It's been 2k miles since this episode. Still off. I think it has to do with the reason why the cats aren't working. If the elements are exhausted vs plugged up... I'm not really sure. It's luckily gone.
Ma'am , why are you letting him I pronounce catalytic converter wrong? 🤣🤣 Love watching this! I have a 99 4cyl TJ and I did a similar upgrade. New top, bumpers, upholstery etc.... Great videos!!!
@@Jim_woodsthank you and yeah honestly should use the weight oil what is recommended the 10w-30 conventional oil and like a Wix brand filter, fram filters are no good. I have been in the oil/mechanic industry for 30 years and seen alot and learned alot , not trolling or trying to be a jerk to them , just trying to offer my opinion from my experience.
Appreciate it! We love wix filters too. Mostly just use OEM if you've seen some of our other videos but the inoy available filter locally was the Fram line. Everything else sold out.
3.19 in South Western part of New Hampshire. I had an 03 TJ Sport with the 4.0 and 30" factory tire package back then I got 250 miles on a tank with regular and 300 with mid grade. More highway miles but it was consistent for years. You guys should do great.
@@Garagecouple hopefully it continues! Stick shift and watching your RPMs you can thar sweet spot, that's what worked for me. Same with my JK 2dr. Stick shift, 35x10.5, 2" lift, full steel skids, steel bumpers and winch 20 mpg highway. Granted that's got the super highway gears still lop. 17.5-18 city. Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
Our gas prices are already 5.39 a gallon. Here in Eureka, California, this summer is going to be madness I bet. I’m just glad I am bought a motorcycle last year to commute on good weather days that only takes me 3 1/2 gallons a week to go to work.
Fram has different levels of filters.. this is one of their best which others have torn apart and showed that its pretty decent actually. We also change oil every 5k miles and have put 300k+ miles on 4.0 engines this way (we've had a lot of 4.0s)
Hallo! About the oil, you're not describing quite right. Warmer or not it doesn't matter because the first number is cold temperature. You could almost think of the W as winter. So on cold starts (not literally winter but rather first starts), it'll act as a 5W weight oil vs the called for 10W. In theory, because it's thinner, you should have an easier time starting in the "cold". At temperature, it acts as a 30 weight oil all the same. And I would not recommend going with a thinner oil in warmer temps. You want a thicker oil so that it'll counter the thinning as ambient/oil temperate rises. Too thin and you'll loose the protective film it's suppose to have traveling around the engine. I would also suggest that unless you're constantly over 110F ambient or more precisely the oil is is around the 250+, I would stick with the suggested oil grades.
I highly recommend replacing the differential fluid next. You'll be amazed at how much smother the jeep will feel. Gas here in kc, mo is around $3.00/gallon
As someone that has used Dura lube way back when it came out in the early mid 90's that stuff works and works good and back then I was driving a 92 ford ranger and yeah I was driving it a lot doing pizza deliveries but I was going through about a quart or so of oil a week and I thought what the heck what can I lose so I tried it and oh man it made a world of difference I stopped burning oil and I was getting a little better mpgs too. I also think that engine ran a little cooler also anyways Dura Lube works I haven't used it for years but when I did it worked great. I used to oil treatment and I may have used the fuel treatment but I can't remember but the oil treatment I know I for sure used.
Noticed that this jeep doesn't have a SKIM key - I didn't know TJ's existed without that! Fuel here is.. $1.29 a liter - or about $5.20 a gallon, I think? That jeep must run so much better now!
It's funny, this jeep is bare bones. It doesn't have tons of stuff we thought were standard.. like footwell lights...or a center armrest.. or air-conditioning lol
@@Garagecouple It doesn't have a center armrest either?! Is that factory? Mine doesn't have AC either - but I'm in Canada, so it's not really a common thing (or in 2002, anyways!)
Sea Foam? That stuff is yuk! Pick up some CRO 505 (put in when changing oil it will clean your internal engine) and CRS 505 (fuel cleaner) from ATS Chemicals these products kick a$$! As for intake cleaning use CRC Intake cleaner!

In warmer climates you want to run thicker oil in colder climates you run thinner oil😊
Good point!
Well at least some one said it thanks Jerry

3.17 here in south east ohio
Oh wow thats not too shabb6
You’re supposed to put the additive in before filling it with gas. It helps mix and washes it off the filler tube.
I would bet it makes 0 difference. It all ends up in one tank and the few ml that attach to the filler tube are likely irrelevant
@@Garagecouple - I didn’t say anything bad would happen only how it is supposed to be done and why.
Understood, although I don't personally believe there is a difference. Makes sense for it to go in first :)
@@Garagecouple - I agree, good luck with the jeep.

Hello from Spokane WA!
Hello there!
It is a good idea to have the coils and cables changed as well , specially with all those miles 😀
Totally! Issue is sometimes the replacements aren't made as well as oem and they fail quickly. Oem is out of stock
There is only one coin pack. The wires run to the coil pack mounted on engine
@Bigshow101171 wow and you figure out that by yourself?
Love the content!! Great seeing a couple working together like this.
Thank you for your support!

Lol
While you had the air intake off, you should manually clean the throttle body with throttle body spray and a nylon brush.
We did! Didn't catch it on cam :)

1 liter of diesel is now 1.60 euros and the jeep needs 12 liters per 100 km. Jeep always costs money :-) Greeting from the Netherlands Rene

an easy way to clean your engine bay is to use a 2' BRUSH with kerosene/ and clean the bay then rinse with soap or degreaser and water
Awesome idea
That engine takes 5qtr of oil
Not according to the manufacturer
Regular gas is $3.05 in central New Jersey. Enjoyed the vids!
Oh wow thats crazy!
I hope states like California think about those gas prices before they vote Dem again. But they won't....
