Yeah me neither. I still love his dancing though. Haha I guess you could call me his number one fan. I even have a couple of his iconic suit jackets in my wardrobe.
It's true. The difference between picture and Mr Jackson in the interview was clear as ink: receding hairline, a bigger nose and earlobes, a bit flabby around the jowls and so on...
I love the devious look on Hugh Laurie's face just before Stephen starts dancing. For some reason, I'm so sure that he was the one who forced Stephen to do it. hahaha
IThinkYouLookLarvely: Just a tiny correction for those with Yorkshire roots. It’s not “tweed” we’re now more up to date. You have two words there, t’ weed, it may seem to be just one but “we” know, he is saying ‘the weed’.
Wow, what's so great about this sketch is that in those days it was really quite a small-time show. It's really cool they managed to get Michael Jackson to come on!
blueoystercultforevs Oh my God, you moron, can't you see you're being trolled? If you listen closely, you can hear Hugh at 0:15 address the man as 'Micheal'. Now he MAY do an... OKAY... Stephen Fry impression, but that's just part of the gag. That's the REAL Micheal Jackson, and you'd have to be a complete IDIOT not to see it. DON'T FEED THE TROLL, PEOPLE! Joshuaoha is just being a stupid little troll, I mean seriously, how can you be this gullible?! 2:08 They even ZOOM IN on his trademark moonwalk on that elevated platform! If you look really closely at your comment, you'll see that you have no comedic ability or originality whatsoever and need to stop trying so hard to get the appreciation of random strangers on the internet.
I wasn't sure it was Michael Jackson till i listened to the lyrics of the song, which use the word "girl" repeatedly. Michael loved to use that word in many of his songs over the years, it was one of his many trademarks. Girl crazy he was.
This has to be one of the funniest sketches these two have done. And I love them all. Cried laughing... Stephen's dance... every kid is copying his look. yeah right!! hahaha
That was done by comedian and singer Philip Pope, He's done various music for comedies and did this in a way that sounded like MJ without using any of his actual music to avoid copyright issues.
what an absolutely brilliant and adorable duo. the way they speak english surely makes it the world's finest language. and makes some of us hopelessly in love with stephen fry;)
@Lxxx MXXX You really shouldn't factually- correct someone commenting on part of a satire show, when you aren't entirely familiar with the material. Because it's a good bet they're quoting a joke from the show and you'll look like a bit of a noodge. Stephen Fry: The key to "dancersize," is the rather ingenious coupling of the word "dance," to the word "circumcise." ruclips.net/video/aZUU31kHrnw/видео.html Also, to the greater thread topic, Stephen danced several times on the series., most notable at the end of every episode in Series 3 and 4, when Hugh would play piano and make trombone-like sounds while Stephen mixed a "signature cocktail" while wielding a martini shaker and dancing around in a deliberately doofus-like manner. This followed him requesting of Hugh, "Please, Mr. Music, will you play?"
Would have loved to have been in the room when they first had the idea for this sketch, I bet they were both in hysterics as they imagined the possibilities . I wonder how quickly it was decided who should play each part ? . Either could have played MJ but it was probably Steven's complete lack of physical poise or grace that won the day .... it was certainly the right decision !
i like this, it actually took abit of the sadness away, and i dont think they were mocking him at all, its parody, i think thats what its called. and in a sense, a form of tribute in itself.
Well I'll go to the back of our fridge, that Michael Jacko is a smooth and luscious operator. His dance moves make River Dance seem almost over emphatic.
Five stars! These two guys are too hilarious - I could watch them all day! British humor just gets me! I love it! That treadmill moonwalk - I'm still chuckling over it! And to think it was done so long ago! I think it's a happy tribute to the late pop King. I would imagine that MJ saw this when he was still alive and I bet he thought it was funny too. Great video! Thanks for posting!
They both make me come to tears with their jokes and ironies... they're brilliant!!!! British humour style is much more hilarious than American's, IMO for goodness sake!
There is nothing funnier than Mr Fry's dancing.. I was watching this at night and tried so hard not to laugh because my sister was sleeping. But I failed lol.
I thought at first that the gist of the sketch was going to be the show's producers' unwittingly securing a wrong 'Michael Jackson' for the interview (after all, it is a pretty generic name), Laurie's character would've been dumb and unaware of the mistake until the very end and Fry's character would've been perplexed over his being invited in the first place. :)
It's interesting to note that Stephen Fry really can't dance. Most actors in this role would pretend that they can't dance, but the truth is that successful actors typically can. It's a very important skill. Stephen can't though (at least not particularly well), which makes the casting even better.
They didn’t even bother doing an impression or anything. It’s so bad and yet it’s one of the greatest pieces of comedy you’ll ever see. They were geniuses, and still are.

How insensitive of Fry and Laurie to make this sketch in the past when they DEFINATELY knew Michael Jackson might one day die in the future under unusual circumstances.
I had my doubts it was Michael until he did the moonwalk.
I had similar doubts regarding Neil Armstrong.
@@rickrose5377 Niel Armstrong was the first singer songwriter on the moon.
@@alanwakeish
He's bad, Stephen.
It didn't do the moonwalk at all. He did the treadmill walk.
973 people never watched the video. I am sure the numbers will rise.
It's not just the clothes and the accent, but the unmistakably Fry phrasings, e.g. "Nigh on" that are hard to picture coming from Jackson. Brilliant.
"Sham-on" on the other hand...
16 years after posting, it sweeps in on my timeline. Thank you!
'I was 8 yrs old for goodness sake. I mean we've all changed'.
Comedy gold.
The best of the sketch
Exactly what I was about to say, but I see you slid into the comments slightly before me.
I absolutely love how they aren't even trying to imitate him.
They somehow manage to make the sketch funnier than it would have been if they'd tried harder lol
What do you mean 'imitate him'? It's him!
I have never seen Michael Jackson dance as well as this before.
this is not MJ
Yeah me neither. I still love his dancing though. Haha I guess you could call me his number one fan. I even have a couple of his iconic suit jackets in my wardrobe.
Sarah Unchained and I have a lot of srickers of him, plus,a HUGE poster
Michael Jackson can do an amazing Stephen Fry impersonation...
@@ΚατερίναΚαλαφάτη-ε6π Of course it's Michael. How dare you say such a thing. You must be one of those Michael Jackson haters.
"I was eight years old, for goodness' sake, I mean... we all change!!" LOL!!!!!!
That was the best bit haha
It's true. The difference between picture and Mr Jackson in the interview was clear as ink: receding hairline, a bigger nose and earlobes, a bit flabby around the jowls and so on...

and stephen gladly wanted to do it and did it well.
Stephen? Sorry, but I think you're mistaken. That was the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
🤣
This was 1990, second series. Between MJ's Bad and Dangerous, going through his tweed phase.
IThinkYouLookLarvely Weren't we all?

I was such a fan. I remember I bought a plaid jacket.
@@rickrose5377 That's nothing. This is embarrassing to admit, but...I was such a big fan I affected an English accent in middle school. *shudders*
Was this promoting his "Do Be Careful" album?
The camera panning to Stephen on the treadmill during the dance never gets old.
I love how Stephen can portray anyone without even bothering to dress up or do a fake accent!
I was about to say that 😅
The modern day "man of a thousand faces."
Wow, what's so great about this sketch is that in those days it was really quite a small-time show. It's really cool they managed to get Michael Jackson to come on!
Hugh Laurie is so serious that I actually expected MJ to appear. As a foreigner, I have never seen this show, of course.
love the treadmill moonwalk,classic
I like how Michael Jackson has a pure british accent.
There's no such thing as a pure British accent.

Ethan Macdonald Sorry, I get them easily confused.
Ethan Macdonald exactly! It's a shame Fry didn't get a part

This is one of my favourite comedy sketches! it becomes so much funnier knowing Stevey Fry hates dancing :D
It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen! Fry is a god.
I'm watching this during a lecture...it was a mistake but it was totally worth it!
To have even come up with a premise like this was pure brilliance on behalf of Fry & Laurie!!
Knowing what we know now about Mr Fry and dancing, the last 30 seconds of this clip reminded me of the importance of making sacrifices for my art.
I'm a huge MJ fan and I love this - Fry and Laurie are so funny! :D
Me too, this show comedian is real funny.
I love how people like Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson make light of the "playuhh" thing which tends to take itself far too seriously.
I actually died when they showed the treadmill 😂
If only the BBC released Move It On Out, Girl as a novelty single.
I unironically love Move It On Out, Girl and wished it was a full song, like Fur Q's Uzi Lover.
better then loads of money by harry enfield
The treadmill bit kills me every time :')

Can we just appreciate how these two came up with a comedy skit about a black artist without getting into a blackface scandal. Brilliantly done!
Aaah yes, happy days before twitter etc existed.
I can imagine if this sketch came out now, somehow, some people would be offended and call it racist.
Nooo, it's just a surreal parody.
Imagine being an audience and thought for a moment that they are actually meeting MJ
What do you mean? They did meet MJ
I haven't stopped laughing at this sketch since I was 25 😂 Stephen's weird head bobble when he spins around is comedy gold.
Who the hell is Stephen? The guy on the treadmill is Michael Jackson.
I've still got my Irish thorn-proof.
😂
I just can't understand why 'Move It On Out Girl' isn't on any of MJ's Greatest Hits albums.
While I'm sure Fry loathes this bit to this very day, this is my favorite sketch from the show
The treadmill really sold it for me
Hats off to whoever composed that song, it captures the essence of Michael Jackson well and it’s genuinely catchy!
