God, Yuri Lowenthal absolutely killed it in this game. The anger and hurt in his voice when he's confronting Otto, and the scream when he's stabbed, the tears in "I don't know what to do". I've always liked him in every role I've heard him in, but this is my fav BY FAR.

I love the writing of these two scenes. Octavius, a mentor and almost father figure to Peter, knows he's Spider-Man and still tries to kill him for his own benefit, then begs for his life with threats. Aunt May, who raised Peter and is basically his mother, knows he's Spider-Man and tells him to do what's right, even at the cost of her own life. What a heart breaking life for him.
Both learned that he’s Spider Man early on, but didn’t disclose it to Peter until his last last encounter with them.

They even removed the part where Peter's face was hidden in darkness when he was about to give Aunt May the serum. That's a true shame. To me it represented that Peter was going down a dark path, something he would definitely regret in the long run by saving his aunt but letting thousands of others die. It was beautifully done once his face appeared in the light again after he decided not to do it. They should have kept that.
The new version uses ray-tracing and other more "high-tech" lighting technologies that should theoretically simulate light better. The problem is, the PS4 had handcrafted lighting for various sets and scenes, and even though it wasn't as realistic, it looked better most of the time.
I hate everything they changed about Peter. He looks terrible.

This was such a sad ending, but I’m glad that Peter managed to save countless people. It really make me cry both happy and sad when May died, but she told him how proud she was that he was Spider-Man. Even thought Peter lost his final family member it’s hard to to feel happy for him that Aunt May left telling him she was proud of him and wanted the best for him.

I legit was not expecting the ending we had at this game, just the storytelling the things at stake with peters options, the fight between him and Dr Otto. Peter/Spider-Man embodies spreading good/kindness KNOWING and expecting nothing in return, yes those moments of wanting to catch a break or have something go his way. But in the end he does what is best for others and those he cares about.

@@MembersOfHistory despite knowing the end it didn’t ruin the enjoyment of it for me ( well, not enjoyment that Aunt May died, but I think you get what I mean) I actually found a video with all the cut scenes edited in movie form since then. Took me a day and a half to watch it all because the video was three hours long but I thought the full story was brilliant. 😄

This scene made me cry so hard. One of the things I will always love about spiderman is how human he is and just seeing him in this scenario really fucked me up.seeing Spiderman, one if not the Greatest role models I've ever had in my life have this sort of moment, a role model that represents strength against impossible odds and the drive to always do what's right, struggle like this really does something to your heart.
I remember when I beat this, I did EVERYTHING. The game was 100% complete except for this last part, and all I could do was say "but... I did everything, surely there is a way to save her." That was when I realized it was the perfect Spider-Man story.

@@peepeebandit you’re referring to Superior Spider-Man. It was a phenomenal comic run, it had Otto transfer his mind into Spider-Mans. Peter was there subconsciously but Otto tried to delete him from his mind. Otto eventually learned with great power comes great responsibility BUT he did it in his own way. Kinda brutal and fucked up in some cases but he was definitely a fun Spider-Man to read!
@@peepeebandit since Peter was dying his life flashed before his eyes and since they had swapped minds it happened to otto too. He live through Peter's life but experienced it as if HE lived it. So he learned why peter does it and how much of a hero and sacrifice he was to do it. So he swore to honor peter and become a superior spiderman
I think this was the saddest and most meaningful death in any spider man story. He can still save her life but has to make the choice not to. I don't think I could be strong enough or have a morality enough to make this choice in this situation ever. This righteousness for whatever the cost is the essence of this character and I love how well they capture it here.
The most canon death too as if he saved his aunt instead, then, the universe may had fallen apart.
And Aunt May herself would hate it, knowing he chose her instead of everyone else.
As Spock would say:
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
It's a tough decision, but it's one that cannot be avoided.
Hands down the best iteration of Spider-Man in the past few years. This ending symbolizes everything Spider-Man is as a character

Normally, I don't mind cosmetic changes like this, but I like how Peter looked when this game first came out. It felt like it was something new while still looking like what you'd imagine a young adult Peter Parker would look like.
But then, for some reason, they turned him into Tom "Miles Teller" Holland.

4:05 Otto's speech is both absolutely right and wrong at the same time. Peter uses his talents and powers as Spider-Man not because the people are beneath him, but because he walks among them, they in turn, with him.

well, as person that always beside peter, take care of peter since he was a kid , it wouldnt be hard for her to figure out that her nephew is spider-man.... and also otto accidentally saw peter repairing his suit, but he prentended he saw peter as spider-man "side kick" kind of, i'm pretty sure he knew from that moment

They definitely got it right for how hard it tends to hit to lose close friends and family. When it hits, it slams into you like a ton of bricks.
The thing that hits hard is Otto is almost right with responsibility. Almost close to with great power comes great responsibility, only exception is Otto finds himself with his power above the normal lessers. Viewing himself the responsibility to decide for them. When that's never been it, he was right though Peter has great power as Spiderman but he always does the right thing the responsible thing whether the public loves him or not. Otto also defines the only way to make change is if you have powers, Otto would look at the name Spiderman and focus on the power of the spider. Whereas Peter sees the man half, the will and strength to help and offer what you can to make change.

I beat the original Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4. And today I just beat Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PS5. And man, Aunt May’s death made cry like a baby. Like wow, it hurts so much. Aunt May’s death is one of the most emotional death scenes in gaming history! Gone, but never forgotten! 😭💔
