Tried this recipe today. So good! The best I've ever had Keto or Gluten Free wise. Definitely has that butter flavor and tender crumb. I didn't have phyllium husk, but still was perfect.
Yummy!!! We lobe biscuits and gravy so much! We've been doing chaffles and gravy topped with a fried egg. It's delicious!!! But i will be trying your biscuits recipe, they look perfect!!❤
Ok, we tried to make these, or I should say I made the gravy, my husband made the biscuits. I dont know how, but he ended up with twice the amount of butter in the biscuits. Now we know why they were FLAT. The gravy is great! We will be trying the biscuits again soon. I will have to supervise the butter amount. Lol
I tried a similar one but didn’t use psyllium husk. Does the biscuit taste good? Or just have a good texture? The one I did tasted like gritty almond flour. It didn’t pass my first test with my daughter who immediately asked where the biscuits were. I’m looking for something that actually has good taste as I am just starting out keto recipes. It may be hard for this particular recipe for me since I make authentic biscuits and gravy twice a month lol.
If I don't have an option on psyllium husk can I use the powder or substitute with flaxseed meal? Bc my store doesn't have the other and it will take about 2 weeks to get the other ingredient here.
I see you didn't get a reply 11 months ago, i probably wont either. I had the same questions as you. Ill probably go with someone else's recipe. Check out Highfalutin' low carb, he tests out Keto recipes and so does Low Carb Twins. They are awesome and are eager to answer/respond to your questions.
Question. If the butter did get to warm after folding the dough on top of each after 4 or 5 times could you put the dough back in the fridge to get cold again?
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋 I love the biscuits but I'm gonna be lazy and use 4 oz ice cream scoop and make what they say here in the South "Cat's Head biscuits". lol. I really don't like using the Xamb gum instead I use one egg yolk and mix it in well after I put the milk in and the milk comes up to the temperature slow boil that's how I thicken all my cream sauces the key is to keep mixing the sauce when you add the egg yolk until it thick. Like I said I just don't like that gum. Another great video 👍👍👍 take care stay safe ,stay strong ,stay healthy and remember Ho Ho Ho Go KETO❤🎅🤙
I've never heard of cat's head biscuits! I'll have to look that up. Like the idea of using the egg yolk. It's a good option for those that don't want to use xanthan gum. Thanks!!
@@KetoFocusarrowroot not big on the cooking scene in the late 60s because of the galloping gourmet he used it to thicken everything LOL and white wine to dissolve it LOL he drank it while he was cooking🥴
Sure! I usually like to use arrowroot powder, 1 teaspoon. But I put xanthan gum in this recipe because most people have access to it. You can find arrowroot powder in the spice section of the grocery store. Also cooking the gravy longer if it doesn't look thick enough.
Looks good but reason i moved away from keto was all the recipes use heavy whipping cream or cream cheese etc and I'm very sensitive to dairy. Gives me IBS flare ups....moving to carnivore where i feel best. I may cheat here and there but longer your on it i notice its much easier to get back on track cause your body prefers to function that way. Thanks for the food visual......
Oh, how wonderful! The biscuits look like a lot of work, but worth it to have a good biscuit again. You could gently mold the corners to make them the traditional round shape. Thanks!
Yes! You could definitely make then round. They don't really take that much work. I can make these biscuits in less then 30 minutes. The molding and folding is the longest step.
I like to make the biscuits square, because you use up your dough and don't have to rework it to make more biscuits. If your knife presses the dough down as you cut, use dental floss. I saw this trick years ago on a PBS cooking show.
@@dianehaynes1457 wish we had an Aldi, Whole Foods, Costco. We have WM, Sam's, HEB and Brookshire Brothers. These stores in my small town have not woken up yet. Its crazy when you have to drive 80 miles out of your way or wait over a week from purchasing online.
@@KetoFocus I do use it ...but wasn't sure how Keto friendly it was. I use it in a cookie recipe, all gravies, and other stuff. I think I ended up doing that mainly, because I'm not a huge fan of coconut flour. It has this weird flavor that kind of sticks in the back of my throat, but I LOVE coconut everything else. Texture issues also. I didn't really want to use xanthan gum either... kind of on the fence about it's issues and not sure how it'd affect my family's digestive tract. So anywhere that I need a thickener, or would've in the past used corn starch, I use tapioca powder instead. LOVING your channel, thank you so much!! OH, also, I use the Siete Family tortillas for a lot of alternatives. I'm in TX so everything here is Tex-Mex ....GOTTA HAVE MY TORTILLAS!! They make them almond flour and cassava flour. The almond flour are a bit more crispy, and I prefer them, whereas the cassava are softer and chewier so my hubby prefers them.
in your video making the biscuits you left off the measurements for the "MIX" of baking powder, baking soda, & salt, the heavy whipping and the chilled sour cream. can you let us know what they are
Tried this recipe today. So good! The best I've ever had Keto or Gluten Free wise. Definitely has that butter flavor and tender crumb. I didn't have phyllium husk, but still was perfect.
Wonderful! Good to know that without the psyllium husk it still came out perfect. Thanks for trying!
i came to the comments just to see if any one tried it without the pysllium husk. I have everything else!
Looks fantastic
Wow! Just wow. That gravy omg. So good.
Biscottis and gravy is my favorite. I’m so excited
Mine too! Is recipe is totally worth the effort...even though it really doesn't take that long to make.
You had me at biscuit, but i stayed for the gravy... yum
LOL! They are hard to resist.
@@KetoFocus can you use store bought buscuits
@@brittanyknapp4042 I have never seen store bought keto biscuits. Most store bought keto foods still have non keto ingredients and too many carbs.
I’ve struggled with finding good keto gravy recipes and damn I’m glad I found this one, just made it and it was easy and awesome, thanks!
You had me til the onion lol
Yeah same here lol! Hey to each their own but as soon as I saw that they weren’t small enough to dissolve, I was OUT!
@@carllawson8423 Exactly!! I couldn't shut the video off fast enough

Any suggestions for those of us who can't do psyllium husk? Possibly guar gum? Thanks.

Biscuits go to Staples going to have to try them for sure

Arrowroot flour is good for thickening as well. I might try your way as well.

Yes, try it and let me know what you think. It's not 100% close in taste but it's been closest I've tried.
I am curious what the psyllium husk does for it? I have used that before and it has a sandy/gritty texture. I might try without.
It helps to give it that airy texture
Any sub for the whole psyllium husk? It is not instantly available in smaller towns like mine EVEN though we do have a Walmart.
Can't do nuts, too much nickel. Makes me blister. So will be trying this sausage gravy with pepper jack chaffles.

If I don’t use onions because my kids don’t like it will it mess up the gravy?
Nope, you can omit the onions and it will still turn out perfect 😊

What if you can’t use almond flour?
Try replace the almond flour with coconut flour, but use 1/3 the amount.
Will powder psysilum work?
I haven’t tried it but would only use half of the powdered form.
What is the difference between the whole vs. powdered psyllium husk? I am sure you made that distinction for a reason.
Keto King has a great video breaking down psyllium husk.

It that what it is? The brand I use doesn't turn purple, but it must be the powder then.

Where do you find sausage without corn syrup, dextrose, or sugar? I would love this!
Use ground pork! Then you can flavor it with sage, anise seed, salt and pepper.
If you have an aldis close by they have a sausage that doesn't have anything but pork and spices
