I live in Oregon where we vote exclusively by mail! It’s awesome! You can vote when you’re tired or sick in any kind of weather, no lines to stand in, no taking off work, no finding a baby sitter for your kids. We are very informed voters because we get a Voter’s Pamphlet outlining every candidate’s position on issues and who has endorsed them. I have a choice of using USPS or one of the many secure ballot drop off boxes which are conveniently located.👍😊We have a high % of people who vote.

In Canada, I've never waited more than 5 min (its usually the volunteer checking ID that slows it down) for municipal, provincial or federal in-person elections, and polling places are in every major neighbourhood, so in reality we don't tend to mail-in unless we are away from home, because its quicker to walk in...
As an Arizona voter I voted by mail and dropped it off at the local Post Office. Easy Peasy!

The peculiar part about all the Republican machinations about mail in voting is that by putting a us postal service stamp on your ballot and placing it into the postal system you would be violating not only state election laws but also federal postal laws.
They know it's just as, if not more, secure as in-person voting. What they really don't like about it is that it is too easy and encourages more people to vote than would have voted if the only option was in person on election day. If more people vote, by law of averages it makes it harder to massage and fine tune the results in any particular candidate's favor. It makes it more representative, not easier to game.

@@michaelmiami You have to sign a statement on the outer envelope that you are who you say you are. I have been called on the phone saying my signature did not exactly match that on file so I was asked my date of birth to verify.
They were apparently satisfied with this. Possibly they have other ways to check such as drivers license or tax records.

I drove by several polling locations in Phoenix around 11am and there were no lines at all. On election day
Phoenix,AZ resident here. It might be worth noting the following data points. 1) Daytime temperatures on November 8th in the Phoenix area ranged from 55F at 6AM to 81F at 3:51PM. 2) The majority of the mecahnical problems (at less than a third of polling locations) were resolved by noon, at which time the average temperature was 71F. 3) This is Phoenix, Arizona. We're accustomed to significantly higher temperatures. 71-81 is "light jacket" weather here. No one was "forced to wait in the blazing hot sun' to exercise their right to vote. The polling place I used was also perhaps 3 miles from another polling place, so a 5-mile-long line sounds not only improbable, but kinda stupid. What I want to know is this: Why is no one talking about the fact that former newscaster Kari Lake has become, in fact, the embodiment of Fake News? Also, why have we been treating high elected positions (Governors, Presidents) as entry-level positions? Neither Trump nor Lake have ANY experience in government. (Okay, Trump *technically* has some experience now, but what about back in 2016? Why do GOP voters seem to be comfortable with completely unqualified and inexperienced candidates?
GOP candidates don't have to know anything because they don't DO anything except vote the way Mitch tells them to and possibly make up lies about their "investigations." It was clear from Trump's years as president that not only did he not have a clue about the job, he didn't want to learn.
Anyone with an R by their name is acceptable to that lot.

Ok. So three mile line with voters socially distanced 6 foot a part is 2640 voters in line. And they wait 10 hours, so these must have been the early voters. How many people in this precinct? Think of the traffic jam from all the parked cars and those circling the block looking for a place to park.

I live in NJ and since the pandemic have voted "by mail" (actually dropped off my ballot in 1 of 2 drop boxes in my town). It's amazing that there was no line for me and I received a postcard and email that my ballot was received.
So now not only are they crying about losing, but they're crying about how it was just too darn inconvenient to vote.
I have never voted in a general election where there were two different lines one for the Republican candidate, one for the Democratic candidate. So, if the line was in fact, but it wasn't, a five-miles long line it would have impacted both candidates.

When I went to drop my ballot at the voting place in Peoria Arizona, there wasn't a line and only 1 old man in there voting.

I'm thinking they can get water in Arizona, it's the black people in Georgia, the south, the birthplace of "JIM CROW," who unite, and create a sense of community around voting. THOSE are the people who can't receive food or water while in line at voting places. Why does getting food or water while standing in the voting line now need a law against it??? Answer, it's because it is a means of trying to drive voter turnout among black Georgians down. Kicking them off voter rolls, removing drop boxes, shortening early voting periods, is all you NEED to know to see that they are doing their BEST to strip the black vote.Just throw in no food or water while in line in for good measure. Here in the UK, it's a national news story if voters have had to stand in line for ONE WHOLE HOUR - yes, really! - but the longest I've ever had to wait personally, was just 15 minutes :) And it has nothing to do with population size, but everything to do with making it as easy and stress-free possible to cast your legal vote - whether that's all-day voting til 10 pm, polling stations being set up in schools and churches and town halls, mail-in voting, or sending the appropriate polling cards to you automatically once you're registered to vote - and as for voter suppression... say what now? So take note America, of how a nation can *truly* celebrate its democracy - and VOTE!!

I live in ___Utah___, a ‘red’, conservative state, and voting is done by mail. I receive my ballot in the mailbox, complete it, and mail it in or drop it off in a secure ballot box at the local library

I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I'm elderly and can't walk well or stand for long. I receive my ballot by mail and my daughter takes it to the post office for me after I've filled it in. She and her husband voted at the polls and stood in line for a very short time and voted with no problem. Trump is obviously losing it. (Pun intended.)

In the Netherlands all registered Dutch person automatically are registered voters,
And we have voting stations separated 1km or less from each other in every towns and city.
I can chose any of the voting station in my town to go and cast my vote. And the popular vote counts, no electoral colleges with "winner takes all" mechanism.

In Australia it is mandatory to take ballot paper. You can do it nation wide (national election) or by notifying an embassy if overseas. Tends to work well.
We here in America must - must - must eliminate the electoral college. Nonsense it is. It makes no sense now.

Politicians should NOT be in charge of elections: i.e. registration, district drawing, vote counting. Whoever is in charge can put his or her finger on the scale to favor themselves. A panel of judges, for example, should perform these functions.

There is so much to say now. I live in Arizona. I have never seen a line that long even when lines were really long. If they were indeed that long, not only would be all over the news in Arizona but also the United States as well. That's national news right there. But I can tell you right now as an Arizona resident it was not on the news because it didn't happen. I can also tell you as an Arizona resident that Arizona is not hot in November. The weather would not have been an issue as far as standing in line for a long period of time.
Now there have been very long lines because we have tended in this state and every other state to close down polling places in liberal areas and areas that have more people of color. Without replacing them. So the polling places that remain open had extremely long lines. I never heard Donald Trump or anybody else who's complaining about long lines right now ever complain about the long lines before. I wonder what's so different now?

Grampy, how much do you suppose those folks had to pay for their tickets to that posh event? Nothing more than a GRIFT event!! Now that he has declared his candidacy won't he be required to report all monies brought into his campaign? Or will that just go into his account too!!!
