In Japan there are 9,647,000 people with disability( 2022 statistics by Cabinet office)
About 10% of population in Japan suffer disability.
I believe this ratio is as same as any other countries.
As there will be a high percentage of elderly people and pediatric medical will develop much much more, it will be sure the number of the people with disability will increase.
I think disability is not somebody else's business any more.
Someday you and the member of your family will be disable until death.
I believe that letting the people with disability join the society and achieve inclusive society is not only for the people with disability but also for the people who don’t suffer disability right now.
Mirai Hoshino was born with disease and disability which no doctor can name.
By modern medical, he is diagnosed with nothing unusual.
But you can see….
Deformity in skull and face.
Eyelids are all lost.(He can’t blink）
Microtiaーsmall ears and positioned in the wrong place.
The bone of forehead is lost(Under skin, there is brain-His brain is not protected by born)
Eye bone is lost.
Cheek bone is lost.
Also he is a child with medical care-Gastrostomy, Ventilator,Tracheostomy-
Parents take a parental leave to raise him.
I think the word of 'Two as one' is for them.
Mirai has no upper eyelids ,
so he needs to use eye drops regularly.
He has no forehead.
So he needs an original helmet to protect his brain.
Even from right now (He is just 1 year old) he practices to put on helmet every day.
But the parents are extremely confident.
They say
'I don’t want to give up happiness .'
'I want to pursue the happiness with Mirai and my husband.'

When the father said that they have to be careful because of injuries on the head I remembered how often my child fell and hurt his head. That must be terrifying.

I don't know what country you are in but in America there are a group of doctors the specialize in head and neck problems. Now I have seen a lot of the different surgeries they do but your baby is unique if they could help that would be wonderful but again your situation is a 1-in-1000000 but all you can do is ask. The clinic is called Osborne HEAD and Neck Clinic in Los Angeles California. You could look at procedures they have done on RUclips under their name. You can give it a try all that can happen is they say yes or no. I am praying for the three of you.🙏❤

The medical field has come so far in the last 30 years. It would look like the plastic surgeons would be able to build him a skull. He is the cute baby that I have seen.

I am happy to see that their country allows both parents to stay home and take care of their disabled child. I just saw a very sad documentary where the parents had to divorce and move apart because American healthcare system didn't allow to collect over a certain amount of money. It was very sad.

My big sister is disabled, and I remember getting so angry when I was little because people would stare and point sometimes, but as I got older, I realized that those people were few and far between and that most people are kind to her. She taught me to be patient and to have empathy and that love is not based on appearances. She has a purpose in her life, just as your precious baby has. My sister is my hero, and I think I know who yours is. ❤❤❤

I think Mirai-kun was born to the right parents. I especially love the dad's admiration of superheroes, and how he applies their determination to his child. I'm also relieved that the mother has access to a supportive disability community in Japan, since I've heard that people with disabilities remain less integrated into Japanese society than their American counterparts. I wish Mirai-kun and his family a lifetime of happiness.

It seems something happened during the development of facial bones etc. Who really knows. The child seems only to have physical symptoms and not intellectual deficits. He is fortunate to have been born to such wonderful parents in a wonderful country. I wish them all good fortune.

In our shallow society ,looks are everything unfortunately. This baby is doomed to be bullied, I have a brain damaged son, I also have a son who had a facial deformity between thirteen and fourteen years of age, they both have been mocked and stared at by children and adults. There is absolutely nothing cute about disabled people in the eyes of society. ❤

A shame for the child to have to deal with this, but a blessing to have parents who truly care and do everything they can to protect him and give him the best life they can. We can all speculate what will happen and have hopes, but given the nature of the condition, I do believe that the parents' diligence and care will give him the life of love he deserves. I wish the family the best.
This little boy is so blessed to have amazing parents. I've worked my whole life with people with developmental disabilities and so many have no family interaction at all. It's sad! The families just give them up. Because of these parents he is living his best life possible! God bless them all! ♥

In the advanced medical community today; is it possible to create an artificial skull to connect with the part of skull that he was born with?? If so, I HOPE that some Doctor will Volunteer to do this for him. He is a precious soul and obviously Loved very much by his Family : )
Possibly, but you'd have to do it after he finishes growing as it wouldn't grow with him like bones would, so if they did that now, within a few months he'd have building cranial pressure
@@NiaJustNiayeah. The sad part is he is going to blind. If he has no skull then he has no teeth. So he is on a soft food diet forever.
@@jaydee1389 So far he isn't blind. They've put a lot of effort into preserving his vision. On his RUclips channel, he's 18 months old now and was recently checked by the ophthalmologist. The biggest struggle will be his hearing because he does have some structures, but is missing others, and as most hearing aids either amplify sound for existing hearing or vibrate the inner ear bones, it's not clear what the future holds for Mirai's hearing

Is this a type of Trecher-Collin’s syndrome? Any medical professionals out there care to weigh in? See the case of Julianna Wetmore. Her case was severe and, as far as I know, she had several dozen surgical procedures that brought her eyes closer together and also protected them from injury. Also I think she also received hearing aids and upper palette reconstruction.
Just spit balling. This little guy is very blessed to have two such lovely parents.
This baby has a condition known as ", holoproencehaly" The brain for some reason does not cleve into 2 hemispheres. I commented above & i saw JW story too. I don t know if this is a form of TCS. There are other posting on RUclips of babies in the same circumstances.

I am concerned with future development. How will the brain grow and be supported? What about facial structure as his eyes clearly sunk in?

The parents are wonderful. We live in a world where people are born as expected and "normal" in every sense of the word and they still don't feel quite right. They feel as if they belong in the body they were born in and society for the most part has learned to adapt with acceptance and love unconditionally. Learning to love yourself isn't something you are born with. It is a learned behavior. So as long as these parents keep up being such loving and accepting people nothing else will matter.

This baby is a holoproencehaly baby! There are variants of this condition some with fewer symptoms some with more. Why the mom said he has no disease or syndrome surprises me as I would think MD in japan must be aware. Anyway the condition happens because the brain has not drvided in to the 2 hemispheres we all recognize in depictions of the brain. BTW look up the term *holoproencehaly babies* and RUclips will show you pictures and explain better than I can

Sadly it can be either situation the eyes can be too close or too far apart in fact the close together situation can become so unfortunate that the baby is rendered a cyclops as the 2 eyes fuse together in one bony orbit. These tend to have no nose just that extra tissue they refer to as a proboscis strangely located above the single eye@@chelsb6568

My first born was born with multiple issues. His condition also did not have a name. Among his many issues, his most visible one was that his skull did not grow but his brain did. This caused a misshapen enlarged head with a tiny face.
Now what I came to say. Philip lived for 8mths. My entry into motherhood was far from‘normal’ but I loved that boy with every single fibre of my body -so did his daddy! If love could have saved him, we would have! To us he was gorgeous and precious and the love of our lives. My heart shattered when he finally passed away, I thought I’d never survive this experience! But we did and went on to have 2 miracle girls.
I wonder if in the years to come if it will be possible to 3d print acrylic to supplement what fragments of his skull were able to develop.

I love these parents. They are strong yet do admit to the tough times. They seem honest. There are a lot of families that show zero emotions and are as cold as ice. It warns my heart to see things changing. Hugs to your family..you are a beautiful family.

It's such a blessing he was born to this loving and devoted couple. Both of them, I don't want to use the word extraordinary, because the majority of parents are superheroes, but each of them appears to have brought into their marriage and family life exactly what their little son is going to need to do his absolute best in this world. It is easy to see how much they love one another and I have no doubt at all that this baby will do amazing things in life. Hey Mom and Dad, I wanted to tell you both just how deeply moved I was watching and listening to this beautiful interaction between all of you. God gave him the perfect family.
Other than having a slightly different physical appearance this is a perfectly normal and adorable child. What i am concerned about is when he grows up how will the society treat him? Little children can be brutally blunt about any physical imperfections and even though this child may otherwise be normal he would have to be homeschooled or in school for special children. And how will he mentally develop as an adult when he starts his professional life. I pray that this child may have a normal happy life
