The number one question I get asked about the SSV-18 is about how it handles rough water. While this is nowhere near the wave action of the Great Lakes, I had a day with a decent amount of chop that I could showcase the boat's performance. If you're thinking about buying a Lund SSV-18, this video should give you a rough idea that you can compare to the conditions you find at your favorite lake.

Great video. I just purchased a Lund Alaskan tiller. 3rd boat, but my first Lund. It's sitting at the dealership till I pick it up in the spring. In the meantime, I'm living vicariously thru other Lund owners on RUclips 😂.
Thank you, you're going to love it. Mine showed up in October, so I had to wait until the next spring too. The only plus side is that you have all winter to plan out all your rigging, setup, and customization!
I’m almost there to buddy looking at a 16’ fury and I can’t stop thinking about it
My nephew runs a 16 SSV with a 40hp Yamaha. Uses it in saltwater for crabbing and inshore rockfish, lingcod, and salmon. As with any tiller, you will get wet if you’re going against the wind.
Is he a Newfie by chance? If so, I think I've seen his pictures! I tell anyone who asks about the boat that there's guys that crab out of these things because they're so solid, and the space between the benches makes them perfect for hauling pots. Tell your nephew I said party on, Garth! 🤘
We are west coast folks. Mostly fishing the Washington and Oregon coastal areas and estuaries. The SSV is a great “meat boat”. It’s stable, easy to clean, and easily adaptable.
You're out there all alone... And you have everything on... Except the Life jacket... Just sayin'...😊😊😊
I only wear them if it's really bad or if I'm in a tournament that requires them. I'm fully aware of the risk and I don't care. I'm not going to lecture anyone about their personal choices, I expect that same level of respect in return.
Obviously you have no idea what lecturing and respect is...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And here you are proving my point. Best of luck to you
silly not wearing PFD. your boat, your life, i guess
@mrfofff thank you for your concern, citizen 🫡
looks like a great boat! I see its an 18 footer is that comfortable to launch and load by yourself? I have a 14 footer but dont want to go too big if I upgrade for more room.
If you notice in the beginning, I just give it a shove and that center roller does the rest. It's probably the easiest boat I've ever launched. Loading is a little tougher but only because you gotta hit that roller dead center or you're going all off kilter. Once you get the hang of it though it's super easy. The 18 is worth every penny! Thanks for watching
Great test run. How much HP here?
This is with the 60hp with command thrust. Pushes it pretty good through the chop!
