Loved watching/hearing your beautiful playing! Personally, I loved the Mopane #1 best - the sweet/lightness in the sound was incredible! Could you do a video comparing silver and 15/85 Brannen flutes? There aren’t many videos of that on youtube and I’d love to hear an excerpt back-to-back like this. It was super helpful hearing such clear difference!
I found that the grendilla wave and mopane no2 were quite similar to each other. Both had a nice presence of sound, but we were maybe a bit less effective in the extreme pianissimo of the range. The Mopane no1 however didn't have as much presence as the other two, but could really pull back in volume
Thank you so much. It's amazing to hear how each handmade headjoint is unique from one to the next. This is why we always encourage in-home trials! If you're in need of a trial, you can email flutegallery@schmittmusic.com to get started.
Hi, Dr. Rachel, thank you for your video. Could you tell me if there’s any pattern for the barrel to fit a YAMAHA 62 piccolo? Should it be a bigger or smaller barrel to get the piccolo a more balanced tune throughoutthe octaves?

Good video, and it was interesting to hear the difference between the 2 Mopane head joints.

Can you compare some of the other woods that are available with the mancke piccolo headjoints?
Thanks for the comment! We'll be sure to record more when we get new headjoints in the Flute Gallery.
There are no Mancke headjojnts available on the website. Are you not a dealer any longer?
Hi Chris, we do still carry Mancke headjoints. You can email flutegallery@schmittmusic.com for details on current inventory!
