Hey Ryan - recently stumbled upon your channel and your videos and have fallen straight into so much love for what you're doing. Your adventures, the strengthening of your connection to yourself, and your connection with others is exactly what the world needs. When I lived in Boulder while at CU in the early/mid 2000's, I recall many a Thursday night bike-ride with you and your brother (who was friends with my peers/contemporaries of the day). I always knew that you were an interesting person with a ton to give, even though I only knew you from afar. Thanks for what you're doing. It's a beautiful project and your life's work so far has changed the hearts and minds of many, no doubt. Much love.

Thanks for video! And the dose of Anza Borrego, my old stomping grounds. I'm 69 and cycled that section in March 2022. That intersection of the four roads is where Canebrake wash meets Canyon Sin Nombre, then you head NE towards the drop off. A no joke long day. AND when me and my buddy reached the pavement heading north, as soon as we turned west to Borrego Springs we had a stiff headwind of 10-15mph. Arrrg... we rolled into town late, fried, and with sand in every orifice. The desert teaches lessons in humility quietly. Years ago I was backpacking alone on the east side of S2 back in Rock House off Bow Willow Wash toward the Laguna Mtns and came across two young ladies that were lost. For safety I pointed them down the closest wash to the highway, about 1.5 miles, where they could hit the road for help. Respect the desert, and Happy trails!

22:27 that is great shelter from the sun. However, if you or anyone reading this is ever caught out in a heavy rainstorm in a place like that, do NOT seek shelter in a cove in the bottom of a canyon. Seek higher ground immediately. Flash floods happen often in desert rainstorms. That whole landscape is shaped by flash floods. You can die in a spot like that in a heavy storm.

My first couple days of fat bike riding in the snow are painful. Like you said, you can’t hammer it like you’re on pavement with a road or mountain bike. Have to set a whole new slower pace. I’m still adjusting. After only 18-km my shirts were entirely soaked.

I remember the commercial of the crying indian in 1970 as a kid . A commercial of a native American canoeing on a river in the past and parking into the modern future and was upset at what humans had done . That had a profound impact on me as a child as we did not think about things like that . If you had trash in your hands you just dropped on the ground . I later reported oil slick in my local creek to the town I lived in and they actually came out and took a look but did not do anything .
I lost touch with that connection to environment with my parting days but gave up all that and returned to that child who saw the beauty of nature and respected it .
My enjoyment for being out in nature is dashed when I see trash on the trail I am riding . It makes my want to cry like the native American in that commercial .
There needs to be more education for the younger generation on protecting our environment . The balloons and single use plastics is pretty bad .

Very interesting adventure Ryan! You sure picked a tough route through all that loose sand but you never know what the conditions are going to be like unless you have been there before. Loved the ending at the VFW. Lots of good people that enjoy reminiscing about their time in the service.

Perfect timing - I just decided to go ride the Divide (in a couple of weeks) and had just decided I might do the Stagecoach 400 before or after and this confirms I deffo want to - amazing geology.. Funniest thing about that junk graveyard was weedwackers - what weeds in the desert??..

Love your message of embracing all of the journey! Life is full of hard times, challenges, and adversity and if we try to hurry through those we miss out on important lessons and most of all, a good bit of life! Learning to find the beauty even in the tough times is a gift. As I was watching you trudge through the deep sand I was amazed at the realization that here you are, in a world with millions of people, and yet at that moment you were alone out there, surrounded by that incredible beauty and those magnificent rocks. Just wow! Wishing you a blessed holiday season and a happy and healthy new year. And thank you for the gift of your vlog, whether through tough times or good, you are always an inspiration and bring so much peace and kindness to this world.😊

Love the desert, really liked this one. I frequently bike the Everglades and spot quite a few of those party balloons...those are somewhat forgivable compared to the plastic water bottles I find on the trail.

Enjoyed following you on your trip. I have done extensive hiking in that area of the park and I personally do not know how you could push a bike through all that sand! Kudos to you, man. Some advice----if you are going to travel a specified route, you might want to get in touch with one of the local hiking groups there, no matter where you are in the country. They could have suggested places/things to see in that part of the desert that would sweeten your trip. Anyway, thanks for the tour and I'm looking forward to more of your adventures.
