    Nice to see that there in America there is a grade crew. Here in Spain, as a motograder operator, you and your machine are the whole grade crew. You usually have the worst labourer of the construction site to discover the stakes and you will lucky if he speaks your languaje.

      Hi Aberto, nice to hear from Spain. The grade crew is a very important part of street building.
      Most of the world, including "Standard General"
      are gradually transitioning to GPS grading.
      The grade crews will get smaller, and smaller.
      Thanks for the input, I hope you don't get too lonely on the jobsite.

    Looks great! What I do is put a paint mark on my Blade at the desired depth, and run it to the curb works every time. Same with string. Almost like a hyper sonic laser just just by hand.

      Yes, I do the same thing sometimes. I keep a "thick felt marker" in my grader. I use it to put a reference mark on the edge of the moldboard.
      Thanks for the input.

      A 160H is a nice machine, if they are well maintained. When you say "plate" I assume you are referring to "blade slides"
      I replace my blade slides (brass) every 3 months.
      If you have a constant air leak, it will eventually take out your compressor. Thanks for watching.

    May I ask you. We have a blend we want to grade in gravel road but it has core stone mixed. Would the grader be able to spread and remove the core stone from the blend? I've learned a lot from you and other guys on how to operate. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    • @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937
      @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you have mix of different size gravel, there is not much you can do with the grader to help the problem. I would suggest using a "drum packer"
      after you lay the gravel out. The drum will push in the larger stones. Good luck on your project.

    Little trick I learned if you put a boot on and you roll your blade back all the way your boot can ride right on the lip of the curb and you'll be able to stuff your curb perfectly to the lip without getting any Rock on the top of your curb then you just hit it with your roller usually it beats down about 17 hundredths.

  • @gq-cw6xi
    @gq-cw6xi 7 месяцев назад

    Start at the curb, then you already have an established grade point then the quarters and crown then work your way to the otherside

      Its not just in the states, our turbanned drivers in Canada do the same usually half hr earlier than expected or at coffee time, if they are booked for 7 am and show up at 630 am i make them wait. Piss on them, do what you are told or go home.

    Why would they want a quarter crown in the road? Weird

    • @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937
      @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937  2 месяца назад

      Hi Winnie, it's a good question, it increases the percentage of grade near the curb and decreases the percentage of grade near the crown.
      They refer to it as a parabolic crown and it is only used in "street spec" but not in "highway spec"
      It makes the grading process more complex, so you may be right, about the "Weird" part.

    • @winnie-zg7ur
      @winnie-zg7ur 2 месяца назад

      I've never seen that in my state lol. It's always 2% crown for the most part
