We mostly use it just to level the roads before we pave them.. This video was a 30 mile county project that just called for E-Treatment (Rock) and a Motor grader 3/4 inch Leveling course. We can pave about 9 or 10 miles a day using the grader... the grader is great in this application because of it's length... takes out a lot of dips and bumps.
Looks like a good alternative for county roads like this. Definately not a paver but that's not what the intent is. Looks good for what it is and looks fast too. Looks like a somewhat of a screed on the grader, if you could have an actual floating screed installed on a grader that would make this process really nice.. that and maybe wider rear tires or duals.
There a light coat of tack.. This a very old county road (liquid Asphalt and rock only) so not very much tack needed. On the return trip we drag a used tire on the joint so you don't have to rake it.
That's pretty trick I've never seen those side skirts before. Use to seeing a grader lay a blanket making several passes. Your looters look bored. Why didn't you spray tack before the asphalt?
This was on my job, best leveling bang for the buck! Been doing it for years on County Roads here in Alabama.
That actually looked really good. Maintained the crown too

Awesome job hero....whole lot cheaper than using big paver

Have you seen this used on an asphalt driveway?
I would think it would have to be a longer driveway to be effective. But yes!
Why don,t we see more asphalt leveling like this it miles faster than a paver.thanks
cause the end result looks horrible. no matter how good the grader op is itll never look as smooth as a paver
@@JohnLaco Just takes a little work with the rakes to doll it up nice!
why not level with a paver put a scratch coat on go from 0 to your 2% that's how we do it up north
