They wanted me to sign an exclusive contract where i had to have one of their helmets in EVERY video, even if it wasnt motorcycle related. And their offer was pretty laughable at the time. Two Raid Shadow Legend ads a year was substantially more profitable. At that point, they had alot of other riders in their pockets and their quality seemed lacking. Told em no thanks, id rather just get free icon helmest whenever i need 😂
At least with Raid Shadow Legends is, it's a harmless phone game. Ruroc meanwhile is pushing a _questionable_ product in terms of quality and consistency. And it's a product MEANT TO SAVE SOMEONE'S LIFE!! So I too, have gladly taken dumb mobile game sponsors, while leaving certain _questionable_ ones on read.
As someone who has worked in the gear world (I was a manager at a Cycle Gear) I've got some pretty in-depth experience with helmets and helmet brands. We never had access to Ruroc because we didn't sell their products, but I got my hands on a few Atlas's back in the day and really got to look at them. Their build qualities have always been crap. They used a shitty design for their visor base plates. Something that Cycle Gear eliminated from their Strada 1 helmets because screwing in your visor often results in missing visor screws as they have a tendency to pop out while riding. Their cheek pads didn't secure very well and would fall out easily. They have horrible wind buffeting and they aren't exactly innovating anything with their shells. They are criminals for charging so much for a helmet that should probably be in the $250-$350 range. Honestly, you can get better helmets in that price range.
I'm not sponsored by the GardenSnake however I am morally obligated to comment because for the last 8 years I've watched his videos and he's always the realest and true to himself motovlogger there is. Papa Jake of the community.
Was good friends with the old CEO. They had great intentions and maybe bit off a little more than they could chew but it fell apart when investors wanted to cut all expenses to maximize profits. The CEO resigned when he found out the investors didn’t wanna to improve the helmets anymore
@@GodDamnItCarl oh wow I’d this public information? Where did you find this out of curiosity? Yeah they’ve been teasing the 5.0 on their private Facebook page so I assume it’s coming
@@GearsGadgets Oh damn what happened? Or if you can't answer that, can you at least answer this: are you confident ruroc will be able to continue as a company or do you believe they are not doing well financially?
@@lukataggert8616 I honestly couldn’t answer that because I think it would take years before the masses would even consider taking Ruroc seriously so they would have to financially rely on the fanboys to carry them while they keep making strides in the right direction. I think the 4.0 was the first “real” helmet Ruroc brought to market but I don’t think the fanboys will buy enough volume to let them keep spending years regaining trust after the 3.0 debacle.
Sounds like you and I had the same convo with them. Yes I'm a sponsored Ruroc rider but that money is for me to use their helmets in videos where I ride a motorcycle and the exclusivity of not riding in other brands on video. That's literally the entire contract.
It was obvious to anyone paying attention that all of these vloggers were for sale. Thank you for keeping your integrity & trying to make things better.
Never repped them. Never liked them. They tried so many times with me, and I told them I'm not interested. Then... all the news came out 😮💨 then the memes lmao
From the outside looking in, it feels to me like Ruroc got a boatload of free press from a few videos talking about quality issues in early helmets, got a wave of early sales, doubled down on sponsorship deals and got out over their skis financially. For like 6 months in 2019 or 2020, I couldn't get on social media without seeing one of their ads, now I see a sponsored post every now and again. I'm half tempted to buy one and give it a try for giggles.
I bought one of the atlas 4.0's and was fine aside from a scratch on my nose when I crashed in it, it looked kinda cool too. That's all the positives I can say about it, I won't be buying another and am looking for a different one since my crash.
They're fine. Nothing stellar and tbf most of the online dogpiling seems to be the internet doing internet things. My favorit creator said thing so helmet must actively hurt you for wearing it. People wearing shroom helmets telling you they're unsafe. The fact is even with all the bad skuttlebutt, theyre still selling. You get an ECE safety rated helmet with some bits and bobs and more style over substance. Icon is far worse and gets far less attention. Its not a Shoei or an Arai and people need to stop pretending they claimed to be.
The sheer aggressiveness at which AdjrianNickelodeon pushed Ruroc and defended them against anyone who had anything bad to say about the helmet is what steered me well clear of the brand. Even if it wasn’t sus, it sure looked like it.
Yep he got rather angry when I made a comment about their cheek pads. At the time being made of a single piece of foam (not sure if the still are) rather than multiple pieces of various density foam making the perfect fit and longer lasting and I'm sure better in an impact. Sure it passed safety testing but didn't feel premium but just ok when I saw it in the flesh.
Yo, Jake. Throughout all the years I've been watching your videos, you have consistently been a shining example of what it means to have integrity. Thank you, brah.
That's exactly why I didn't look twice at them. Seemingly overnight everybody was wearing them and taking about them like they were the best thing ever, but it just screamed paid advertisement and i never trusted it. Only time i thought about it was when you showed up with one because i actually trust you not to be like that. We're about the same age, wide, kids, all that and I'm not trying to die because of a crappy helmet and i figured you weren't either😅
I saw a video of someone who bought one with his own money and compared it to one of his similarly priced helmets... clearly the Ruroc's materials and build quality were worse. It made it very obvious that many other paid off guys skimped over the downsides.
I don't watch as many of your videos as I used to (I just slowly stopped watching YT regularly) - but Jakes videos are always on point- always have been. Production is great, it's a shame to see that hes struggled with RUclips algorithms and stuff over recent years- you can see he really works for this
Channels as old as mine get pushed to back these days unless your really really big. 🤷♂️ not sure what to do about that. But thanks for sticking with me.
Preach brother! I got one of the early invites the same as you, I said no then as I just do not like the look of their helmets and I would rather have a double D ring.
Must admit, the only influencer sponsored brand I’ve bought is Flying Eyes glasses (via a certain Canadian), which I’ve rated really highly tbh. It’s really difficult when you follow people to judge their integrity, I really like that you’ve given the other side.
Man i did a deal with fly eyes before everyone, like 3-4 years ago. And they never paid me haha. Just ghosted me. Kinda makes me mad seeing them work with all these other influences now.
@@TheGardenSnakereach out to them and lightly mention that Jake, they may be interested in making that up to ya and doing another deal where they (hopefully) pay you this time.
Hahaha that old man was definitely sizing you up in case he needed to hip toss you at the track :D I honestly never looked at them over a Shoei or Arai, the price is similar and they've been around forever. I'm glad you made this video, definitely part of why I've always trusted your stuff(and tried to do any of my videos the same). They're certainly a cool helmet and cool colourways, the Atlas 4 is also a solid helmet, I wouldn't never own one, just can't see myself picking them over the aforementioned brands.
Sadly so many people are so thirsty for sponsorships that they will jump through any hoops to get there, personal integrity be damned! Hi five to you for keeping it legit
The industry needs more of this. So many culture vultures on social media/youtube these days. I'd love a helmet sponsor. I wear Bell because I like them. I've reached out to Bell many times with no response. I could find a company that WOULD send me helmets/pay me but I'd rather spend my own money and keep my integrity. Well done on this one, Jake.
What I don't like about Ruroc is that they seem to have a season model with helmets. I have the Atlas 2.0 and it has some bad design choices that had to be done on purpose so that they can be easily improved upon. My biggest complain about it is that is far too loud and when it gets cold your head is cold inside the helmet. Also the Shockwave audio install was absolute pain and could be easily improved. There are things that I like about the helmet but it unfortunately is collecting dust on a shelf because I much rather wear my Schubert or Shoei.
I got a few of their helmets and never liked them, one of them the clips for the cheek pads broke right out of the box so it just had loose cheek pads. They always felt cheap. They were literally marketed for the looks but were never quality.
Some one who is a “blockhead” got his first helmet from them and he gave a glowing review of the helmet so I looked them up. They were priced more than I wanted to pay but I figured they were good helmets because of the review. That “blockhead” got a second helmet from them and he did a review. In this review he talked about all the flaws of the first one. Which revealed that the first review was only about the good things and none of the negative. I don’t trust online reviews anymore unless the person says they are not sponsored and paid for the item themselves.
I’ll share my experience, I was asked (years ago). I told them I don’t do product reviews or showcase items I would not buy myself. I’ve enjoyed my hiatus from RUclips, life gets in the way with family / kids etc. that said, I never wanted RUclips to be a business for me, was always a hobby.
bit a old comment, but same goes for bikes, big channels = actually dont trust them on bike "reviews" good for first impression tho tbh. always try to find normal people from YT or forums to ask about the specific model
After having a child and significantly less free time on my hands i dont watch as much as i used to but ive never been disappointed with one of your vids. They've always been so real. My first bike was an fz07 because of you. Thank you for introducing me to motorcycles, keep it up.
I hated Ruroc immediately. I mean I hated them the second they came out with motorcycle helmets before any of the motovloggers started wearing them, before the scandals of their build quality. I saw their Atlas 1.0 and thought “That’s a cool helmet. Someone is giving Icon a run for their money in the super edgy aesthetic-mid priced segment of helmets” and then I saw the $500-$600 price tag and died laughing. The audacity of Ruroc to charge Shoei prices for their garbage fashion accessories immediately turned me off from the brand. Those are $200 helmets at most. THEN every casual weekend rider got one and Ruroc took the stereotype away from the Icon Variant
I stopped watching some RUclips channels entirely because you could tell they were just turning into paid shills, mostly for Ruroc. Chase on 2 Wheels, Her 2 Wheels, and Blockhead immediately come to mind. I don't care if they're awesome helmets, the fact that you can only get them direct from Ruroc so there are no truly independent reviews, and suddenly 1/2 the RUclips motorcycle channels being paid to talk about them just makes the whole operation too shady. Too much marketing hype and no provable substance.
I feel like Ruroc and the creators who unapologetically pushed the brand are a significant contributor to the decline of the motovlogging genre. It’s a genre that demands organic and the moment that gets bastardized, people just stop watching.
Yeah, I can honestly say I considered them and based on how hard they were promoting them via Socials -- I assumed they were mid-grade helmets at higher price. And since it was obvious they were "sponsoring" riders I didn't feel I could trust the reviews. But since I could not try them on, I bought a Bell as my spare instead.
Helmet made by British company that can't be found in any British motorcycle stores says all you really need to know. And there's a reason you don't see profesional racers wearing rurok.
Best way to go about it is watch a reputable unbiased reviewer, and get the helmet you like the look of. I got the jormungandyr atlas 4.0 and its a very good helmet
I work in the motorcycle industry and sell all kinds of brands o helmets. Honestly I’ve had customers say that the ruroc was the worst helmet they’ve ever bought, I’ve taken a ruroc apart, and they aren’t that great, sponsored or not, I’ll stick to my Arai thanks!
Thanks for the insight. You did give the juicy news tho. On the business end it seems that they are shady AF. and people also shit on the company for how they handled criticism. The helmet itself is fine at least now. But the people behind the helmet are why there's a large group that don't want to do business with them and hand them over their hard earned cash.
I have a 2.0 and a 3.0 My 2.0 is a pile of shit, the padding constantly comes out and it’s noisy as hell. My 3.0 is an improvement but far from being a $700 helmet, the main reason I’ve kept with it is the design and the shockwave unit is awesome. It whistles at anything over 50 kmph with the visor up which is incredibly annoying and you have to wear plugs it’s so loud I don’t like the company however, I’ve always felt they use dodgy sales tactics and knowingly hold back fixes to sell the next gen. As for the vloggers, I cringed at every single one of them that was sponsored, spewing nothing but positive comments, no negatives for a helmet with plenty of negatives, it’s all about the $$$
I give you positive feedback on your review of the overall video. We also have a group of over 1,000 Ruroc fans (in Taiwan). The official gave us a lot of support and sponsorship in Atlas 2.0, allowing us to freely promote this brand in It is popular in our country, but after the birth of Atlas 3.0 and the replacement of the entire upper-level CEO, Ruroc officials no longer care about us, which makes us actually quite sad, because we all really love this brand (even though it does have many shortcomings), and we are still To promote the Ruroc brand, we just turn to other brands and companies for sponsorship so that we can continue to promote Ruroc in our own country. I am Atlas 2.0 Diablo motorcycle rider (Even though it has been 4 years, I still wear it) I miss...old CEO...
I love the look of their helmets and the styles they do are cool, but I've been put off buying one due to the bad press they got when it came to build quality and more importantly "CUSTOMER SERVICE!" I live in the UK and can honestly say I've seen maybe 3 or 4 people riding in one which says a lot if you ask me, I'm looking at replacing my helmet in the new year after I noticed a crack in the chin bar below my visor lock and as much as id love to get the track helmet of theirs I'm going with a more reputable brand (I heard Alpinestars R10 is due for general sale in 2024 so may wait for that) Anyway keep doing what your doing Jake 🤙
For me they are too expensive £400 for a helmet it needs to be a bit special they have a 4-star SHARP rating but there are £80 Vcan helmets with the same rating.
Honest video, love the look of the helmet but find to many people had have bad experience with them. Ruroc never seem to take on board what the buyer or sponsor has to say with feedback.
I watched your videos of you cutting the atlas4.0 in half, and even though you said it was better made than previous lids I’m still not convinced on buying one especially when there’s the likes of arai and shoei at similar price’s
Your videos were some of the ones I looked at when it came to deciding if I was gonna get a Ruroc or not. Finally decided to pull the trigger and got an Atlas 4.0. I’m not one to brown nose companies, but your videos helped and I’ll say that they’re solid helmets overall
@@chris79877 Yeah, for that price you'd be crazy to NOT buy Shoei or Arai. Especially since you can dial in the fit of a Shoei or Arai with different sized comfort pads, meaning a custom fit for all head shapes. That's one thing that bugs me when people review helmets from personal experience. They usually have a huge empty head that needs a large round helmet while most of us need an intermediate oval, so their customers heads won't fit as well.
Jake, I give you BIG props as one of the original OG motovloggers for sharing how the sausage is made when it comes to sponsorships. I am a small channel and I am happy to remain a small channel and say the hell whatever I want (especially when it pisses off the established pimps in the motovlogging community). The "Ruroc Effect" has happened at least 3 times over the last couple years - it's pretty obvious when every Motovlogger with 100K of subscribers or more suddenly starts pimping the latest phone mount, helmet, or ADV bike. The dissonance with Ruroc was extreme - on one hand you had all the major motovloggers talking about how "awesome and exciting" the helmets were, while on the other hand, independent, small channels who bought the helmets and reviewed them thought they were lousy (like across the board.) I rarely watch sponsored motovloggers beause of this - just keeping it real.
I bought an Atlas 4.0 Ghost earlier this year. The polystyrene liner was both visible from the front of the helmet and also at a slight angle. I then noticed the whole polystyrene liner was offset slightly with more being visible on the left side of the visor opening then the right side. I took photographs and a replacement was arranged. The replacement arrived and was not only the same, but was full of short hairs. Obviously worn already. I contacted them again and received a second replacement. The polystyrene is still visible, offset and creaks. There is a slight fault/difference in the moulding at the top of the two 'nostrils' (front vents). The whole lining is offset slightly (rotated) within the helmet (I assume as a result of the polystyrene being offset). Generally, in terms of finish and quality of build, it is the poorest of my 5 helmets. I have an old Shoei, 2 AGVs, a Caberg and a cheapie MDS, and the Ruroc is the most disappointing on close scrutiny of finish and symmetry. And the crazy thing is, I still almost bought another Ruroc in the Black Friday sale, with 50% off the Iron Man helmet!! Does 50% off tell us something?
Could you please do a video on some companies you chose not to work with and why. I feel like you could be the voice to steer consumers in a better direction. Also, I think the term is white labeling when companies buy a product out of a catalog and rebrand it.
Most already said it but your integrity is on point! As brand who has worked with Jake before, his goal is to keep it real and not over hype or fluff the merch for the sake of making money. Good to work with riders who will give feedback back to the brand and not say yes to everything. 🤘🤓
when they were still designing the jacket line they made a group be invite for it and if you said anything besides what they wanted or flat out praised them they would kick you so ya i can see them being like that to the people they were paying (i got kicked just for bringing up some concerns )
Every now and then it pops in my head how you used to say the roc jeans clip. “RoOOOC!!!” So then I have to scream it in my helmet when riding. That and the mortal combat chant.
Funny thing is that Icon did a kit thing like that to make the airflite helmets like the berserker. I finally got a berserker and loved it then found out that they are not in production anymore. Hard to find the goggle lenses and goggle body these days.
So actually used to work at Ruroc... It's quite sad really as a lot of the designers and "lower down" staff do genuinely want the helmets to be great and amazing but they're let down by what the higher ups say/ram through. Like the 4.0 had some really cool initial technical designs but then had cost cutting shit thrown at it. They're good for instagram riders who only go out for an hour every other weekend and only ride to get photos in. But as someone who rode in the 4.0 120 miles daily for 3 months and then 30 miles minimum daily the other 9 months it fell apart real quick.
I am a bike (motorcycle) rider in the UK, as well as an advanced skier, and I am in my mid 40s, and I've never heard of Ruroc, until only a few years ago on a American RUclipsr Bike Reviewing channel. ...so I guess that means they're mostly an American only brand, and thus, given their tendencies for US corporate style to be BS companies or they become actual good companies, thus, IMHO, they strike me from what practices you describe marketing wise, they seem to be heading towards the snake oil salesman side of things. Plus as far as motorsports helmets concerned, the minimum I use on the road are *_ACU Silver_* or *_ACU Gold_* safety standard rated specifically suitable for international racing: personally, I don't trust DOT standards, sorry, I can't take a standards system that thinks a plastic stahl-helm is apparently offers safety for its wearer is suitable for being rated roadworthy, ...since motorsports (i.e: motorcycle, car & truck racing) helmets are generally much more stringent and require greater specifications than Alpine (skiing & snowboarding) sports, and for general safety, even a cheap motor racing helmet is better than some POS brand that's never had much if any circuit action that can help prove via unfortunate events, the veracity of their manufactured safety, especially with a fairly restrictive limits on contractual stpulations for sponsored persons providing Ruroc with a cheaper marketing, that ignores critical comments and content that could improve their quality, fit, ethics and standing in the much broader & stringent motoring world. Ruroc *are not* _Bell Helmets,_ nor _AGV, Shoei, Arai, Davida, Shark,_ or even ..for snowsports _Uvex, Puma, Head, Rossignal, Salomon,_ or _Nordica_ etc!
Ruroc are based in the UK but you won't be trying one on in a motorcycle store because you can't buy any from them. Tells me everything I need to know about the company.
I’m so glad to see you calling out the dinks (and that’s being polite) at Ruroc for what they are. Pathetic, fashion focused over true rider safety. Instead pushing out trash year after year making it seem like some huge rider breakthrough has come out. I appreciate your honesty. People like Chaseonwheels continue to shill for the brand and it’s pretty pathetic. I really used to enjoy his content until he sold his soul to Ruroc.
I looked at the ruroc helmets when i was going to upgrade from my scorpion helmet, but they just seemed way overplayed and from the smaller channels it looked like the build quality on them was lacking. I ended up getting a Klim Krios Pro, which I absolutely love. While there are probably some helmets better, this one is very comfortable and light. I know it will protect my head, which I was not sure of with the rurocs.
I used to think the Klim Krios helmets were great...but after buying and owning one, man....so dissapointed. I come from a mfg background, which only means I pay some attention....but anyway, they're a low to medium quality helmet at a premium price. The're really not good. I got a Shoei helmet now.
After owning a ruroc atlas 4.0 for a few months i can tell anyone that they just aren't worth the cost, constant sales happening all the time (i paid £400, a few week later i could of saved £210) utter joke of a company and i feel these sales are the tipping point for them if they fold or not. As for the quality its not there. Constant issues switching visors where i feel the pin mounting points are just going to snap and i can barely fit the visor without having to give it a hard slap its only going to last so long before it breaks. Avoid.
I like the look of Ruroc and have looked for honest reviews. Jake is correct, you can’t expect an honest review of a product by someone sponsored by that brand. A paid review or sponsorship equals false or misleading reviews. That said, I’ve read a lot of reviews from people who purchased Ruroc and it really seemed to be an 80% / 20% split with 80% good and 20% receiving helmets with defects and Ruroc not really giving a F. So, I’m with other commenters, if I’m spending Shoei money, I’m buying Shoei.
I love the honesty here and always appreciate Jake’s integrity but I have to say him defending their build quality is going a bit too far, idk about the 4.0 but every model before that was of VERY questionable build quality, they even said “we have customers that do R&D” instead of doing all of it themselves instead of just the bare minimum, that along with not paying you and now millions of dollars being “lost” and untraceable from there records, and them not caring about specifying sponsorships just all Add up to a shady company that I would never trust, especially when they charge about the same as Shoei and Arai with None of the heritage and knowledge.
You must have gotten a special influencer model. I work in the industry and I have seen so many of these straight out of the box falling apart or with QC issues. It always sucks speaking to a new rider that is having to replace their Ruroc in 3 months because it is falling apart and Ruroc is doing nothing for them. Atleast when they get to me they won't ever have that issue again.
in the back of a random upholstery shop, there was a Jake the Garden Snake gnome shrine. visitors left tokens, trinkets and coins to honor their favorite motovlogger. i will look for the pic i took.
I actually bought my berserker. No sponsorship. I wore the shit out of it, still do sometimes, but the quality for price was not as high as other brands in the same price range and it’s way to hot for summer months in southern nevada. The berserker was definitely their best model though and not sure why they discontinued it.
Jake, you're the GOAT of moto vlogs. Been watching you for years. I hope you've gotten what you hoped for out of these videos. They really are entertaining.
Ruroc's HQ's are apparently next to my old place of work on a business park in Gloucester! They defintely don't shout about it. It goes to show what the UK folk think of them when most of the local motorcycle dealerships in Gloucester don't stock them! I find it rather perpelxing that they're not supporting local businesses, so that alone says a lot.
only just come across your channel nice to see someone that just talks real about this sort of thing as the age of youtube and internet its clouded the marketing pool with paid advertising type thing keep it up nice wheelie too did the same to my MT09sp too offroad mode active haha
All I know about the Ruroc is that I bought an Atlas and when I picked it up it literally fell apart in my hands. EPS just straight into my hands when adjusting the interior. Sent it back, never looked at it again.
My wife had an atlas 2... it was horrible. Wind noise was awful. Felt cheap. Totally put off by them. Then went to a bike show a few years later looked at the 4.. dont know if the wind noise is as bad but the feel of the helmet supprised me. Felt way better.. so much so i thought about buying one. Time will tell.
I uploaded a helmet review and I had a notification from Ruroc it was a giant paragraph rant type reply. I didn't click on it since I was busy. I got home and wanted to check what they wrote and it had been DELETED. 😂
As someone who spent almost 4 years at Ruroc all I’d say is the people there are good people and not trying to “scam” people or just spunk money on marketing and no r&d. Is it perfect? No. Are Ruroc perfect? No. If they ever make it who knows but I sincerely hope they do and would love to see it.
Those magnetic neck straps are really good for snowmobiles when you have super thick gloves on but otherwise most gloves are thin enough that I'd say they aren't that necessary.
On mine the cheek pads were falling off everytime i put the helmet only after 1 year of use I decided to sell it (Ruroc 2.0), Otherwise was really loud however with ear plugs was more than ok! The Shockwave was also working perfectly and I actually liked the fact that was behind the helmet, gave the minimalistic look (not like Sena or some other brands) Overall was OK helmet, for the money you can buy better one but the styling is very good
I currently own Atlas 4.0 and It's alright. The chin strap is already falling apart. Speakers are crap (just put in better ones). But like I feel you can buy better for less. only thing they got going is the designs are pretty cool!
I tend to steer clear of anything that is heavily marketed on social media like instagram. There’s a lot of companies that spend a ton on marketing and not much on the actual product. For the price they want, I’d rather buy an arai or something. I don’t care about having a stormtrooper graphic
I got their Superman helmet. Had a couple defects UNDER the gloss coat so QC sucks. Asked for a red visor to call it even. They agreed and sent me a gold visor. I have had a 100% better experience with Bell lol
The only way i was ever convinced to buy a ruroc was when they were doing these crazy 4.0 bundles with a bunch of free shit, including the bluetooth like 2 different tinted visors. Had it for 1 day without riding in it, just wearing it around thw house and it didnt fit that well, the audio quality on the bluetooth wasnt great, and i could definitely see them being loud in wind due to design and fitment. I sent it all back and bought an arai instead. The ruroc looked awesome despite being kinda huge and giving me a bobble head, but i couldnt get past the cons for the price
Reminds me of how cycle cruza would never actually say these e bicycle companies are giving him these garbage Ebikes that he is always hyping up! He never actually says the bike was given to him always made it sound like he was buying them. Ever since then i unsubscribe from him because he us flat out LIAR! Mad respect to you jake for being honest
Good on you for speaking out, glad to see you're not a shill - except for Insta360 that is. :D I'm kidding, I bought an X3 a month ago and I'm getting into it, I find it's great for b-roll. Keep it up!
The thing i noticed was when they were coming out with the 3.0 or 4.0, they released a photo on the interior, what was tested, and when it came to market, it was totally different. Which is shady. Also, the video I saw of the guy who sawed one in half, also did so with other helmets and compared the differences, including the pads, and yeah Ruroc is trash.
Thanks for watching my video on the cutting of the 3.0. I think (this is just my opinion) that Ruroc received a HUGE bad shipment of 3.0’s from China that didn’t match the quality of the initial run. If I had to guess, they had to make a decision to sell them because the decision to toss them in the trash likely would have bankrupt the company. That’s just my theory. I think that overseas manufacturing is fine, but QA/QC needs to be an even larger priority when outsourcing production.
You know where my Engine Hawk Jacket is? Hanging on a rack gathering dust. Cause (and can confirm) they’re hot as sh*t. But then, when it gets cold at night it’s not warm enough. Lucky I got it like 50% off at the time. Looks nice though.
I recently bought one of their helmets due to the amount of people saying high praise. It feels like a helmet, that being said… I like my Sedici Sistema II modular more, more comfortable, can raise the face at stops instead of taking the helmet off. Also, the transition visor doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Man I got a couple Sedici helmets now and I really like them. To be fair RevZilla gives them to me and I can make money from affiliate sales. But I’m not technically sponsored. I do honestly like them. Solid mid-tier helmet.
Yeah I had no interest in the brand because of a motovlogger who basically just made infomercials for them. When asked actual questions about the helmet they would say i dunno which is a red flag.
Ruroc's main focus has plainly always been on their marketing. Over R&D, safety, QC and better manufacturing! The more a product is flogged in commercials or by paid sponsors, the more I avoid it.
I ran an Atlas 3 along with my wife, are there better helmets out, yes, are there worse helmets, yes. I wouldnt let my wife nor I wear them if they were utter crap. Now its winter here so I am onto a new helmet for the next riding season.
As my channel is small I only get a few offers now and again, just for free products to review as I please, only ever agreed to one I think. Recently I agreed to one and they replied with, basically "we will send you the information and the script", as soon as I saw script, I just went cold on them, never will I review products without giving my own true opinion.
I bought a ruroc atles 4.0 and dropped it from 2 feet and it cracked. I'm so pissed off. I have contacted them and nothing. I really want them to replace the helmet. They refuse to talk to me about the problem. I don't know where to go now.
Aside from feom the way a lot of ppl didnt like the quality of the helmets. The bixes they sent to the "reviewers"/sponsored riders, had waaay more things that d9dnt c9me with the actusl helmet as standard. The unboxings would have like 3 visors and their comms all in one box but when you would go try to purchsce thst set everything apart from the helmet was an add on. There seemed to not be communication with those content creators about what actually came in the box because most of the videos i watched said "lOoK aT AlL tHe StUfF tHaT cAmE iN tHe Box!" Which was incredibly misleading. At the end of the day the helmets were out of my price range but they do look cool 🤷🏻♂️
I knew it was all influencer hyped up 💩 I value my life too much to wear that junk. I always laugh when I see people talk them up then months later they are in an AGV or something else with a legit reputation. One local let the replace his helmet 3 times and it still ended up getting used. 😂🤣😂
The only comment about the brand that I gave any thoughts "there must be something to it" was the complaints about being noisy due to the design of the fake air intake below the ears creating extra wind noise. I tend not to give any credit to opinions if they are not overwhelmingly the same and not from professionals until I tried myself.
I purchased the 1.0 when it first came out and spending around $600, I felt the helmet was poor quality even though it may have been safe. I sent it back and went with Aria for the same price.
Unfortunately from what I understand the track you visited in this video is some high roller only club. I was really excited to have a track practically in my backyard but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Hey brother, not watched a moto vlogger since I stopped riding. But I found you guys again! Sick content as aways, noti turned to ALL, also first time I'm seeing this bike, its dope!
I will specifically avoid sponsored products because that means they have the profit margins to spend on sponsors. I'd rather spend my money on the companies making good products that don't have such big profit margins. Also 7:22 why do people get so touchy avoid people riding on UNUSED land?
They wanted me to sign an exclusive contract where i had to have one of their helmets in EVERY video, even if it wasnt motorcycle related. And their offer was pretty laughable at the time. Two Raid Shadow Legend ads a year was substantially more profitable. At that point, they had alot of other riders in their pockets and their quality seemed lacking. Told em no thanks, id rather just get free icon helmest whenever i need 😂
"Two Raid Shadow Legend ads a year was substantially more profitable" has to be one of the best burns I've heard in a while.
Ruroc helmets suck

That’s really interesting I could’ve sworn they would be coming out with an Atlas 5.0 at some point
@@GodDamnItCarl oh wow I’d this public information? Where did you find this out of curiosity? Yeah they’ve been teasing the 5.0 on their private Facebook page so I assume it’s coming
The CEO resignation was not his choice, he was forced out.
Ruroc is trash Chase. Please let that go.
Ruroc is straight garbage
He literally ruined his reputation & respect by being ruroc’s “good boy”.

I have SOOOO much to say about Ruroc. I would LOVE to send you some helmets that were cut in half to do some content with if you would like.
They make terrible helmets
I liked mine but they are overpriced for the quality
@@ghostrides5486 They really should be in the $300-$400 range.
The sheer aggressiveness at which AdjrianNickelodeon pushed Ruroc and defended them against anyone who had anything bad to say about the helmet is what steered me well clear of the brand. Even if it wasn’t sus, it sure looked like it.
For sure. There wasn't an emerging tech reason or value reason being talked about. So it comes across as a bit... blessed
And this is what I tried to explain to ruroc. People don’t like this kinda marketing and see right through it.
The worst part about that is he's an ex industry employee I mean he's had the training around helmets and should have known better...

All of this was and is true but the current 4.0 track helmet is great and pretty well built. Don’t like the company but the helmet I got is excellent
Hahaha that old man was definitely sizing you up in case he needed to hip toss you at the track :D
I honestly never looked at them over a Shoei or Arai, the price is similar and they've been around forever.
That old man had a pipe in his hand or something 😂 dude was ready
Sadly so many people are so thirsty for sponsorships that they will jump through any hoops to get there, personal integrity be damned! Hi five to you for keeping it legit
The industry needs more of this. So many culture vultures on social media/youtube these days. I'd love a helmet sponsor. I wear Bell because I like them. I've reached out to Bell many times with no response. I could find a company that WOULD send me helmets/pay me but I'd rather spend my own money and keep my integrity. Well done on this one, Jake.
*Gasp* how dare they fire the GARDEN SNAKE!!!!!
Respect. Man's got to have principles.
Man that’s a shame
I’ll share my experience, I was asked (years ago). I told them I don’t do product reviews or showcase items I would not buy myself. I’ve enjoyed my hiatus from RUclips, life gets in the way with family / kids etc. that said, I never wanted RUclips to be a business for me, was always a hobby.
You're right , can't trust anybody's review if they are sponsored by the product
bit a old comment, but same goes for bikes, big channels = actually dont trust them on bike "reviews" good for first impression tho tbh. always try to find normal people from YT or forums to ask about the specific model
It’s always refreshing to find a channel with someone that speaks the truth and actually has integrity.
You always remind me of the old days of motovlogging. Just talking honestly while riding a bike.
I loved the design of the atlas. Even contemplated buying it. But until I see professionals racing in them I just can't trust it. I'll stick to arai
You are a stand up guy Jake! That's rare today! Good for you!
I have a 2.0 and a 3.0
My 2.0 is a pile of shit, the padding constantly comes out and it’s noisy as hell.
My 3.0 is an improvement but far from being a $700 helmet, the main reason I’ve kept with it is the design and the shockwave unit is awesome.
It whistles at anything over 50 kmph with the visor up which is incredibly annoying and you have to wear plugs it’s so loud
I don’t like the company however, I’ve always felt they use dodgy sales tactics and knowingly hold back fixes to sell the next gen.
I am Atlas 2.0 Diablo motorcycle rider (Even though it has been 4 years, I still wear it)
I miss...old CEO...
Lol i love that your hypothetical about linus tech tips actually happened exactly as you described
Honest video, love the look of the helmet but find to many people had have bad experience with them. Ruroc never seem to take on board what the buyer or sponsor has to say with feedback.
I was the “guy who cut one of their helmets in half”. I thought it was VERY odd they didn’t have sponsored riders in Vegas for that event.
I watched your videos of you cutting the atlas4.0 in half, and even though you said it was better made than previous lids I’m still not convinced on buying one especially when there’s the likes of arai and shoei at similar price’s
@@chris79877 I totally understand
Your videos were some of the ones I looked at when it came to deciding if I was gonna get a Ruroc or not. Finally decided to pull the trigger and got an Atlas 4.0. I’m not one to brown nose companies, but your videos helped and I’ll say that they’re solid helmets overall
We had a handful of sponsored riders in vegas but not enough honestly
@@chris79877 Yeah, for that price you'd be crazy to NOT buy Shoei or Arai. Especially since you can dial in the fit of a Shoei or Arai with different sized comfort pads, meaning a custom fit for all head shapes.
That's one thing that bugs me when people review helmets from personal experience. They usually have a huge empty head that needs a large round helmet while most of us need an intermediate oval, so their customers heads won't fit as well.
YAY! the saving kittens footage to start the video! That's pretty much all I need. I'm good for the rest of the day.
I could tell some stories. But I don’t wanna get sued. Have to be careful.
at least you got yours.. I ordered one in january ... of 2021.. im still waiting for it. zero customer support response.
Most already said it but your integrity is on point! As brand who has worked with Jake before, his goal is to keep it real and not over hype or fluff the merch for the sake of making money. Good to work with riders who will give feedback back to the brand and not say yes to everything. 🤘🤓
Moto camp nerd is awesome. Love what you’re doing over there.
Real integrity in this propped up clown.
when they were still designing the jacket line they made a group be invite for it and if you said anything besides what they wanted or flat out praised them they would kick you so ya i can see them being like that to the people they were paying (i got kicked just for bringing up some concerns )
I like how Jake has always maintained his integrity despite being sponsored which is why I've watched him for so many years.
Plus as far as motorsports helmets concerned, the minimum I use on the road are *_ACU Silver_* or *_ACU Gold_* safety standard rated specifically suitable for international racing: personally, I don't trust DOT standards, sorry, I can't take a standards system that thinks a plastic stahl-helm is apparently offers safety for its wearer is suitable for being rated roadworthy,
...since motorsports (i.e: motorcycle, car & truck racing) helmets are generally much more stringent and require greater specifications than Alpine (skiing & snowboarding) sports, and for general safety, even a cheap motor racing helmet is better than some POS brand that's never had much if any circuit action that can help prove via unfortunate events, the veracity of their manufactured safety, especially with a fairly restrictive limits on contractual stpulations for sponsored persons providing Ruroc with a cheaper marketing, that ignores critical comments and content that could improve their quality, fit, ethics and standing in the much broader & stringent motoring world.
Ruroc *are not* _Bell Helmets,_ nor _AGV, Shoei, Arai, Davida, Shark,_ or even ..for snowsports _Uvex, Puma, Head, Rossignal, Salomon,_ or _Nordica_ etc!
Exactly. There is a reason why there isn’t a single MotoGP rider that wears a Ruroc. That alone says it all
Ruroc are based in the UK but you won't be trying one on in a motorcycle store because you can't buy any from them.
Atleast when they get to me they won't ever have that issue again.
in the back of a random upholstery shop, there was a Jake the Garden Snake gnome shrine.

i will look for the pic i took.
You got a lot of 'Tegridy, Jake. And I respect that. Thinkin' I might be able to swing that dollar a month to join ye olde patreon
Those magnetic neck straps are really good for snowmobiles when you have super thick gloves on but otherwise most gloves are thin enough that I'd say they aren't that necessary.
On mine the cheek pads were falling off everytime i put the helmet only after 1 year of use I decided to sell it (Ruroc 2.0),
Otherwise was really loud however with ear plugs was more than ok! The Shockwave was also working perfectly and I actually liked the fact that was behind the helmet, gave the minimalistic look (not like Sena or some other brands)
Overall was OK helmet, for the money you can buy better one but the styling is very good
I currently own Atlas 4.0 and It's alright.
Great insight and good tips on what to think about if ever brands decide to come knocking. Appreciate the information.
I was considering buying one. Thank you for this video. Getting a Bell 9 adventure now
I got their Superman helmet.
Keep it up!
They’re the king of amazing b roll! It’s a lot to do but I love them.
Double D ring is a must IMO. Appreciate your honesty mate.
I knew it was all influencer hyped up 💩
I value my life too much to wear that junk. I always laugh when I see people talk them up then months later they are in an AGV or something else with a legit reputation. One local let the replace his helmet 3 times and it still ended up getting used. 😂🤣😂
Ive always loved their snowboarding helmets. Even crash tested one in a rock garden once.....lol never tried one of their street helmets
Ill be completely honest, i love cheap helmets. My AFX FX-41 has been my favorite helmet I've ever owned. Next up im trying Sedici's ADV helmet.
Unfortunately from what I understand the track you visited in this video is some high roller only club. I was really excited to have a track practically in my backyard but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Great insight, thanks for sharing.
Also 7:22 why do people get so touchy avoid people riding on UNUSED land?
liability
I think their helmets just look dumbbbb. Seriously though having integrity and recognizing conflict of interest is so refreshing.
