This is great. I was hoping you'd take the Abbey all the way back to 960 A.D. when St. Dunstan first created it as a Benedictine Monastery on the site of a pre-existing church.
I could be wrong but the camera quality was very pixelated in 960 A.D so I decided against using them from that period
@@JamesFoxTimeTravelArtist Oops! I forgot you used only photographs, so you took it back to the earliest extant ones. I was thinking of combining animation or drawings, which would be a more complicated video. You're right. Photography in 960 A.D. was very pixelated.
@@lemorab1 clearly not, there are drawings in here
@@Patrick3183 Indeed. The earliest Photo´s are from the 1840ies.
I love the little detail of the clock spinning on the left tower
I've only just 'found you'..thank you, I love history..the art work is fantastic..👏👏👏👏👏👏
Welcome!
Lovely! I only wish the time travel continued to the placement of Henry VII’s Lady Chapel, and further back to how it looked during Henry III’s rebuilding, Edward the Confessor’s rebuilding and what it looked like when St Dunstan made it a Benedictine monastery around the year 960
Simply wonderful, as always.
Wonderful Video again. You are so Talented. I Cant even post a Simple video on my You tube Channel lol x
It would have been fun to also add a "Ghost" character each time the clock stopped, too! 😄 (from BBC Ghosts)
The intriguing thing here is how the church has never moved, but roads and buildings have been moved around sp many times that it looks like the church has moved to a different angle even though it hasn't
Shifting perspective over the centuries
Indeed.
Again, this is wonderful. In particular, I am impressed with the timeline and with the monarchs and ministers on the left side of the changing Abbey. Thank you!
I love these videos! Thank you so much!!
Thank you that was fascinating
Including the inventions of the day is a nice touch
Wonderful, wonderful 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Brilliant thanks for all your hard work
Very well done! A great visual history of such a prestigious building. One point i would like to make however, is your choice of flag at the beginning. Although the British Union flag covers anything British/Britain & Westminster Abbey is classed as being in Britain. The building stands in London England. Perhaps the English flag would have been more appropriate? The St. George's flag is the flag of England. 🏴 If you made a video about Scotland/Scottish city or Wales/Welsh city, you would probably put their national flags on the video, not the Union flag. England is a separate nation, just like Scotland & Wales. 🏴🇬🇧
Can’t believe how much it’s changed even in my lifetime.
Very impressive!👍👍👍 Thank you very much!
Brilliant , thank you .
I like the way you present this excellent
Westminster Abby is an impressive place! I don't know much about its history, but I'd always assumed it took it's current shape somewhere in the late middle ages.
How Long does Each Video Take you to do ?
If we take this back to maps and street guides, they exist a lot further back than Stuart times.
Less understandable, but revealing that without much paper, there were few maps.
please let me know what happened to the building on the left of the abbey in 1906?
Wow
wow Westminster was open farmland as recently as the 1680s?
Does anyone know what effect or image transition he uses?
⛪👍
why did you only go back to 1660?
Earliest available contemporary images. If you have engravings or etchings earlier than 1600s let me know!

1 thing wrong with this, the hands on the clock should only be one hand not two hands, it never had two hands not when I last looked in the 34 years of working for Westminster abbey
St Peter’s church just round the corner
