Welcome to one of the finest and most well known games for the NES, its Wizards & Warriors! Being just the second game from the legendary developers at Rare, and thus the second soundtrack from the legendary David Wise. The brilliance of Wise's compositions were already shining through on this title, and is among one of his most well known NES soundtracks, the "Title Theme" alone is just a magnificent piece of music that captures the mood of the adventure you're about to set off on. But the rest of the soundtrack offers wonderful and memorable tunes such as "Forest of Elrond", the "Ice & Fire Caves", "Outside Castle / Rescued Damsel" and my favorite, the "Low on Energy" theme. Also thanks to the programming skills of Chris Stamper he would be responsible for the first version of the "Rare Sound Driver", and would just be the beginning of what kind of music Wise could make on the NES. Wizards & Warriors itself is praised as one of the most classic games on the NES, thanks to a uniquely colorful world, fun design, and most importantly, a fair difficultly due to the choice of unlimited continues, which certainly has helped the appeal of people playing and finishing this game. It does everything right being a fun game to play, great to listen to, and providing a nice legacy of W&W games from this prestigious developer, give it a go if you haven't! Thank you fine folks as always for listening and enjoying these Revamps, I will do my best providing more consistent uploads as I have been lately, and if you'd like you can show support on Patreon to get thanks in the description at Tier 1 or on the videos at Tiers 2 & 3, thank you! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku / ko-fi.com/nikotengoku
This game kicked my butt when i was a kid. It was always progress by an inch with miles to go. When i finally beat this game, it felt gratifying. I never bothered to try the sequels because frankly this one was frustrating enough for one lifetime.
@@AnimusInvidious It's a shame as the next two entries have some of my favorite music David Wise did on the NES console, but the gameplay and experience of those are so brutal, I'm glad his work here is still great, but this one is certainly the more enjoyable game to play.
W&W is a game I only found the past few years, and the music was the first thing that hit my senses and told me I was gonna enjoy it. Praise be to Niko! ❤😁
This series should be four times the size that it is. W&W3 explicitly teed up a cyberpunk W&W4, which could've started a time travel trilogy on the SNES, followed by a steampunk W&W5 and a stonepunk W&W6 before returning to Kuros and Malkil's present, then W&W7 would've brought the series into 3D, let's say a shrinking adventure for W&W8 and close out the console titles with W&W9, ending with a message that reads, "To be continued in Wizards & Warriors X: The Fortress Of Fear". On the handheld side of things, W&W11 could've come out on the Game Boy between 5 & 6 with a Super Game Boy palate and W&W12 could've come out on the Game Boy Color between 8 & 9, marking the canonical end to Kuros and Malkil's feud, with the former coming out on top 12-0.
The unfortunate probability that due to W&W3 not selling as well as the past titles, and Zippo Games (who developed W&W2 & 3) shutting down likely killed the possibility of future titles, and Rare was having better success doing stuff with Battletoads and of course once the SNES came around, we all know how there legacy went from there, still would have been nice to see W&W again.
Definitely rented this several times, and i think we finally beat it eventually. I liked the somewhat nonlinear, exploratory aspect of the levels. Awkward controls and cool aesthetic.

@@Ophidian14 I love a good repetitious theme.

The sequels are terrible so that was a smart plan!

Great game, great music and great memories from the 90's. Good times that will never come back but are still alive in our minds.
9:59 ❤
David Wise at his finest in this lesser known game. I'm surprised this (and it's sequels) didn't get re-released for Rare Replay.
A shame as the games are sitting tired to the NES console, they would have benefited greatly on Rare Replay!
I think licensing prevented this game from being released in Rare Replay. Shame really.

Nice on, it's a good time, thanks David Wise (and all others who worked on the game, lol)! :D
One of David Wise underrated soundtracks!
Ah hell yeah! Love ur channel
I turn it on when I want to read 📚
Really helps
Happy to hear, maybe I should curate a specific playlist for OST's that are nice to read/chill to! ;D

They used to charge $50 for these crappy games. Ripoff. Mind you minimum wage back then was around $4 an hour.
