    Yeah, that fan is beneficial to your turbos, it’s cooling down the hot oil that goes through it so it does not breakdown your seals prematurely.

    I think the loud cooling fans are a BMW calling card... I drive a 5 series hybrid, with the 4 cylinder, and there are times when my wife will say "Sounds like your car is preparing for take off again." Even after a relatively short drive.

    I have been a BMW customer for years, I have been driving a BMW X6 M for three generations and I ordered the fourth. Brake noise is on all cars, when the outside temperature is cold. The space between the wheels is normal for an SUV, I had my penultimate x6 with a lowered set-up, nice to look at but uncomfortable if you exceeded a certain weight on the rear axle. The noise of the cooling fan seems more than normal to me, to cool a high performance engine you need a good flow of air. High-performance cars are cars that still have flaws, but which are compensated for with the great emotions and joy of owning and driving certain special vehicles. You can't buy a Ferrari and then complain about excessive fuel consumption😁🤷‍♂️

    I had a 2021 BMW X5MC and changed it to a 2024 BMW X5 M60i. I added every available option and package you can get with the car. Overall, I love the M60i better than my X5MC. It was cheaper, the ride quality is much better, it has the S68 engine and I am very happy with it. In fact, I love the Integral Active Steering, which I couldn't get with the X5MC.

      Nice! Glad you're enjoying it. From my '23 to the '24 X5M the ride quality is noticeably improved, but for ride comfort I'm sure still no where near the M60i

    Just got a 2024 X5M - there's a Start/Stop button that should disable that at comfort mode. Configuring M1 to comfort might also do the trick if you disable it in the settings. Have the same thing on 2023 M440i - it doesn't have start/stop disable button, but if you set Sport Individual to all comfort for regular driving - start/stop disengages 👌

    • @MatthewBrownVlog
      @MatthewBrownVlog  11 месяцев назад

      got you yea there is a button to disable it, I was just hoping I could have it disabled by default when I switch to comfort instead of having to press it every time. but small issue

    Please define the audio volume levels 🙏 it's pretty annoying that your voice volume is competing with the outside noise. So having to turn up my volume to hear you then you transition to a full blown loud transition soundtrack like the one in 7:56 is pretty unpleasant 😬

    FYI, the snow tire swap out has to do with temps also, if it’s consistently close to freezing your summer tires may crack, if you running all seasons then you should be fine.

    Wheel gap can be fixed with some 325 - 35/22's in rear; 285 - 40/22's in front. World of difference on my X5.

    The brake dust and the wheel gap were my two biggest gripes with my 21 X5M. Especially when the brakes started squeaking, it was embarrassing but I still think it was a great vehicle. You just had to wash the vehicle every week or more to calm the noise.

    • @MatthewBrownVlog

    Are you able to drive the X5 thru the smaller garage door or is it kinda tight?

      It fits ok if I fold the mirrors in. It's a little tight, but it does work

      @@MatthewBrownVlog thanks for the reply. I got the standard 8ft door and the M40 goes through mirrors out with some inches to spare, so was wondering about the X5 being wider.

    I’m curious if you have compared ride quality of your X5M Competition to the X5M 60i. I know they they say the 60i is a better luxury ride but it would be interesting to know how much better. I really want to get the competition model as I’d want to occasionally go to the track but I also love our family road-trips and don’t want to regret driving a jarring feel every bump type vehicle either.

    • @MatthewBrownVlog
      @MatthewBrownVlog  6 месяцев назад +1

      The M60i is a lot more floaty, which I wasn't a fan of. Definitely more comfortable but driving you feel way less connected to the road. The ride is stiff in the X5M Comp but (I'm guessing because of the taller ride height) you don't feel every bump in the road like I do in my M3/M4.

    • @augustusoakes4671

      I agree- the full M is completely different- so planted. And the handling is ridiculously amazing. On paper the m60i and full m seem close, but they are totally different animals.

    Also in Kansas City and have a 20' X5 M50i. You mentioned you don't always switch out to winter wheels/tires. My main complaint is the lack of a all season tire option so I can avoid having a 2nd set of wheels and tires for the winter. Any issues driving on your softer compound tires in the winter?

    • @MatthewBrownVlog
      @MatthewBrownVlog  Год назад +1

      Nice! I was able to get around yesterday in the snow ok on the softer tires, I just go slower and leave myself plenty of room to stop. Not ideal but it works. One issue I have noticed is when you're pulling out of the driveway in colder temps and the tires aren't warmed up they'll make this popping noise. It sounds terrible but I've been assured by the bmw techs that is normal. I'm usually more concerned about doing damage to the snow tires because if it's much above 40 degrees you can wear those prematurely

    How do you like the X5M compared to the X3M ? I was debating between the two and I chose the X3M. X3M is just more fun. X5M is just too big.

    • @MatthewBrownVlog
      @MatthewBrownVlog  Год назад +2

      I agree with that. Even if it is bigger it is still fun but if it was my own daily I'd choose the X3M just because it's a little more fun to drive. But for a family vehicle just works better

    You recommend buying or leasing

    • @MatthewBrownVlog
      @MatthewBrownVlog  10 месяцев назад

      Typically leasing is a better deal if you switch cars often, buying is better if you want to keep something long term. Also depends on the market, with the declining values on used cars now I'd imagine leasing would be a better option.

    On my 22 X4MC I’m pretty sure the auto start/stop is one of the settings for M1 / M2 modes. I have it disabled in both of them, and my car always starts up in M1 I think. Are you saying the auto start/stop mode can’t be programmed into the M1/M2 presets anymore? Also saw your comment about the X3M being more fun to drive and now I’m having second thoughts about upgrading to the X6M. No family here, just wanted something a little roomier and more luxurious. Also considering the X6 M60i for the air suspension and ~32K lower price, but I love my M seats and don’t know if I want to give them up. How is the massage function? I played with it just for a moment during a test drive and it wasn’t very noticeable, but might not have had it in the right mode.

    • @MatthewBrownVlog
      @MatthewBrownVlog  Год назад

      So yea in M1/M2 it's disabled, I was saying when I turn it off the M mode in the default mode it comes back on. And I did a software update on my M4 and it's doing the same now but I swore it wasn't previosly. The X5M is definitely a big step up in room and luxury so overall it's a better car. If I'm just going on fun factor though the x3/4m feels a little more like a car just because it is smaller. M60 is great too, same engine basically and will have a much more comfortable ride than the M. But yea like you say I would hate to give up the M seats and all the other M goodies that come with the M

    Ceramic coat those wheels, helps a lot not 100% - but definitely cuts down about 80% of it and cleans better. Yeah wheel gap is atrocious, but is not bad when or if you need to tow something - boats , mountain bikes, trailer, etc. and put weight on back end. Editing tip - Bring the music down slightly and bring your talking audio up a little. Thanks for the content.

    • @MatthewBrownVlog

      Appreciate the tip, will keep that in mind for the next one. But yea that does make sense if you use for towing. Thanks for watching!
