them haha, while me and my 4 children have covid makes me feel better.
Those colors screamed Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" and I love it.
this is now one of my favorite soap designs you’ve made, the colors really hit family beach summer vacation nostalgia
You have the most tactful way of discussing ANYTHING Katie. Truly a skill!
The shells with the long stem sticking out of the bottoms are modeled after "tulip shells". The ones that look similar but without the stem are either top shells or maybe periwinkle shells? The circular spiral disk shaped shells are called "sundials". It also looks like the highly bumpy textured shell might be some kind of murex? It's hard to tell with the generic shapes. But, they're very cute! And absolutely real species of shells!
A fancy drink my kids really enjoy is strawberry cordial in a tall fancy looking (plastic) glass, heaps of ice, chopped up strawberries, mint and then topped up with sparkling water. Add a cute straw and they feel all fancy and grown up. I quite enjoy these myself, and you could always chuck in a shot of spirit to make it even more grown up. Just keep an eye on what glass is yours if you do that.

My favorite kind of mocktail is seltzer water your favorite juice (pineapple, cranberry, pomegranate, orange etc.) then add a slice of pineapple or strawberry or a wedge of lime or lemon or even orange and a bunch of ice. Very refreshing!
