Thank you!! We nearly broke the bloody thing but my partner told me to look up RUclips. I was able to get it out within seconds after watching your video:)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just installed an undercounter drinking system and I cut on plastic tubing too short, I tried to get the end out to no avail. Found your video and it was a snap, took short one out and replaced it with a longer one. Thanks again.
That's great to hear thank you Robert. We're always here to help with any technical questions and if you ever have a need for a water filter in the future.
I'm outside pushing.... pulling... pliers... zero. Told myself "Just youtube it". "No. It'll take too long... maybe three minutes... I'm going to HD anyhow... I'll just grab a new filter." "Just get off your lazy ass and youtube it". Went back outside after 45 seconds into your video. BOOM! 4 seconds. Thank you!
Hi Rob thanks for your message. The fittings have a locking collet that grips the tubing. These are very secure fittings but when tubing is reinserted always checks for leaks and give the tubing a tug back and it shouldn't release. if you get a leak when reinserted it might be that one end of tubing has become worn over many years. You can snip the end of the tube so a fresh section gets inserted
I see a major flaw / omission in your procedure (which I learned the hard way). After re-attaching the tube, the collett must be pulled OUT (away from the fitting body) and the hose then pulled on to seal / lock it properly and prevent the tube from possibly coming off under pressure. You show using a knife to push the collett IN after re-attaching the tubing. Bad news. The collett should be pushed AWAY from the fitting after re-attaching the tube. I also used a dull knife for this step by inserting it in the gap between the visible edge of the collett, and the fitting, and twisting the knife to make that gap as large as possible and help lock / seal it all together .
Thanks for your comment Frank, this is the first time anyone has recommended attaching the tube this way. We find most people are happy with the procedure we recommend.
@@ukwaterfilters3269 It seems most of the time you can get away with not pulling out on the collett. Water pressure "may" seal it anyway. But not in my case... I had leaks. Logically it should be pulled out to secure it as it was before you removed the tubing. Anyway your procedure was good to help me understand how to REMOVE the tubing . I saw another video where the guy after reattaching tube actually puts a little plastic clip between the collett and the fitting to make sure it is secure.

Now it leaks
These push fit tubes are crap.....leaking even after you push them home. The collets split after a short while...they are not fit for purpose.
