so i just installed the system i ordered years ago (but couldn't install previously due to discovered house construction issues), and the remineralizer leaks where the cap screws onto it. i have tried to fix it three separate times by taking it off, unscrewing it and adding ptfe tape over the plastic threads. but it still has a slow drip, about one drop per minute. i guess i just need a new one, but i decided i'd leave it on with a bucket underneath to just test the system and my install. who knows maybe it might seal up itself? But its very deflating when you take the time to DIY and think you've got everything right and then a component you haven't touched turns out faulty straight out of the box... :(

Thx, I was trying all sorts of things to pull it out. What I can't understand is why it doesn't leak since it's such a loose fitting connection.
Hi Rob thanks for your message. The fittings have a locking collet that grips the tubing. These are very secure fittings but when tubing is reinserted always checks for leaks and give the tubing a tug back and it shouldn't release. if you get a leak when reinserted it might be that one end of tubing has become worn over many years. You can snip the end of the tube so a fresh section gets inserted

Hi Sebastian It shouldn't really make any noise... it might have air bubbles in the system - which might be causing "water hammer" (This can sound like a high vibration - ie not just a banging sound..) . If this was happening on a normal tap you would have to turn it off and on again at various speeds to clear the air blockage. Do this on your RO. But if the noise continues, drain the system and refill it - check the instructions on the (simple) steps you need to take. Hope that helps you.

Hi Thanks for your question. Water testing is complicated ... it very much depends on the incoming water - and this can vary a lot. So it won't tell you much (and it's expensive!) Hi thank you for commenting. Once the water supply to the system is switched off if you open the separate drinking water tap this helps to release some pressure and makes it easier to unscrew. Another tip once opened / before closing; add a dab of Vaseline to the screw thread to make it easier to undo next time. We also supply a tool to help with this or you can use a car oil changing type spanner...
