- Parisians and tourists were surprised to cross paths with Los Angeles Sheriff Department officers patrolling the streets of the capital with their French colleagues during the Paris Olympic Games. The cooperation was part of Los Angeles' preparations for the Games that will be held in the city in summer 2028.

It must be surreal for a Los Angeles resident to encounter LAPD and LASD officers in Paris when they didn't expect them.
Foreign police officers are not allowed to use their weapons in France except in cases of self-defense. They are not allowed to carry out police checks either. They always patrol with at least two French police officers.
Do they carry their firearms loaded?
@@HorseMeal always assume so, what is the use of a firearm if it can't do its purpose. National Guards always have live ammunition rounds within their reach, same with their Royal Guard counterparts in the U.K.
@@HorseMeal In France, yes.
They should had some Texas LEOs go just so we can see cops with cowboy hats patrolling 😆
Great idea to make police share experience and just mingle with their foreign colegues. Cool to see the uniforms aswell.
J’ai vu les policiers de LA et New-York et beaucoup d’autre c’était top 👍 😂 super initiative et très rassurant pour les touristes bravo c’était génial 🇫🇷👍
must be wierd for US officers to walk that much instead of being in their cars.
Hell yeah!!! 🇺🇸
Vous êtes top ! On a besoin de vous !!!!! Sans vous pas de liberté 🗽❤️
Of the clips of the Paris Olympics, the LASD seet to be the only member of th international police assistance who needed to carry guns. Says a lot how U.S policing operates.
Lets tell the truth, its the civilized world against, well you know who...
I am wondering how they could communicate ?
All younger generation French speaks English
@@___beyondhorizon4664 they can. But they just don't want to
@@CuriouslyWatching I agree with your second answer !
@@___beyondhorizon4664 some of the LAPD officers spoke French too.
French Government allowed American law enforcement to be armed in Paris?
Probably yes, our policeman are armed too 🙂
The French Government allowed police agencies around the world to carry their firearms to France for the Olympics Only, it is an extremely rare occurrence as generally countries dont let other law enforcement carry guns for liability reasons. I wonder what the rules of engagement were and what liability system was in place in case a foreigner officer shot a French person.
@tokyochannel2020 Military has Rules of Engagement and civilian police has Use of Force Policy. These are two very different things. Foreign Police in Paris were probably authroized to use deadly force only for Self Defense from imminent threat of death or great bodily injury only.
@@tokyochannel2020 foreign Police were always paired with French police during the Olympic
@@___beyondhorizon4664 So French police were in Beijing or London?
USA!USA!🇺🇸🤘❤️
LASD was like "great we can beat up citizens there and not get sued like back home!"
That's how bad the policing is in LA 😂 Need to get pointers from Parisian cops.
There were also Qatar, UK, German, Italian police to help out
the sheriff then shot the eiffel tower
GET ME OUT OF HERE TELL THE EAST COAST TO HELP YOU OUT WITH GETTING ME OUT BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT 🎉TO BE 2 GUY INSTEAD OF THE 1 GUY
Plutôt un Greco - Américain.
🤣
California is in serious debt...but, heck, shouldn't let that deter LA from spending billions it doesn't have on the games.
Man you people love spreading fake news. It’s crazy you fall for disinformation so easily, must not have paid attention in school. LA28 is being funded COMPLETELY 100% by private donors. They have also saved $50 million as a backup fund. The state California is contributing $0.00 to the Olympics.
Same in France... awaiting higher taxes here now, and again a new law about to put furhter the age of retirement (may be you Yanks live to work, but us French work to live).
There are more homeless people on the streets on LA.
So what? Every country has homeless people. What does this have to do with the Olympics?
Paris has its own homeless population, if you follow the news.
@@SN-uv4mh Unfortunately yes. All the major urban centers attract disadvantaged populations and, of course, Paris does not escape it.
Bonjour de France 🟦⬜🟥
@@StephFlinger Yes, every big city, capital city, major city, my country has many homeless people.
The only way to permanently fix it, it seems is to follow the Finland and Mississippi approach which is to just give the homeless a home or apartment for free. Homeless people will not stay in a shelter not made for just them
😂😂
Great job!! Los Angeles is so safe and crime free, LA Sheriffs had NOTHING better to do than LEAVE the country to go over to a FOREIGN country to protect the FOREIGNERS. As if sending jobs overseas wasn't enough, now, they send our police officers to protect some other country.
You don't know what you're talking about. LA officers were not in Paris, to perform any security duties. LA officers have no jurisdiction in Paris, to even do that. They were tagging along with French police, as part of a cooperative effort allowing LA officers to see first hand how securing a massive event like the Olympic Games works. That's important when millions of spectators are expected to visit LA, for the 2028 games.
OK. thanks for your expertise mr wierdo
Checked realtime : all the haters in the world have the same level of stupidity. That's the new pandemic, but without any possibility of vaccination.... LOL
I am parisian. A lot of americans in the stadiums to support american teams.
First of all, LA is hosting the next Olympics. It is vital that the Deputy Sherrif supervisors go over there and see how it's done, so that they can bring that knowledge back home with them. Learn what to do, and what not to do.
Secondly, all police departments (probably globally), budget sending their officers away for training/joint operations. They've lost nothing they haven't already planned well in advance for.
Thirdly, as others have said - plenty of American athletes and American fans at the Olympics in person. Should we just let your fellow Americans blow up to terrorists because "waah they send 2 k9 dogs over waah"?
Fourth - Most Americans do not speak French. American cops being there in an advisory position can help you if you get arrested by French police. Whilst US rights don't apply anywhere but the US, if you were arrested in France would you not want someone there to help you bridge the language barrier and help advise you of rights, protections and next steps? Would you not want the familiarity of being 'dealt with' by a familiar American cop over a local one? They don't have any legal ability to arrest you or ticket you themselves, they'd gain literally nothing by being an asshole to you, of course they'd help.
Fifth, French Police will send support over to the LA Olympics, almost undoubtedly. It's a GIVE and take, not just a take. Give a small amount of resources now, get a small amount of resources in future. LA might spend $90k today sending cops over to Paris, but will probably save $150k by receiving French cops in 4 years time, and not having to call in so much of their own overtime etc. (numbers made up as example). It's not like this is a one-way deal where only France ever benefits.
USA is just sour grapes only at the moment; LMAO
Don't blame yourself if you're not good enough and not better than others.
@@SN-uv4mh I was mentioning that about the Bronze Drama; unless you are living under a shell :P
Lmaooooo yet we see every country dressing like our Music trends and Sports 😂
No wonder France went woke.
Not France, only a few ppl in Paris, Paris is no more in France since 30 years at least.
