I can’t believe I found a non-cliched deeply textual explanation of Nietzsche’s philosophy. Though there is a lot of nuance of Nietzsche’s aphorism that I think this kind of analysis isn’t particularly suited to explicate, I understand there is only so much you can do on a 11 minute RUclips video. Keep up the good work. I genuinely hope your channel blows up.
Even after a re-read I didn't get the full essence of his thoughts, but this video was perfect is summing up the entire chapter. This is a gold mine, I'll come here after every Chapter 🙏😇
4:59 THANK YOU. It took me too long to find a video that addressed whether or not the title was in relation to non-duality. "There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so". William Shakespeare.
Thank you for this dude. I am currently reading this book as a recommendation from Dr. Jordan Peterson however english is not my primary language add the fact that the book is based on old english making it hard for me to understand. Your video helps me appreciate this. I hope you finish this whole book. Cheers mate! 😄
Even if English was your primary was English because the original texts were in German, and these people appreciate wordiness, hence there are so many commas and full stops and a lot of Latin
Thank you very much, sir, for your explanation of Nietzsche's beyond good and evil first part. It is well put together. I am trying to learn philosophy on my own and your videos are helping me do that. Big thanks.
This was really a great video. I have been searching for videos on "beyond good and evil" and found only this one, so far, to be made in a good way. Well argumented, thought, presented and discussed. Mare more of this, Sir! :D
Doesn’t proactive means controlling a situation by making things happen, wouldn’t that be a reaction to because you don’t want to wait for things to happen?? Just trying to understand the concept please help if I am wrong
IMPORTANT QUESTION: Nietsche claims that philosophers of the past were simply advocates of their prejudices and assumptions, which according to him is a bad thing. But what evidence is there that Nietsche is not trying to do the same in his book 'beyond good and evil' and other of his books? How can one recognise a philosopher who is simply trying to explain his assumptions and prejudices from the one who is not doing so?
Take the example “I run.” The subject “I” is the substance and “run” is the predicate which is attributed to the subject “I”. This way of speaking is atomistic because it assumes that “I” is an indivisible, singular entity. I think this is right but someone correct me if it’s not.
At last someone who is referring to the Walter Kaufmann translation and not the Helen Zimmern translation which is modernized in it's language and has errors in it's translation.
9:49 "But the Will to Power is not all negative" Caught you moralizing and making value judgments. Referring to the will to exert power over others as something negative is a rejection of nature. Come on man. Good video nonetheless.
Nietzsche just can't help but discredit every opinion on every matter he happens upon, some times his arguments are well established and fundamentally valid but mostly he's just contradicting for the sake of it i find. My humble opinion at least.
Regarding the section on Will to Power, about 9 minutes, I find it interesting that Nietzsche disagrees that self-preservation is the primary drive in humans. He states that the desire for a living thing is "above all to vent its strength," and then it goes into factors of the idea of "Will to Power." To me, the list of factors could be seen as upholding self-preservation as primary. Why not? The will to take and exert power over others. Why? Because it is a form of self-preservation. The will to interpret and falsify reality to suit one's aims. Why? Self-preservation. Even the will to try and perfect and transcend the self can be a form of self-preservation. The list can go on, from making friends, to falling in love--all forms of self-preservation at bottom. Will to Power itself seems like just another aspect of self-preservation, and not the other way around.

Thank you very much, sir, for your explanation of Nietzsche's beyond good and evil first part. It is well put together. I am trying to learn philosophy on my own and your videos are helping me do that. Big thanks.

This is incredibly amazing, i feel like those galaxy brain expansion memes.
This was a great explanation. Although the concepts are pretty hard to grasp at first

You can learn to control your thoughts - it does take time and practice.

He became professor at the University of Basel, not Bonn. :)
Thank you
I like this guy
He’s a fckn GENIUS WOW!!!!!
Could you perhaps elaborate more on " The substance-predicate nature of language is atomistic . " I don't understand what it means
.
Take the example “I run.” The subject “I” is the substance and “run” is the predicate which is attributed to the subject “I”. This way of speaking is atomistic because it assumes that “I” is an indivisible, singular entity.

the video is really good...but im trouble with your accent, its difficult to comprehend
Think we are not causa sui because we are literally born into existence without a say in the matter
