  • Really nice sonatinas, I'm quite enjoyed on listening it!
    Some says that it's too Mozart-eque, but still it's light-hearted and cool~
Dussek's works have been often forgotten until this century, where we starts to notice and appreciate his works.
I really adore this set of sonatinas~
Recommendation: It is suitable to be listened during working wwww
    Hope you enjoy~

I did not know these sonatinas from Dussek. Thank you so much for sharing. The musicality is masterful.

Dussek was an amazing composer! Like Beethoven, he preceded and influenced many great composers on the following Romantic period, like Chopin and Schumann. It's really sad to know that many amazing composers who are the musical giants back in the days like Salieri or Dittersdorf getting covered up by the more commonly seen composers nowadays like Mozart and Beethoven. Thanks for posting this set of masterpieces. They really need more recognition.

Dussek was highly admired by Beethoven.

@@canman5060 Yes, I know that. That’s why I said he needs more appreciation…..he was famous at his time ,but nowadays, if you ask anyone if they know who Dussek is , they wouldn’t know, but if you ask them who’s Beethoven, they’ll definitely know. That’s the difference.

@@4j128 True. But now you can find many complete recordings of much lesser known composers.I highly recommend the complete piano concerto by Federnand Ries who is the secretary and friend of Beethoven.Beethoven often joke about him 'copying' his work. There are also many recorde works by Beethoven's contemporary such as Hummel and Czerny who really exercise my ten fingers to the ultimate !

These sonatinas of Dussek are amazing little works, every bit as good as Clementi's Op. 36 (although I still prefer Op. 36 because I grew up hearing them played by my older brother), and harmonically more ambitious than those of his Italian friend. It's just a shame that Dussek doesn't give us the usual three movements in Op. 20 - he was really a great lyricist, especially in his later slow movements (Opp. 44, 45, 70, 77, etc.).
Another great set of six sonatinas - very much in the vein of Clementi - was written by the Spanish composer Nicolás Ledesma. I have a recording of one of his "Gran Sonatas" on my channel.
