It’s midnight on August 17, 1919, offshore on the Gulf of Finland.
The silence of the sea is broken by the rumble of speedboats racing across the water, their bows bouncing on the calm waves. On their stern, they carry 18 inch torpedoes.
Their mission is simple and daring. Attack a heavily armed Russian port.
They are to use the speedboat’s small size to sail over Russian minefields and attack the Russian Baltic fleet docked at the port of Kronstadt. Small motorboats versus a heavily armed base.
The British are trying to prevent Bolshevik forces from using their fleet against the Estonians who are fighting a desperate war for independence.
It's an incredible story of bravery and daring. A David and Goliath encounter of small motorboats against the might of a Russian stronghold.

Finally the Estonian war of independence is recognized more
"War of independence" ? Which independence? You mean literally a nationalist movement which collaborated with the germans in WW2
😄 bro nobody care about estonia, specialy the english, the problem on that time was the bolseviks, the red plague, the russian civil war.
Who cares about Estonia and other baltic counties that never existed before 1917 revolution, and suddenly decided to become independent capitalist countries instead of being part of RSFSR
@@trevorphilips3724 You call them red plague, because they took away your grandpa´s property based on oppression and exploitation, he was most likely a slave owner

the level of detail in these animations are staggering! the close-up shots of each person's face and the detail on their facial expressions is brilliant too, never failing to outdo yourself with each video, keep up the amazing content, Yarnhub!
Yes, a little-known story of the intervention of England, France, the USA, Canada, Japan, Italy in Soviet Russia, which the Bolsheviks successfully repelled. Thanks for the video, the quality is getting better every time!🐰
Thankfully the Bolshies were stopped on the Vistula a couple years later.
Perhaps the single most consequential and little known event in the lead-up to the War.
1923 and 1933 never would have happened if the Red Army invaded Central and Western Europe.
The US controlled most of easter Russia until the white army lost, then they just left. I wouldn't call that a repelling.

It's like a proto-PT boat raid. Amazing to hear about this kind of thing happening in the era immediately following WW1.
A interesting side note is that destroyers where originally designed to combat torpedoe boats and where called torpedoe boat destroyers to prevent raids like this one
They even used Anti Air guns in WW1 as an Anti Boat application. Worked well against the plywood things.
It’s not a proto PT boat because torpedo boats were invented and used well before WW1. They played a significant role in the Russo-Japanese War.
WHAT A STORY!!! Absolute pure heroics and bravery on a near suicide mission. Yarnhub, your dedication to true history is phenomenal. I so look forward to each and every video!
Well russian force in this years was very very poor.
@@Leantenant If they are weak/poor. They would not have won the Civil War and annexed some territories then
@@danieljani7981 ...
In Civil War they fought against??? Against another russian force.(in general)
Their strenght was in idea and hope on happy future. And support from peoples. But red army was more weaker than white at wealth. And also fought at 4 fronts, idk how they won.
But they dont annexed some territories, they loose a lot of territory(like Poland, west belarus and ukraine, finland and etc).
@@Leantenant The white forces were actually heavily fractured and the wealth was very split.
@@PussNBootos No, it's was their problems, they wasn't work in team and it's one of the most serious their mistakes.
I'm glad to see this channel making videos about this general period and region of Europe. You can find a lot of topics there!
Could you perhaps consider making a video about Merian C. Cooper and other American pilots of the Kościuszko Escadrille, fighting for Poland against the Bolsheviks?
The 303 Squadron, that you've recently covered, was actually continuing the tradition of that unit and bearing their emblem!
I love when they do naval stories! Are you guys planning on doing the Battle of Jutland? Or a snippet of that story of the British armored cruiser that steamed towards the German Fleet after mistaking them for the British fleet?
How realistic is this animation !those sailor's face is so real!good work
It’s amazing how good your videos are. At it again Yarnhub!
I love how these videos are made. Instead of seeing the same photos or videos I have seen a million times. These videos are really awesome. Like watching movie shorts. Thank you for your time I really appreciate them
Awesome mate, mass improvement again! Graphics and physics are just incredible, you've left me speechless!
These animations are Insane! Would love to see a video on the siege of Wake Island where 499 marines of the 1st defense battalion held off an attack of 2.500 men as well as 6 destroyers and 3 light attack cruisers using a aminuscule amount of gear; 4 damaged F4F Wildcats and 127mm costal defense guns
499 marines? I wonder what happened to the 500th

Wow! I had never heard of this engagement! Outstanding video and storytelling! Thank you for creating these videos.
This was the second attack on the port. The first attack was led by Augustus Agar. He managed to hit and sink a heavy cruiser. He won the VC for that.
Что ты несёшь, у России в то время не было тяжёлых крейсеров.
I've only missed like three yarnhub videos and come back to this? wtf? This looks like a legitimate movie production at this point. Insane rate of improvement guys, amazing work.
Such great camera work and animation. I hope in the near future you make a video going into all the stuff you (and your team if you have any) do to make these videos.
I’ve been watching for a long time and it’s been amazing to see your animation improve, from 2d to your first 3d to now. You used to have plain black dots for eyes and mouths and u got better and made better eyes mouths and fluid animation, and now your here with realistic hair eyes mouths water affects and it’s awesome, especially to take this journey with you through your animation. And I’m encouraging you to continue because I love these videos. They're called "destroyers" which is a shortened form of "torpedo boat destroyers"... they were designed specifically to help protect larger but less maneuverable capital ships against devastating torpedo-launching speedboats.
Yarnhub you videos are always the best and I WATCH EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS as soon as they come out, I really love you channel and your stories!

I noticed the better quality of assets and animations in recent epicodes but this one is something else, this was amazing to watch!
wow, the animations are getting better and better. Thats a point to love your videos even more.
If the animation continues like this, we’ll never be able to tell when they switch to live action recreations
I'm so exited about your next Sabaton collaboration. Your videos never disappoint. Keep up!
Thanks for telling this story; one of our least remembered little wars in 20th century history. I have a vague feeling of reading that someone else earned a VC in a similar attack - is that another story you could consider, or is my memory at fault?
Brilliant graphics - these are as good as any live action film.
You're animations are just amazing! Peak graphics and stories. Keep it up!
The graphics on these videos continue to get better. I still remember back when Yarnhub used to make 2D videos. You could see just how far they've come.
I remember one ww1 estonian legend about a estonian boy. He lost his father in war. Other soldiers gave him a gun and made him a soldier too to make him a bit more happy. But it didnt help. Then a battle came and there were enemy machineguns.
Then the boy helped his side soldiers by risking his life and throwing some sand near the machineguns by sneaking. Sadly the boy died because while throwing sand at the machinegun the machine gun shooted him but he was succesful on jamming the machine gun.

This has to be the best Independence of Estonia video ever, another great video yarnhub, and i see the characters are detailed even more!
4:28 Intricate art with beautiful narration.
G'day Yarnhub, I gotta say the animation quality just keeps getting better as the up close facial shots and lim moving is masterful, although knowing the type destroyer used the turret traverse rates were a bit fast on the Pattern 1911 102 mm mounts and the Pom-Pom mounts fired at LMG rates except in the slowed down action.
Yet an overall good animation of a somewhat forgotten raid in an often forgotten part of the russian civil war.
Hmm in your preview earlier this week many guessed the Zeebrugge raid an I was certainly wondering would your team ever cover that glorious raid one day as well? (reading into it was always crazy with the brits using fireships to block the port entry and they stuck flamethrowers to the ships as well like HMS Vindictive 1897).
Nothing more historically satisfying than a Yarnhub video.
When i saw the preview of the video i thought i was seeing a real person your animations have improved a lot
You have improved in animating your videos so much
Y E S A coverage in the Interbellum Wars of 1919 where the US, France, and the UK invade Soviet Russia to prop up the Baltic States, send the Czechoslovak Legion home, and attempt to curb communism!
Glad to see it being covered Yarnhub! 10/10!
I don’t really understand why you are so cheerful of these events. British and French, Americans and even Germans blatantly invaded young Soviet Republic. As if it is okay to just invade other countries. As if it is to be forgotten.
We never forgot this stab in the back, however.

Fun fact, the name "Destroyer" is actually shortened from "Torpedo Boat Destroyer" as they were originally designed to well...destroy torpedo boats and protect the fleet from them
Amazing vid as always!! And I think you should do more about ww1 or the Cold War
Damn snail making the boats OP.
The animation just gets me crazy!
What a harrowing night that must have been. I got exhausted just listening to the story.
