I know the recommendation by Supervent is 2' on the horizontal run from the tee to the inside. I was thinking of running a 3' and it looks like you may have done the same. I have to clear a 21" overhang. I'm not sure one the 1' difference would make a difference if I use a short black horizontal pipe to the stainless steel adapter. Great video.
What I was really hoping to see what's the pipe installation through the thimble the part you left off. I have a half inch gap between my 6" ( 7" out side) double wall and the 8" hole in the thimble. How do you seal it?
I twisted aluminum foil to support the angle, then used high temp sealer over that, it worked great. Lowe's sells 2 or 3 different kinds, and the 600°F silicone flexes to hold tight seal. Lowe's also sells a 'Crimper Tool' that easily reduces diameter, then seal. Some products valve ratings of 3000°, at Lowe's. Good luck, brother, I know it can be frustrating
Is this drafting ok?? Just bought a wood furnace and they really recommend inside chimney so it drafts better. And its 25 ft tall so that much triple wall would be pricey!
I am looking to do this soon and was wondering how it held up in snow. I live in Maine and the roof faces North and is the last to melt. I dont want to spend and install just to have it crushed with a snow/ice avalanche off the roof once I start boiling sap.
Mine has held up pretty good but I don’t get near the snow you do. I also built a cabin back in the woods with a small wood stove and I designed that bracing slightly different. I think it looks better. Check out my cabin videos to see that one. Good luck.
Radiant system is still here and works great. This wood stove stack installation is for my maple syrup evaporator. I connect everything in the spring and make maple syrup inside my barn. Very efficient and convenient. It’s a wood fired evaporator I built many years ago. I connect a steam evacuator hood also, so there is no steam inside the building. I have videos posted on this if you search my channel. Thanks for the question!
I thought that too but the venting I bought is rated for exactly what I used it for. It calls for a 2” clearance to combustibles and the wall ring I bought had the 2” built into the design.
Put me down for some real home made syrup !!!! Question about your electrical install in the ceiling. When you ran the wire through the metal ceiling did you use a rubber grommet or how did you fish it through without worrying about it rubbing on the sharp metal hole before it went into the metal outlet box. If you did use a grommet please describe where you got it. Thanks
www.homedepot.com/p/1-2-in-Snap-In-Bushing-10-Pack-27251/202077082 I used universal plastic grommets like these to go through the steel. Great question because if you don’t use something similar you will inevitably cut a wire and have a short. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The bottom of the L shape has a clean out so the vertical section is cleaned from there. For the horizontal section, my stove is only used a few weeks a year and removed every year (making maple syrup), therefore I clean the horizontal section from the inside and ash is pushed to the clean out on the L. Hopefully that makes sense. As a side note, the stainless chimney does not build up much or anything to clean.
It’s holding up quite well. I did another stack like this on my off grid cabin and worked the supports a little different. Looks better but same strength and all.
I bought the double wall stainless components that are sold at Menards Home store, I think it’s called Supervent. Went together really nice. Thanks for watching and your sub.
Nice install.
Did a similar install and all stainless too.
Great explanation and instructions on what to do. I liked the drawing that you did for illustration prior to the installation too.
Yeah! That type stack is not cheap at all. That came out nice with a really clean look to it! Job well done! lol

I can’t remember what my horizontal run is but it seems to work well. Good luck on yours and thanks for watching.

thank you for video i am doing my barn next month the sameway
The setup worked really well for me the first season. Good luck with yours and thank you for watching!
Have you had any problems with water intrusion at the top part of the thimble where you siliconed it ?
No, but I will say it’s only a foot or so below the roof overhand so that thimble doesn’t really see water.
did you get rid of the radient heat system you had put in on previous videos? Im confused lol Why this wood stove now!

Nice job! But aren't suppost to use triple wall through the garage, out & up instead of double wall?
I thought that too but the venting I bought is rated for exactly what I used it for. It calls for a 2” clearance to combustibles and the wall ring I bought had the 2” built into the design.

You can use the romex connectors that you put in your panel box as well.
Is there a better side to install or can I use the west side since that fits my work are best?
Hi, I’m not sure I understand the question....are you referring to the location of the chimney exit out of the building?
How do clean the chimney, especially the L shape part outside the building!?

What brand pipe did you use? Links?
Hi Sean....I used Supervent brand bought at Menards here in Michigan.
