Thanks for watching and supporting! I also have a bunch of FREE courses at my site www.MartyMusic.com
Insane ive just picked up my guitar fior the first time in months and this is the song my dad used to play to me as a kid. Deffo gonna be playing this one
like literally uploaded 1h before i decide to play a bit :D
Why are you not fingerpicking this exactly?
Sounds a little like Mississippi half step?
Lets give scrapper blackwell some credit. One of the true blues greats
It has a You’ve Got A Friend In Me vibe
It does! Plus, Sebastian - Rainbows all over your blues!
It's the sad version : "you've got no friends"
Yes! I also get "If I didn't have you" vibes from Monsters Inc.
I hear both you got a friend in me and dream a little dream of me
As someone who has been trying to learn guitar for decades I am blown away by what is now available to me from Marty, including this lesson. Great lessons, great enthusiasm, great production. It really is the gold standard for guitar instruction. Rock on.
whoever's reading this...have an amazing day. Keep your head up.
Same to you..
Thank you
It's funny how these days that could be seen as a political statement
Same back to you✌
Thank you sir
I just love Marty, thank you dude. I was struggling with the finger style version and you've boiled it down beautifully so it can be worked on by us mere mortals.
Mr.Swartz there are no words to describe how invaluable you've been in teaching me(and others im sure) a list of covers that I can play at parties and get the room chanting whilst soaking up all the adorations and compliments ,which really you deserve.thank you so much for all the time you've given to us.well done.
Love this classic tune, especially the version from the unplugged record. Your playing on the Gibson and the tone sounds great.
Wow! That is the best guitar Play i have ever heard. What a wonderful song!!!
I haven't picked up my guitar for months but you just posted one of my all time favorites and now I am driven to learn! Marty, you are an amazing teacher! When the world opens back up again, I've gotta come see you perform! If you are in the mood you could do a whole series on Claptons unplugged!
Marty, thank you so much for all the work you do and for being my teacher. You inspire me, and nearly a year into my guitar learning journey, I am yet to lose any of that inspiration. Keep on rocking and again, thank you.
Thank you so much Marty. I didn't even know that I love this song and tell you put it out and now it's one of my favorites. What a pleasure to learn and play thanks to you.
Mr. Marty.... when you mentioned D Minor harmonic scale with the D Minor chord and the A7 chord you opened my mind to some new musical ideas... thank you... You really rock
Honestly, every time Marty releases a video, the day is taken to a whole new level
Thanks Marty for another fun one. These variations or embellishments are a blast! Your finger picking class for beginners is a real help.
I really connect with the way you teach. Thank you for posting this, I have been wanting to learn this song for a while now!
Thanks Marty! This is a great blues tune with tasty chords and transitions. I'm
real happy you chose to teach it. Hope you're doing well and staying healthy.
I learned this in the key of G recently while I was learning how to use secondary dominant chords. It's a great example of how they can be inserted to make a progression more interesting.
Great tutorial Marty - Relative beginner but I could play this by the end of your video - including the fiddly bits. Keep em coming. Great stuff! Thanks
Thank you so much for this Marty! One of my favourite songs of all time. Never thought I would be able to play this...
One of the best guitar teachers on the planet and nice humble guy 2 go wit it
Marty, you are a great man! Thanks for the lesson. I can finally play my favorite song!🙂
Great lesson… Great Clapton rendition!
Always enjoy your lessons Marty!
Hey, I love your teaching style, went through a lot of videos to find you. Within about 4 months I know more than I have the last 10 years. Thank you. The lessons single handedly ignited my flame of music.
Not sure if there’s a quantity rule on this but was wondering if you could do a lesson on the verve pipes “Freshman” and/or Tyler Childres “Harlan road”. Thanks again for all you do!
I’m 42 now. When I was in the 8th grade I ordered the Eric Clapton Unplugged CD from the Columbia House “6 CDs for a penny” ad on the back of the Parade insert in the Sunday paper. It was the last CD I chose because my dad liked Clapton. I didn’t know who he was really. This was the song that made me want to play guitar. Thanks Marty!
Nice! This is one of the first “many-chord” songs I learned. I’ll revisit and add some embellishments.
You are truly awesome Marty
Hey Marty, thanks for the Nobody Knows When You're Down and Out guitar lesson. Appreciated!!!!
This is one of Clapton's coolest songs. I remember first time I ever saw him play this song was the unplugged concert. he's actually finger picking the entire song. so you could play this song either flat picked or finger picked if you're more advanced. I'd love to see a tutorial for Tequila Sunrise by The Eagles. please do it for us Marty =)
You play this song with such finesse. I would rather watch you play this one Marty. Lots to remember on this well crafted classic. A marriage of standard and the bluest of blues. Thanks for the entertainment. A joy
Another great lesson, my mom loves this song. This is the inspiration I’ve been looking for.
Awesome tutorial as always! Thanks Marty 🙏
Great cover! Congrats, Marty!
I learned Imagine from you😊😊
I would really appreciate it if you did a tutorial on Rapp Snitches Kinishes by MF DOOM (R.I.P) I really would like to learn the intro.
this was an excellent lesson, Marty you are an awesome teacher. thank you.
I love this Marty! I love you!!!
Sweet lesson Marty. I love this!
Marty. You are truely Amazing 🤘
Mahalo Marty....always loved this song, I really like the Derek and Dominoes version. Sweet guitar solo in that...one of the first songs I learned to play
Good choice marty. The younger generation needs to know this classic. I usually fingerpick this song, the old school way. Keep it up with great songs. I loved learning going to california a couple weeks ago!
Great as always, another fine video.
I just discovered your channel and love your lessons. I’ve already learned 3 songs. Thank you!
Beautiful Marty!! Awesome bro! Classic harmony! Almost St Louis Blues? Love it! Thank you. Keep the tunes coming my friend! Bless ya! : - )
Lets go, thanks for another great lesson! Eric Clapton is a king and so are you🔥❤👍
Finally a Clapton lesson! I've been waiting for this for so long
Thanks for teaching this song. You are greatly appreciated.
Beautiful! I'd really love a lesson on how to play Take Me to the River (Al Green / Talking Heads... any version would be much appreciated) Thanks!
So smooth thanks Marty 👍
I love your tutorials
Thank you so much you.
Big Hi from a beginner in England, just learned my first chords cos of you! 👍👍
Many thanks for making this channel, Subscribed 👍🇬🇧
Thanks for the tutorial, I really enjoyed it
YES MARTY!! I've always loved this song. Looks like I know what I'm doing after work lol
Nothing slow hand about this! Thanks Marty!!
💕 from Austria...
Such a nice Ragtime Blues...
so good my friend. Thanks.
Man Marty, i dont know if i ever commented on your videos, but now i have to share my 2 cents. After starting to play guitar with you years ago and learnig my first chords (beeing somewhat intermediate now) i can usually play freely to all intermediate songs, without any further help. I assumed that beeing able to play down & out with all the "toppings" would be a good goal in order to get more precise in my play. I searched for a lesson to teach me exactly that and what do you think happened ? Marty got it covered ! One can easily live a guitar players life together with you, beeing teached something new every time. My appreciation is yours, Thanks Marty !
No matter how many times I play this song with the embellishments I learned here...I thoroughly enjoy it!
Thanks Marty, great lesson! Keep'm coming my man!
YEAHHHHHH THIS song is awesome I know how to play it already but I didn’t know a couple of the extra licks you added from claptons version!!!! Keep up the good work I really bloody enjoyed this one! Would be great to see some more old school blues like Robert Johnson and lighting Hopkins and MORE SLIDDDDDDEEEEEEE plz 😂
( I got that shirt for Fathers Day a couple years back. Now I know there are others! Love your lessons.)
This is a great lesson!
Can you do more lessons on Steve Goodman
Or
Can you do a lesson on all of your favorite go-to licks, just breaking down all the cool licks you like to play. Thank you so much!
Come on guys Marty is still the best 😃cheers Marty from Ireland I’ve been with you from the beginning bro 😎 take care great tutorial!!! Brian
Absolutely a great lesson. Love this tune!
Beautiful!
i thought yesterday that i wanted to learn this song and marty shows up
I thought the same thing today and planned on checking out some RUclips tutorials. Sure enough, Marty had just posted one 5 hours earlier. Lucky day : )
Oh man you tought that one years ago i remember! Thank you for revisiting it i love it!
Hello bro ;) really appreciate that you learning us, THX ;)
Marty, you have no idea how long I been waiting for this lesson!
Dude, that Dm harmonic whatever you did at 2:26 is beautiful! You gotta teach us whatever the heck that was!
👍
You basically got it right. It was just a harmonic minor scale (Aeolian ♯7) which is just a natural minor scale with a major 7.
Please more Eric Clapton! Thank you, love this one! Would love to have a tutorial for "She's Waiting" by Eric Clapton
Perfect video continued the good work Marty.
Love it! Thanks Marty!!
really great Marty please do some more classic blues please!
Hey Marty this is a great tune as always perfect lesson from you! Is there any chance you could do a lesson for Donovan catch the wind? Thanks 🙏
Great lesson as always Marty! Thank You! I've seen an older lesson of yours played on a Martin guitar. Which do you prefer, the Gibson or the Martin and why?...assuming you have any time to address this question 1 year after this post and with your busy schedule! I'd like to ask anyway just in case. Thanks Marty for ALL that you do! Fronz
Exactly the tutorial ive been after, once again Marty delivers
Also would love to see a video on the d harmonic minor scale and other scales that sound as awesome as that
I’m grabbing my acoustic right now , great lesson 👍🏻
