    I am using an HB graphite pencil on drawing paper with a coarse texture to draw the face of a girl.

      Keep in mind that this is not how u start drawing, as a beginner nwver start with the eyes mouth and nose.

      This is me. When i finish the right eye, i draw only one round for left eye. After that i sign the under of drawing.
      Finally i throw the pen.

      Start with the left eye. You probably right-handed so start with the left eyes and move to the right.

      I would argue you can't really erase when shading. The eraser will just smudge the graphite. You can totally grace when make the sketch and measuring the proportions and stuff. But when you start shading you done really have a way back now

      Anna Mémé im pretty sure he used the basics back then but as time passes u get more confident and stop relying on basic sketches.

    Hatching is so underrated. I love that this was on my recommended feed, your technique of hatching is so relaxing and amazing! Love the textures. What gsm paper is it?

      There are no stupid questions:-) I change the pencils to take a sharp one every now and then. I probably used three or four pencils, I think.

    Yo im jealous of how easily u draw the those eyes like its nothing. It would take me hours just to get the right size and how far apart the eyes are. And thats not including the part where im making it look anything close to what im drawing. 👏👏👍👍✌️

    It's beautiful ! Having two passions, writing and drawing, I tend to neglect one when I focus on the other...these last months I put drawing aside, and I was losing motivation to go back to it. This video reminds how much I like to draw. Thank you !

    Note how he turns his pencil to a softer side for thicker softer shading. When you shade it gives your pencil a small chisel on the top. The sharp points he uses to hatch thin lines. Try not to turn your own pencil unless you need the sharp point, or all of your shading will be messy. If you hatch, you want the lines to be the same thickness. Keep the dull side of your graphite for the soft thick lines and soft shading

    I am watching this video in 2020 ,I have been drawing for 4 months and i enjoy the sketching .
    My favorite sketching are of Renaissance or Medieval time. I joke u not i draw Mona Lisa and to me she came out great. ty for your sketch hope to learn more by your videos

    Its an amazing painting.. thanks for the little tips.. i used ur measurement trick for drawing proportionate features and it worked wonders... Also .. previously i always used to start from the face shape which many people ask to do..in their tutorials. But since i draw with a pen.. drawing face shape first means a disaster... Your method of starting from the eyes and then moving down along with small simple measurements throughout helped a lot...

    Great job! I assume that you're eyes are very keen on geometry without having to use imaginary lines or triangles on paper for drawing.

      Yes, no problem, you can draw faces, figures, all kinds of objects, trees and etcetera in this technique.

    Thank you for sharing your talented art . I also assume there is a lot of regular training behind your seemingly effortless presentations.
    Anyway its so valuable for us to see and hear your commentary. If you would like it could be of great interest to follow a build-up of a face also with a ballpoint pen and in real time. There it would maybe be tiresome to do the voice over....
    Also if you would care to share something concerning your schooling and general art training.

      Hi Peter, as a teen I was drawing a lot. I think most training I had comes from that time. Thank you for your nice comments. Thank you for your suggestion for a ball point drawing. I drew a lot as a teen. Then I went to artschool, The ABV in Tilburg, the Netherlands. After this I concentrated more on studying the old masters/ painting, and the old literature on art.
