      That happens at London pride too. We have anti, homophobic Christian protestors. Queer Christians and Christian allies to the lgbt community came dressed as Angels and blocked them from view so us marching on the parade could pass without experiencing harrassment or abuse. They were beautiful. Donned up in white, with glitter on their cheeks handing out flowers to the marchers and just giving off a vibrant loving energy

      It's so sad. In the not too distant past Orlando was home to Disneyworld not to mention The Boy Band Movement with Lou Pearlman who screwed his proteges in more way than one. She's such a fantastic reporter. I'd love for her to do a profile on K-Pop, Contestants on Music Shows who don't make it and how they dealt with it, or even life at a HCBU (Historical Black College University). Atlanta is another fun State for her to visit where it's the Number One State for The African American LGBT Community which sadly has a strong population of AIDS Folks.

    The worst mass shooting in the US occurred on December 29, 1890 in Wounded Knee South Dakota.

    • @ss04to06
      @ss04to06 8 лет назад +8

      Wounded Knee was a massacre perpetrated by the U.S. Army when they tried to ironically disarm the Lakota...so much for the 2nd amendment (then again, Native Americans were sadly not considered U.S. citizens until 1924).
      Also, I think when they mean "mass shooting" they mean a single or a group of civilians going on a rampage rather than a military campaign.

    • @MFZeier
      @MFZeier 8 лет назад +3

      Do you realize that the tenor of your reply, using semantics as an argument, says that the slaughter of these Indian people doesn't matter because the army did it? And, 'officially' then, doesn't count.

    • @ss04to06
      @ss04to06 8 лет назад +8

      Nah, worst American massacre would be the crow creek massacre which occurred during the mid 14th century where one Native American tribe massacred another Native American tribe. The remains of at least 480 men, women and children were found with evidence on the bodies of torture and trophy-taking (tongues, teeth, heads, hands removed). Even the tribes unfortunate pets dogs were included in the slaughter, the remains found amongst the heaps of corpses..

    @ashleyklug4538 7 лет назад +90

    stacey also asked, "what has to change?" to me, the root of homophobia, racism, sexism, ableism, etc. is organized religion. being spiritual is okay because we all need hope and something to hold onto. but organized religion of every flavor is toxic and harmful!

    • @SOUPRUN01

      to understand all is to forgive all, if you understand people were educated by the bible, by force, like the slaves, forced,

    • @JSJ1978
      @JSJ1978 7 лет назад +4

      So being "spiritual is ok and organized religion is toxic and harmful" because the the moral law of Ashley Klug says so.
      Please consider that not as much as a single person, spirit or demon or any other entity is going to be judged according to your standards ! ( or mine ).
      Your subjective selective moral values have no eternal value what so ever.
      All people on this planet have a fallen nature that longs for things that are not of God and were not present in the original plan. Since Adam and Eve were not created as robots they had the opportunity to love God and his ways or choose the opposite. Man chose to rebel against God in the beginning and that had devastating consequences and separated man from God. Through sin and rebellion against God in the Garden of Eden man entered into a unholy or fallen state and NOTHING unholy can ever dwell in God´s presence. The connection to God was lost and can only be restored through spiritual rebirth based God´s own sacrifice. ( John 3 ).
      Man chose to rebel pretty quickly but so was God´s promise of salvation in Genisis 3, 15.
      God´s righteousness obligates Him to not look away from evil and sins. In fact, His righteousness is the foundation of His throne (Psa. 89:14).
      We must all come to the same conclusion as the tax collector in Luke 18 when he said " God, have mercy on me, a sinner ". We are all guilty of sins and evil doings and we have all fallen short from the Glory of God. If the sins are a,b,c,d,e or f is not the core issue, the real issue is our fallen/unholy nature that longs for things that are not of God.
      There is a way out of this terrible situation and that way was paved with the sacrificial blood of God Himself ( Acts 20, 28 ) when Jesus Christ ( God incarnate ) was WILLINGLY brutally crucified for our sins and iniquities. Hebrew 9, 22 says that " without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins ". In this case it was the shedding of God´s own blood and therefore the requirements of Gods eternal law were met. That blood is the ONLY remedy that God will ever accept as atonement, every other attempt to enter Paradise is tainted with self righteousness and is utterly unusable at the time of judgement.
      We are either going to reject our own tainted righteousness and meet God dressed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ or we are going to meet God in our own righteousness which absolutely will NOT meet the God´s standards. The righteousness of Jesus Christ is appointed to all those who chose to reject their own righteousness and freely chose to believe in Him. It is an undeserved gift and can not be worked for. Ephesians 2, 8-9.
      The gift was paid for in God´s own blood !
      I am not trying to debate you or anything like that but I felt that I had to tell you this. Being human is very serious and eternity is an awful long time. we are going to spend it with or without God. Let the Spirit of God work on your heart and accept his gift through faith in Jesus Christ. I hope that we will rejoice together in Heaven one day. Bye.
      P.s. English is my third language and I have never been to a country where people speak English but I tried my best.

    I really loved the Segment she did about The Upstate New York Boot Camp where Offenders Male & Female trade 3 to 5 years in Prison for 6 Months in a Bootcamp. They think they are on Easy Street but they really are put through their paces. Their hair is cut off, they have to get up at 6:00 AM for exercising, breakfast, lunch, counselling, education, dinner, then Lights Out. I also would love for her to do a profile on The K Pop Movement or do a profile of the Kids who auditioned on Shows, didn't make it and are still trying to chase their dream. Better yet, talk to folks who quit groups, got fired and missed out on Stardom and how it affected them. There were so many over the years. Up The Street there's a FTM Couple where the "Husband" works, The Wife takes care of their Daughter who refers to him as Daddy and they are very happy.

    The worst mass shooting in American history was Wounded Knee, and was perpetrated by the government.
    The worst terrorist incident was Sep 11, and over 3000 people died.
    The second worst was the OKC federal building bombing.
    The Bath School Disaster involved explosives as well.

    If it was only "a couple of days after the shootings", my God she and the BBC didn't wait much time getting there with this intellectual heavyweight's musings. Like pretty much all of her reports I've seen, she's exploiting them, often in a patronizing way.

    • @sarahl3721
      @sarahl3721 6 лет назад +2

      I don't think she's meant to be an intellectual heavy weight in any way at all. I don't think she tries to pull that off in the slightest. She is clearly more intelligent than her documentary persona. It's fine being bitter and cynical but I've seen plenty of her documentaries where she talks to people who haven't had the privilege of education we enjoy in the West and focus on the human bond she has with those people. If you want a documentary about statistics, there's plenty of those but how many documentaries (especially American style sensationalist productions) are about the people they purport to tell the stories of? If Stacey befriending an uneducated Afghanistani girl means nothing to you, I feel sorry for you

    • @Psmith-ek5hq
      @Psmith-ek5hq 6 лет назад +1

      If she's not meant to be an intellectual heavyweight, then why the hell is she allowed to travel the world at our expense, making make documentaries on serious social issues? Is she the best the BBC could do? If she's "clearly more intelligent than her documentary persona", then why doesn't she come across as more intelligent than she appears? If someone is fairly intelligent, then they will have little difficulty in portraying themselves as fairly intelligent.Unless she's deceiving the viewers that is. But I'm at a loss as to why she would do this. She - and we- can have a human bond with anyone, regardless of their education, whatever country they're from. There are ways of befriending an uneducated Afghan girl without it being exploitative or patronizing.

    US need to make it harder to buy and own weapons! all the school shootings and meaningless killings are made easier by people being able to buy guns like it was a toy! Besides, how is Westboro Baptist Church not arrested for racism? Homophobia is ALSO racism! #loveislove #noh8

    when people hand out that Leviticus abomination rhetoric, i immediately ask to see the tag in their shirt and when they've had a hair cut last. it's almost always the case that they're cherry picking amongst all the other "abominations" stated in Leviticus and that they're wearing a cotton blend. smh. 😔

    I’m not against guns but I’m against guns being in the hands of mentally unstable people and people who have hateful intent 😢and I definitely have a problem with people who have more lethal weapons than the police have 😢

    First I would like to say my heart goes out to everyone. The spin in this short documentary is crazy. The killers phone conversation with police says it all. His motives are clear and driven by Radical Islam. The other issue is making a blanket statement that the Westboro Baptist church represents the vast amount of Americans. As you can see in the video there was only a hand full of people protesting and if you asked everyday Americans if they condone there actions at the funeral the vast majority would not and they would find it disgusting what Westboro did. Granted there is hate, but America and the West are the most tolerant and getting more tolerant with time. But attacking people with false assumptions is going to do the opposite, it is going to polarize people and turn back years of progress. Recent FBI reports have concluded the Killer was not Gay and his father was involved with the Taliban in Afghanistan. The Truth Will Set You Free, what the media is doing with all the spin is polarizing America and the West.

    Sorry I just can't with that scene around 11:30. Not only is it completely unneccesary, it's just a shame. I am a proud supporter of LGBT community. I just can't fathom how these Christians must be thinking when they go through this, like they're just beating them when they're down which is just a shame to those Christians. This whole video had me choked up bc although this happened last year, it's still relevant today

    "... using the same rhetoric as the gun lobby." No. You're not understanding what Erin's trying to say. Guns aren't the problem. Mental illness is. I understand that I won't be able to own a gun because of my mild Aspergers, butI'm willing to sacrifice that so that those worse off than myself are prevented from owning a firearm, not even with a DD-214 or the entire NRA backing them up. Erin's a good friend of mine, and is most certainly not a Radical gun lobbyist.
