The story behind Iggy Pop's performance, is because top of the pops would not let him sing the song live he went out of his way to show everyone that it was playback, lip sync. Iggy Pop, still a sex god
I assume Michael Hurll hadn't seen Iggy Pop do TopPop and being asked to mime lol or maybe he did and knew the performance would be priceless. There is a story of Frankie GTH and one of their appearances for 'Two Tribes' and being told not to use a gun on their performance by Hurll but went ahead anyway and did it and Hurll's response was "oh well, we're live, what are the bigwigs gonna do, take us off air?" so despite some criticisms he wasn't always "square" lol.
hahahahaha doesn't even care about lip syncing, love it
Probably miffed they didn't provide him with a teddy bear to bugger, like he did on kids show No. 73...
Love the fact that Iggy made no secret that he was miming here
How about a close-up for the bass player?
Bass players have feelings too,you know.
Now THAT is how you put on a show!
The windmilling at 1:10 sold it for me
Really good job , Mr. Pop
Thank you 😁🎶❤👍

He had good company in Kevin Armstrong (who mimed guitar with PiL when PiL performed Rise on TOTP the year before)
I remember an old codger wrote in to Points of View complaining about Iggy cos of this !
BTW, cudos to the BBC cameramen for keeping up with Iggy...(kind of)
This is how a musician who only sings live should do. Namely, to dance and indulge, and not try to portray what he sings.
One of the last rock dinosaurs, really crazy , save the rock...Brazil
Kick Ass
Thanks to Mike Smith's family, this is one of hundreds of great tracks we will never get to see on Top Of The Pops .... ever
I wouldn't say "ever".

But Mr Hurll had seen Kevin Armstrong's antics the year before when PiL performed Rise on TOTP
