And you could actually shake yourself free of the restraints. It absolutely blew my mind when I did that for the first time. I thought I did something wrong lol
Some gun nerd details for BO1: The motorbike shotguns are indeed lever actions like that used in Terminator, but somehow Mason is able to fire twice before running the action despite the real thing needing to have the action run for every shot. The shotgun that Woods takes from an enemy before tossing to you in "The Defector" is a Franchi SPAS-12, which would have been impossible for the VC to be using, not only because it is very much an expensive western design that com-bloc countries wouldn't use, but because it wasn't produced until 1979, 4 years after the Vietnam conflict had officially ended.
Yeahh, weird everyone likes to hate on vanguard for its inaccuracies but older call of duties are also historically inaccurate. Then again they ain’t adding no anime skins and snoop dogg to BO1 😂

That body still glowing in the crosshairs happened in a ton of the old CoD games with scripted deaths. You can see it with friendlies and other enemies. Most people probably dont investigate their area after stuff like that happens, but since Castro was in direct sight afterwards it probably caught a lot more peoples eyes.
I think they do this because if they actually made the character die, it would cause the character to spasm a little as it switches between the animation and the ragdoll states. This could cause it do something like falling off the bed, or ending up in a funny looking position, things that would take away from the scene.
I also think that you can explain it in universe, as the scene is a flashback, and it could be reinterpreted as Mason being like "Yeah, Castro wasn't actually dead, I just thought he was at the time."
Yup. The japanese officer who stabs Sullivan in Word at War's 3rd mission also has a red crosshairs at all times. And the opposite also happens, there are friendlies who have scripted deaths but the crosshairs remain green on them, like the dead GI in BO1's boat mission
Actually, my favorite hidden detail in BO1 Executive Order is that, at certain points in the mission, when the action starts, you come out some doors that have enemies giving their back to you. If you melee them before they react, you get a special killing animation. One, pushing the enemy towards some servers I think, and the other is pushing a soldier off the third floor of that same building to his death. They are extremely brief, it is never explained as a mechanic, and probably don't change anything more than a melee kill animation, but they're one of the most memorable hidden details in the game
The same thing happens in WMD, as you're about to reach the comstat in mt Yamantau, a soldier patroling the catwalk which you can sneak up behind and either break his neck or use your knife

@ultimatewolfgaming4171 I'm pretty sure when you start the game and through the duration of Act I, there's one katana in the ground to represent Jin's steadfast belief in the Samurai Honour Code. Then Act II, two katanas in the ground, to represent Jin's inner conflict as a samurai whose had to adapt new tactics to combat an enemy who knows all the strengths and weaknesses of the samurai. Finally, in Act III, one katana in the ground with the Ghost mask hanging on the hilt, to represent Jin embracing the Ghost identity.
@@smg_-nate3138yeah no. It was made abundantly clear in the second to last mission that Mason was hallucinating Reznov the entire time because Reznov messed with his brainwashing. You’re still playing as Mason
Black Ops 1 brings back so many good memories and I didn’t realise there were so many hidden details. The campaign and zombies were amazing, i remember replaying the campaign every now and then just cause it was so memorable and fun.
In my opinion the coolest thing is the similarities between zombies and campaign. The "thing" that is growling in my opinion is a zombie. In the mission where you try to find Steiner you play as a soldier with a gas suit on. Later in the zombies menu you see those soldiers fighting zombies on the island that you fight on. Nova six is a weapon used in both campaign and zombies. In the zombies mode there are zombie crawlers that have Nova six in them. At the end of the campaign you get immediately transferred to the map Five. I understand some of these are simply reused assets but still I find them cool.
Yeah I played black ops Cold War and when bell was supposed o be remembering his memories I went into a basement by a statue and in that basement there were ZOMBIES
My theory to the sounds behind the door at 7:28 is that it's probably the zombie that shows up on the menu screen when you select the zombies mode on the main menu at 11:20.
this WOULD make sense if the zombie in the menu wasn’t just a zombified weaver which obviously can also be downplayed, BUT the noise we’re hearing is a Nova 6 Crawler from Kino/Moon
Something interesting about the screens to your right when you select the zombies mode is that they’ll show a bit of the map Five. When you spawn in, Quick Revive is usually through the open door to your right, but in the cameras, it’ll show it where Speed Cola is supposed to be, which is on the closed door to your left after you spawn in.
The reasoning behind the Spetsnaz zombie attempting to evade your weapon from killing it is because, well, it is a spetsnaz zombie, its gonna try to do that. This actually happens often though with other zombie variations too, from the Japanese zombies getting into a battle stance while shuffling to you from the Nazi zombies to just marching to you in the iconic goose walk, its actually sad thinking about it though, if they were actually fully zombified, they wouldnt know how to do all of those things, which means they recently turned into the undead, and a fraction of their sentience remains in the husk of what they once were. Humans, just like us.
The mannerisms of the zombies is actually a really nice detail in WaW and bo1. Theres a nice yt short going over all of them and how they differ based on the zombies previous lives
Not much of a hidden detail but it’s a cool one if you’re not rushing. During the MACVSOG mission right after you get jumped by an NVA in the Khe Sahn trenches you can see Hudson taking his time beating the crap out of another NVA soldier for a good few minutes while the battle is raging all around him.
Going back to ascension, there are red phones around the map, interacting with them causes one of 4 of the characters on five to answer. Cool enough that five and ascension happen at the same time, and show that the russian and the american people were working on trying to stop this undead force
Black Ops is my favourite call of duty. From the grimey menu to the surprisingly Nolan-ish campaign to the impactful and well made Zombies and the multiplayer which I really does not need any introductions.
Another fun fact related to 4:42, I replayed this mission because of this video to see it myself. If you try to follow Kravchengo and Dragovich, a message will appear saying "you are about to leave your comrades". Which is exactly what they were doing. Also, later in the mission Reznov says that the cowards can be found always as far from the battlefield as possible... And guess who were as far as possible? Just some little fun facts that I wanted to share.
In the Revelations mission, it's not a hidden detail or easter egg or anything, but one fun thing you could do there was that spot where Hudson grabs you, spins you around to punch you in the face. If you walked through the doors backwards, the animation would still play out the same, except you get spun a full 360 and he appears in front of you.
Has anyone mentioned the Spetznas zombies in Ascension also can commando roll? Cause they do on higher rounds when the zombies are more running then shambling.
@@rasianket7220 I figured I’d ask because I wasn’t sure if it was covered or not, but the detail itself sent me in to the moon back in the day with how the Ascension Zombies were most certainly built different apart from the Japanese zombies in Shi No Numa that have the unique walk and run animation, thank you for giving me the heads up btw
2:09 while that might be a reference to terminator, lever action guns were designed to be used when riding a horse, so only having one hand to operate the weapon
COD Black Ops 1 and Borderlands 2 are my childhood games at my dads. Me and my cousins would play those 2 games non-stop for hours. From when we got home from school to when we had to go to bed
Don't know if someone in the comments mentioned this yet, but you missed another easter egg in Nuketown if you shoot off all of the mannequin heads quick enough. It's a reoccurring easter egg in all versions of Nuketown in all black ops games
With the zombies that evade and dodge, on other maps there’s zombies that’ll march, walk in a karate stance, and will run insanely fast because of their chaotic and scary past.
When Woods used the shotgun and fired 2 times you can reload it after but in MW2 2022 there is a mission where gaz shoots a enemy and he chambers a new round in but you still have 10/10 in the mag kinda funny how a detail like that is missing from the newest cod
@jakethemoss240 it saddens me that most games no longer have little details like in gta 5 and the developers instead focus on a big graphical overhaul (with millions of bugs and glitches)
You can hear the numbers on the missions that feature Reznov in Vietnam which references him changing the broadcast to kill Steiner, Kravchenko, and Dragovich
One thing you forgot to mention about the game is that at the beginning of one of the Vietnam missions (I don't know which one), the song "Fortunate Son" is playing. The thing is, the mission is set in 1968, CCR didn't release the album featuring the song until a year later.
I think the growling behind the door in the mission "Revelations" is actually a zombie. Maybe when you select Zombies Mode in the menu, that zombie is released and you can see it behind the window to the interrogation room.
BO1 is an achievement for me because it was the first CoD I ever played, the first and CoD I'd ever beaten, and the first single player campaign I'd ever beaten in any game ever. I guess that's not saying much because the campaign's only like 2 hours long, but for a girl who loves gaming and has a hard time focusing enough to actually finish the games she plays, that was a huge achievement for me. I was so happy, I went back and beat it 2 more times. XD
another detail you can find is in a mission where you go in a rat cave or rat hole (also i forgot thr name of the mission)where you have to go into it with a character name swift now as you prograss through the cave or hole raznov will appear out of no where and mason will react to him they will talk a little and after mason finish talking with raznov swift will say this *what the f*ck is worng with you* indicating that mason is talking to himself
I’m 25 and this shows why growing up with video games was essential to my current version of “who I am”. Oddly enough, I knew all of these. Nowadays these secrets we find are either not there or just not that good. Hats off to any video game in the BO2 era or anything before then.
I just realized, when you select the zombies menu, Mason turns into a zombie, is Black ops 2 is revealed that zombies see everything in cepua color, thanks to the power up zombie blood, also in Black ops 2 the zombie blood youre character adopts the appareance of a zombie.
The red crosshair on Castro, which technically makes his character model come alive, is for obvious reasons. As a rule, this is done in games so that the corpse does not disappear after a while, or, for example, when the checkpoint is restarted. This way, Castro's corpse will remain in the room until the end of the entire mission
Super late, but another insanely cool detail in the roulette mission is that Woods actually sees the round in the side of the chamber when he warns Mason and tells him to take his shot. He wasn't guessing there, and it explains why he had so much confidence saying it.
did you know in sea of thieves when you are in water for a bit then not it'll make squishy shoe sounds when you walk for a bit as you "dry". also kinda glitch but if you have a peg leg enabled you will make appropriate different walk noises than if two feet, well if you have a peg leg equipped but put on a whole body costume that doesn't visually have the peg it will still sound like you do despite the visuals. nothing major but it's my fav game and would love to see it in ur vids. it actually has incredible sound design as a game. oh and you can feed things to the animals you can get as well, usually gets a unique dance/happy animation. if u use controller and hold then pet a cat the controller vibrates as it purs.
1 thing that you kind of got wrong is that reznov might still be alive if you play or watch bo2 than you can see him at the end of the desert mission where he saves mason and woods or mason just hallucinated it again no one realy knows and another thing you could have shown in the video is the times the people around mason reacts to him talking to reznov
@@tomikoivisto but woods cant be shure becuse he was unconscious and someone helped them. masons brainwashing ended when kravchenko died so i dont think reznov died or i think treyarch would have shown it but that is my opinion and i dident say it was a fact that he is alive i pointed out that there is no proof that reznov is dead.
Un alive yourself. There is so such thing as depression, you are just refusing to admit your flaws and want to blame someone else for your failure. Stop being pathetic and handle that failure like you should. This is what you must hear[read] not what you want to hear[read].
Did nobody else notice he kept calling vorkuta vortuga? Makes it hard to believe you can invest so much time into lore and mess up one of the most well known parts of the game
Fun fact: the zombies characters use the models of characters from campaign and so does the multiplayer maps (some) I believe JFK uses masons model Edit: you don’t need to mash the buttons to get out of the main menu chair you just need to keep pressing your aim button and shoot button
There’s a message on the terminal and it says that he knows who hudsen is and a couple of other things. He then says something but it leads to clue you in that it’s reznov. Then with this info you can maybe say that in bo2 when mason was in afghan reznov could’ve actually kept an eye out on mason then actually saved. Sure woods say no your wrong it’s not him. But how would he know he wasn’t conscious.
In the level project nova if you shoot a gun magazine empty as resnoc and reload, he actually has a different reload animation, in that when he inserts the mag, he will turn his gun to the left and pull the charging handle back with his left hand, this is actually how Russians do it because they don't believe in moving your trigger hand off of the trigger.
You know, this could explain why you only cycle it after two shots. That reload was only used in MW2 when you dual wield the 1887, so if we look at the left hand gun, you would shoot twice before you need to cycle it. If they just applied the same code to the single gun on the bike, you would shoot twice and then cycle, but since you only have one gun both shots come from that gun.
Man remember when they actually gave a shit and poured their effort time and passion in the game instead of just treating it like a cash cow an easy money grab I miss these days
I quoted the "Cuba" interaction word for word as well as pausing the video and putting my reading glasses on, taking them off then resuming the video and putting my glasses back on.

I think reznov reprezents masons actually actions and we the player are just watching
@@ultimatewolfgaming4171I can feel the relief of this comment
Really? I was sent to Kino afyer completing the main game. But thats really cool how you managed to see all of this bro.
@@gianncmedina7805 You were sent to Kino?! I've never heard of that happening.
@@chubbyclub2502 Oh Yea it was pretty weird, cuz i didn't know that could happen. Got kinda scared when it did ngl xD
Yeah I played black ops Cold War and when bell was supposed o be remembering his memories I went into a basement by a statue and in that basement there were ZOMBIES
Captain Eggcelent: Black ops was one of my favorite cods of all time!
Also Captain Eggcelent: VORTUKA
My theory to the sounds behind the door at 7:28 is that it's probably the zombie that shows up on the menu screen when you select the zombies mode on the main menu at 11:20.
The voice actually belongs to a nova 6 crawler whitch can be found in zombies.
I was going to say the same thing. It seems like it would make the most sense
this WOULD make sense if the zombie in the menu wasn’t just a zombified weaver which obviously can also be downplayed, BUT the noise we’re hearing is a Nova 6 Crawler from Kino/Moon
plus not to mention zombies is canon now well since mw2019
its not a nova crawler they dont grow like that its from a zombie fromm nacht der untoten@@batmanwholaughs5276
the mispronunciation of Vorkuta has me mildly upset
BRO HOW DOES HE SAY IT LIKE THAT IT HURT
Hudson is so badass he has a guy following him 24/7 with a guitar waiting for him to put on glasses to play his riff
Not much of a hidden detail but it’s a cool one if you’re not rushing. During the MACVSOG mission right after you get jumped by an NVA in the Khe Sahn trenches you can see Hudson taking his time beating the crap out of another NVA soldier for a good few minutes while the battle is raging all around him.
the detail for the scientist zombies is the RayGun doesn’t do the regular amount of damage, or splash damage doesn’t affect them
Going back to ascension, there are red phones around the map, interacting with them causes one of 4 of the characters on five to answer. Cool enough that five and ascension happen at the same time, and show that the russian and the american people were working on trying to stop this undead force
"Need some beans for the chowder here!"
Yeah old Easter egg that Ascension is happening the same exactly time as Five
Sometimes the soldier zombies do a tactical roll on high rounds which makes it harder for you to shoot them
Black Ops is my favourite call of duty. From the grimey menu to the surprisingly Nolan-ish campaign to the impactful and well made Zombies and the multiplayer which I really does not need any introductions.
7:40 i like to think the growling you hear is actually groaning from the zombie they keep back there for when you select zombies in the main menu
Same bro
Awesome vid! This is one of favorite games ever! But one small thing, it's not 'Vortuka', it's 'Vorkuta' ☺️.
1:27 VorTuKa ☠☠☠☠
PD:Insane video, keep doing like that, i felt very nostalgic by the course of the video
Has anyone mentioned the Spetznas zombies in Ascension also can commando roll? Cause they do on higher rounds when the zombies are more running then shambling.
I think this was covered in a video before
@@rasianket7220 I figured I’d ask because I wasn’t sure if it was covered or not, but the detail itself sent me in to the moon back in the day with how the Ascension Zombies were most certainly built different apart from the Japanese zombies in Shi No Numa that have the unique walk and run animation, thank you for giving me the heads up btw
Kino zombies also have the weird March thing going on for them too, and verruckt zombies... well- we know how that ends...
2:09 while that might be a reference to terminator, lever action guns were designed to be used when riding a horse, so only having one hand to operate the weapon
Thought it was the model 1887 from mw2.
Source?
Guys, imagine if there was a level/map, where it's only Mason fighting his way out of the zombie-infested facility.
Gameplay over quality
@@mryesgaming I guess so
@jakethemoss240 it saddens me that most games no longer have little details like in gta 5 and the developers instead focus on a big graphical overhaul (with millions of bugs and glitches)
@@mryesgaming gameplay sucks tho
1:27 "Vortuka" is another insane detail
Another thing about the solider zombie. Some soldier zombies wear the Soviet mm1 gas mask, which was issued to tankers
It's always a great day when he uploads a video on one my favourite games of all time
Funny thing I found in bo2 is that when an enemy drops their gun when killed the gun will be missing some bullets
XD
I'll probably get some hate but, the prison camp is called Vorkuta, not Vortuka...it's something minor just thought I'd point out, awesome video tho
The amount of scrolling to find this comment was amazing
I know right lmfao😂
I thought at first no one else caught it, vortuka started irritating me lol
BO1 is my favorite Call of Duty of all time so seeing you cover it was a delight
8:00 arguably more iconic imo is Hudson attempting to recreate this scene in BO2 before getting blasted in the shoulder in Pyrrhic victory
another detail you can find is in a mission where you go in a rat cave or rat hole (also i forgot thr name of the mission)where you have to go into it with a character name swift now as you prograss through the cave or hole raznov will appear out of no where and mason will react to him they will talk a little and after mason finish talking with raznov swift will say this *what the f*ck is worng with you* indicating that mason is talking to himself
The mission is victor charlie
I’m 25 and this shows why growing up with video games was essential to my current version of “who I am”. Oddly enough, I knew all of these. Nowadays these secrets we find are either not there or just not that good. Hats off to any video game in the BO2 era or anything before then.
Hey the song at 5:00 is from World at War!!
Bro keeps calling vorkuta “vortuka” like he never played the game lmao
“Vortuka” hurt my ears
I'm going to assume it's spelt wrong on purpose?
2:00 during that entire sequence I was literally yelling "I'M ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER"
Makes him cool and I love it 8:01
It’s insane how many time I’ve played the bo1 campaign. Probably the best cod campaign oat
I’ll never forget how defining this game was at the time. I still want this campaign to be a movie 👏🏼
Hey captin egg your videos are eggcellint and keep going you are the best.
Firing range has a teddy bear in the crawling of the garage in the center of the map and two of the “Please Wait” flags around the map from the PAP
Super late, but another insanely cool detail in the roulette mission is that Woods actually sees the round in the side of the chamber when he warns Mason and tells him to take his shot.
He wasn't guessing there, and it explains why he had so much confidence saying it.
1:27 it's Vorkuta not "Vortuka"
did you know in sea of thieves when you are in water for a bit then not it'll make squishy shoe sounds when you walk for a bit as you "dry". also kinda glitch but if you have a peg leg enabled you will make appropriate different walk noises than if two feet, well if you have a peg leg equipped but put on a whole body costume that doesn't visually have the peg it will still sound like you do despite the visuals. nothing major but it's my fav game and would love to see it in ur vids. it actually has incredible sound design as a game. oh and you can feed things to the animals you can get as well, usually gets a unique dance/happy animation. if u use controller and hold then pet a cat the controller vibrates as it purs.
YESSS! I LOVE THE COD VIDS! BO IS A CLASSIC! ❤❤❤
I was 14 when BO1 came out, i played this game non stop after school and in my free time. It was the last time I spent significant time on a cod game
Mason hallucinated it. Woods even tells David/Section that it wasn't Reznov who saved them.
"Vortuka" is a crime against humanity
I’m depressed
Cool👍
Hold on bro
Un alive yourself.
There is so such thing as depression, you are just refusing to admit your flaws and want to blame someone else for your failure. Stop being pathetic and handle that failure like you should.
This is what you must hear[read] not what you want to hear[read].
Cope.
Hi depressed i am not your dad
You kept calling Vorkuta VorTUKA it was driving me crazy!
Did nobody else notice he kept calling vorkuta vortuga? Makes it hard to believe you can invest so much time into lore and mess up one of the most well known parts of the game
What OG DOESN'T know the main menu secrets on Black Ops?
This campaign was so good, Black ops 1 and MW3/Cod 2 were my first console gaming/call of duty experiences and they sure didn’t disappoint
Fun fact: the zombies characters use the models of characters from campaign and so does the multiplayer maps (some) I believe JFK uses masons model
Edit: you don’t need to mash the buttons to get out of the main menu chair you just need to keep pressing your aim button and shoot button
Zombies on its own is and has always been a whole iceberg for every single map
God I loved Black Ops 1 man… was my first CoD, thanks for the vid and the motivation to play the campaign again
in executive order if you walk in front of the guys who you get the uniforms from before you kill them they just stand there and dont care
That’s the only way you can chamber a shell in a lever action shotgun efficiently with one hand
The man watching you turning into a zombie was my fav Easter egg from COD when I was young
Hudson putting on his sunglasses and the Pentagon theme playing in a background is truly an American moment 🤣
I still like how the campaign played out but man knowing Reznov died in Vorkuta breaks my heart !
the motorcycle shotgun reload is almost certainly reusing the animation in MW2, which itself completely certainly references The Terminator.
It has hasta la vista on the gun aswell I saw it covered back in the day
You know, this could explain why you only cycle it after two shots.
7:07 i think that's just a mirrored texture meeting; it looks like a bear but i doubt it was meant to.
3:28 one of the few times they actually paid attention to things like that, doesnt suprise me its in bo1
