When talking about Behemoth you need to understand that almost all of it is directly aimed at the catholic church. Nergal (Adam Darski, the singer) is a satanist, but he treats Satan as metaphor for a rebel, to deny anything above this life. Everything is about exalting the human being and self improvement, self empowerment.

With newer Behemoth, especially with this album, you need to have a understanding of ancient religons and practices, this song is based off summoning ritual for the Bartzabel,The Spirit of Mars. The dance in the video is the whirling dervishes from the Mevlevi Order. Nergal's death vocal are interesting and he have a video of how he does it. Also while this song does not have the message of treat women better, but women in magical practices are considered "portals" into our realm.

Fun fact, Behemoth are good friends woth fall out boy. Which is dd, but when their drummer got sick and couldnt tour, the fall out boy drummer filled in.
they have much heavier songs too. my favorite behemoth album is The Satanist

This is a cool song I’ve never heard. A good song -and a great reaction.
This is just a standardized style of Blackened Death Metal. Behemoth incorporates lots of death metal aspects within guitar riffs and abrasive vocals but solidifies them in black metal overtones.
Black Metal has always been the most diverse subgenre in forms of topics in lyricism/themes and blending with other genres. While it has an controversial history, it is really interesting genre. The way musical composition expands and is created. Most viewers are definitely interested in musical composition and creativity regardless of theme. Whether if it's racist or not, it is very important to not to take it seriously because it is just an art that reflects an individual's ability to express their worldwide standpoint. That's what makes it creative. It's like entering a dimension you do not belong to.
Great to see how much you like the music but knowing your mbti type, I'm not surprised lol. Black Metal is literally one of the most INTJ music. With it's all straightforwardness and ambition, it's fun to explore.

This song is a pastiche of one written Aleister Crowley about invoking the spirit of Mars i.e. Bartzabel. Its a really cool song because they reflected the imagery of the original narrative so well. Its not satanic, racist or anything like that. It's just an awesome song

I agree on your prejudices. Black Metal has always brought variety to a single scene. As a black metal musician since early 90's, I hope you will open your mind to the old stuff, which defined the black metal. PS: We were playing a concert in Gdańsk in 1993. Who knows, if the Behemoth guys were in the audience🙂

Yeah, there is racist black metal like NSBM but I don't think racism is the most important characteristic of black metal. Worth exploring, even if you don't agree with everything. It's just art at the end of the day.
Regarding Behemoth, this was definitely one of their most accessible songs. The lead singer, Nergal's guttural vocals are some of the best I think in the world of death/black metal. Definitely explore more of their older catalogue. Especially songs from their album, "The Satanist".

Behemoth is great. All of their videos are top notch. Belphegor is another similar band that has a lot of that imagery. And they probably used the woman to summon because seeing something like that happen to a woman evokes more of a reaction. Like horror movies almost always have female victims.

Need to do Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel, uncensored version. It's a masterpiece of visuals, and quite disturbing. Alas, Lord is Upon Me uncensored is also on a very disturbing level. They aren't actually satanic, but they hate religion because of the division it creates, and love to irritate the institutions.....just an fyi.

@@intjreacts Makes me wonder how you'd react to what they originally sounded like, for example the track, "The Dance of the Pagan Flames", early on they had a more organic, handcrafted sound, almost like you dug the tape up from the earth, and wiped away the dirt. Props for even checking out a band like them, while I may not like their current direction, its still very hard music to approach.

Hello, cool here as channel (not a "gatekeeper" style "I think"), and not US even better, I am an old french (so sorry about my bad english writting) Rock/Metal/all UK genres and of course BM fan (not a TRVE BLACK METAL guy I think), but Burzum is Iconic as a BM band (one man band = Varg) and Varg is still my hero, even he burned churches in Norway, and murdered his bandmate in Mayhem, Euronymous (this guy was just shit, and Mayhem too) ... Varg was only fighting for his nordic culture and his gods against christian poeple (and he is living now in France not far from my place, with a french name and identity, poeple who needs to know, know it ...
So when I say old, it's old, I begun with the debut of Led Zep, The Who, Ten Years After, Deep Purple (the 3 first albums, after it's dead for me ...) and so on ...
So nothing to say about Behemoth (all is said below), it's ok, it's just one more anti-catholic BM band, I just had to laugh, because I am always thinking that the singer is Gaahl, but no it is Nergal ... Gaahl was the singer of Gorgoroth (ah this old very good Tolkien ^^) and now after he left prison, he created a new band, "Wyrd" (wich I like).
... And bla bla bla
So I am just here to say hello and subs ... The world is bad, it's not black or white but grey ... Ok great "news" ...

An advice. Don't talk too much during the song itself. Take it afterwards or stop the video. Disturbing and you can't bear to look when you try to listen to the song while you talk. When Behemoth plays, you listen.

It's all very anti religous. Understandably, considering the catholic upbringing of the songwriter.
Also, nothing about this text is racist. However, a lot of Black and Death metal flirts on the edge of fascism and well, behemoth is in the grey area it turned out many years after this song was released.
Nergal seems like a nice guy, but there are sides to that.
