Binondo is not just the oldest but also the biggest in the world, so it would have been better if you went for a proper tour guide, and food crawl to learn more of the internating stoires and history of the old Binondo and comic foodie places that Chinatown is famous for.
Calamansi can be used as a dip but squeeze a couple in a glass of water and add sugar. Put in fridge and drink after cooling. A lot tastier than lime. Calamansi is the next big thing here. The pork/shrimp thing is "shumai". So they don't have this in Mauritius? Prawn thing is "har gow". Some classic filo food, chicken or pork adobo, afritada, caldaratta, kare kare, longganisa sausages, crispy pata. In fact we had filo food today for lunch an dinner. Cu!
I thought it was funny but also that you’d find it interesting to know that though Chuan Kee has a long line, the restaurant above it serves the same food only slightly more expensive as all profit from that “mezzanine” goes to supporting the volunteer fire brigade that operates that “ube” firetruck you admired later. But wait; there’s more. Don’t feel bad as the restaurant above Eng Bee Tin owns both Chuan Kee, Eng Bee Tin (itself the mother corporation), and the Great Buddha that you enjoyed. That’s not all- he also owns Mr. Ube where you had really good Laksa noodles. And the firetruck? Why’d you think he named the noodle place MR UBE? LoL! 😂 practically all the places you visited have one owner. 😀 Incidentally, my wife and I were with friends at Cafe Mezzanine last Sunday. We just love the food there. You made all the perfect choices. Enjoy the islands, guys! …and ask the locals- they’re always only too willing to help. Mabuhay! 🇵🇭
wow, that is really amazing. if only I had know, we pretty much supported one company the whole day, at least the firetruck should be safe with so many people spending money there. , and thanks for all the great information
Now… has anyone told you about ChowKing? That’s owned by Jollibee along with… The Jollibee Group has eight wholly owned brands (Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal, Yonghe King, Hong Zhuang Yuan, Smashburger); four franchised brands (Burger King, Panda Express, and Yoshinoya in the Philippines, and Tim Ho Wan in certain territories in China); 80% ownership of The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf; 60% ownership in the SuperFoods Group that owns Highlands Coffee; and 51% ownership of Milksha, a popular Taiwanese bubble tea brand. JFC also has a business venture with award-winning Chef Rick Bayless for Tortazo, a Mexican fast-casual restaurant business in the United States. 😳
