- The FAA says it's investigating claims by a Boeing quality control engineer that sections of the 787's fuselage were improperly fastened together and could eventually fail after thousands of flights. Boeing disputes the claims, saying the plane "is very safe" and has undergone intense stress testing. NBC News' Tom Costello reports.

Mr. Barnett did not take his own life. He was killed stop playing around with the truth.
And where is your evidence.
@@ljacobs357trust me bro
@@ljacobs357common sense, something you clearly do NOT have. it’s obvious
He specifically said before they killed him that 'if something happens to me its not a suicide'@@ljacobs357
@ljacobs357 well for starters before he "took his own life", he said "I do not plan to take my life"
STOP saying John Barnett “took his own life” come on, NO ONE believes that do not “report” it, pathetic journalism
We don't know. Just don't know. But his life and work was worthy and not forgotten either way.
Because his mom’s best friend’s daughter claimed he said he wouldn’t commit suicide… ok
Right before he was supposed to speak against Boeing? Yeah, to convenient right their.@willdavis7470
occams razor. why would boeing risk it all for that one whistle blower? show us proof, otherwise suicide is still the most reasonable one.
theres no way they killed him
Hope they don't silence this one.
They will
I hope they don’t murder this person, too.
“Took his own life”. Sure …
It's amazing how quickly they came to that conclusion. This is a high profile death under suspicious circumstances and yet the very next day they were like "oh he shot himself" as if no one has ever been killed and it be made to look like a suicide.
“Boeing Says” - are we supposed to believe that corporations are honest???
Boeing is about to go assassin mode again
Plane we're talking about: Boeing 787
*Shows Airbus A330 blueprint*
They need to protect this new whistleblower by any means necessary.
Crazy that Im reading this 3 weeks later and the new whistleblower did indeed die.
Do you trust Boeing management with your life?
I flew in a Boeing from Japan to New York last night and let me tell you I was terrified. Thank God everything worked out fine and later, I also found out the plane was one of Boeing‘s older ones (773) which is safe and reliable. it’s Boeing‘s newer planes that have the issues.
@@rsvpevents6780 it doesnt matter, why were you terrified? I mean if you are terrified of this you should be terrified of everything else in life. its not rational. even the newer boeing planes fly everyday without any problems, no different from any other plane
Soooooo is he gonna "committee suicide" too?
Car accident.
Apparently an illness…. Another whistle blower died yesterday
NBC stop, no one paying attention believes he took his own life.
Hopefully the investigators can keep the witness safe unlike the case with Mr. Barnett.
If you mute the video, and listen very closely, you can actually hear the bankruptcy coming.
👍🏻🔥🔥🔥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
With no competition around for the 787....😂
Yea that’s gonna happen💀
“Took his own life”??
Show me one, literally ONE person who actually believs that
Please protect this whistle-blower. Buy him a ticket for a safety haven in Europe or something. Those incidents of people dying after they revelead dirty things seem a little fishy.
Bot not a ticket to fly in a Boeing.
Good point
Buy him a ticket to somewhere else? , As if,...Nevermind
RIP in advance to the whistleblower
RIP whistleblower you will be remembered
A week from now we all be be back with the whistleblower mysteriously killed suicide.
It makes me sick how politicians are silent about this on both sides of aisle.
If it’s Boeing, I ain’t goin
Nobody seems to explain what the issue is. The issue is, on some 787, when joining different pieces of the fuselage, these would not fit together, so they decided to push them together as hard as possible and then bolt them in - throughout the plane’s lifetime, those fuselage pieces will be pushing hard away from each other, at one point breaking apart
“Intense FAA inspection” like dude they are complicit otherwise none of this would have happened
All this harkens back to managment being given to accountants and marketting types rather than the engineers that used to run the company.
It’s DE&I hiring. I bet the minute they hire qualified male engineers and male project managers, these issues will disappear very quickly…
@@Chad_Max You know it's a bunch of white men leading the company, right?
@@Chad_Max
Do you lose all your bets ?
@chad_Max that’s the stupidest thing I have heard almost all the top managers are men already
Forget boeing. Pure airbus for me
airbus has issues too mate but go ahead your crash chance is the same on airbus as it is with Boeing
@@topgun1457At least we can fly in peace knowing that the plane we are riding will not have an automatic door ejecting system, and will not begin to crumble after a few thousand flights.
False. Airbus has a significantly better safety record than Boeing; and has done for well over the last decade. Considering Airbus is the biggest manufacturer in the world with more Airbus flying worldwide than Boeing aircraft, that statistic says a lot.
"who took his own life" pathetic journalism
Do you have evidence to suggest otherwise?
@erauprcwa Boeing's lawyers asked him to stay a day later. He also said that if he died and it was ruled a suicide it was a lie. There's lots of evidence.
@@sonicbobomb15 That's circumstantial at best. Also that statement is alleged and cannot be proven.
@erauprcwa Also the fact that it was immediately ruled a suicide when the guy clearly stated he was not suicidal. What about the fact the CEO said that he's going to step down after this year? There's so much evidence against you and the only thing you have to say is "it's circumstantial" no it was deliberate, a murder. 1 day before Beoing's trial. It was clearly the lawyers that killed them if they asked him to stay a day longer and then they find him dead in his car, immediately ruled a suicide without an actual investigation.
What evidence do you have that he was suicidal? None because he said it himself.
@@sonicbobomb15 Many people with depression don't vocalize that they are depressed and suicidal (see Robin Williams).
The CEO stepping down happens whenever something big happens.
Again, all evidence right now is that it was a suicide. The burden of proof is on those who say it's NOT a suicide.
Atleast put protection to the whistle blower.
He was murdered.
'Breaking news' with regard to Boeing has a special meaning 😂
Mr. Barnett. You are an American hero God bless you, SIR!!!
Thank you for speaking out and caring about people’s lives not only in the United States but all over the world. God bless you, sir.
“Boeing says the plane should fly safely for decades”. SHOULD?! 😢
How is Boeing still in business?
It will never go out of business. The US gov will bail them out.
There's only 2 companies building airliners left in the world, they're one of them
@@j.a.3138Exactly.
They get tons of cash from military and space contracts. The "new" SLS disposable moon rocket costs *BILLIONS* each and Boeing is a prime contractor for that clunker.
they are in business because they build very good planes, incredibily safe
SMH they killed tht man smh 🤦♂️
1:57 Boeing is responsible for his life
Never flying a Boeing.
why?
He will get “Boeinged.”
is this a new one or is it barnett? if its a new one we need to keep them under watch before boeing gets to him first.
Car accident this time?
the possibilities are endless. In Russia e.g. it's popular to fall out of windows.
How many more executives need to to be replaced before an overhaul to address safety at Boeing? Remove their Board. Congress should know their stock investments in Boeing is not recovering anytime soon.
They all need to be in jail !!
Changing the board will only be useful if it is dominated by engineers. More than once I have seen people complain that shedding those engineers and bringing in Wall Street types contributed significantly to Boeing's greedy pursuit of proofs.
Im gonna go ahead and say this guy also didn't commit suicide
Why do we need whistleblowers to tell us all these issues?? What’s the FAA for ????
Boeing mostly self regulates. The FAA has become an auditor- they look at records of quality control/ safety instead of inspections.
Is the whistleblower on suicide watch?
And here, we, go... 😂
Are we really pushing the narrative that he took his own life? 😂🤣 We all know what really happened
I’m sorry but why is it so hard to believe that a person with a history of ptsd, confirmed by his own family, would not commit suicide when a major life stress issues is being dealt with. Do you really think it’s more believable that a publicly traded company would assasinate him? Occam’s razor sweetheart…
@@Chad_Maxbecause he said he would never take his life ! They killed that man ! Stop the BS
we dont know what happened, who is we all?
make it mandatory for every Boeing employees and FAA employees to fly on a randomly assigned boeing airplane at least once a year. Boeing pays for it.
I still don't trust any of the Boeing.
Remember that arrogant, "If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going" cliche? Or the Airbus = Scarebus taunt? Not hearing that much nowadays!
So Boeing makes a flying Pinto now 🤷♂️
How has the dreamliner not had any incidents after launch tho?
Oh, the plane model that’s never crashed once. Got it.
This stuff is getting a little out of control.
All Jazeera did a documentary in 2014 on B787 called Broken Dreams and FAA did nothing about it
Not true. They tried to suppress it as best they could.
Did anybody really think this was limited to 737?
Yeah he killed his self because … 😅? Even Ai 🤖 knows he got murdered by Boeing
Took his own life 🤔
Not sure if this is a common issue... but I was on a 787-Dreamliner flying from Amsterdam to Atlanta a week ago, and the AC in the cabin started shooting ice and water all over me and passengers in the front half of the plane shortly before taking flight. I saw it was the Dreamline and couldn't help but feel nervous. Flight attendants dismissed the event.
dreamliners have never had a single deadly crash, they are extremely safe. its just as amazing safety record which is also hard to believe but its true, its that safe
Is this new whistleblower still alive at this time? Or has a clone taken his place already?
RIP
Which Boeing plane isn’t a POS?
At the end metal fatigue should be captured during maintenance
how do they know he "took his own life"? I thought its still under investigation?
Investigation? What investigation?
God bless the whistleblower...it could not have been easy to come forward
And is anyone surprised? Every time you switch on the news something else has fallen off a plane.
Funny how Airbus is having the exact same issue with the A380 but no one makes a fuss about it.
The A380 has an aluminium fuselage which is made in a completely different way
@@12345anton6789 Airbus admitted last week that they are having an issue with gaps developing on the A380 fuselage because some fasteners were not used in construction as designed. Look it up.
Hey Boeing, get it together, man!
It’s never too late for Lockheed to get back into the game.
787 Screamliner. Thank you, I'll be here all week.
They need to protect this man and his family.
Lean manufacturing at its worst, keep the bean counters out of it
I’ve flown on this plane on two round trips to Europe. Glad i don’t fly them regularly
Paper thin gaps in a fuselage that ought not to be there sound scary to me. We should not wait for crashes to make changes.
That statement by Boeing is too slippery for them not to either know, suspect or worry that the whistle-blower is correct.
First response is "Our plane is very safe" LOL classic. Can't even make it up.
Sounds like twa800 warning
He won't survive. He better hide. 😢
They're gonna make a movie about this
Man, the Faa needs to shut them down!!!
00:50 Don't fool people, Boeing. 787 airframes, or all airframes of any aircraft type for that matter, do not undergo "heavy intense testing". They are just pressure tested once before leaving the factory. Like it was done in Alaska Airlines MAX aircraft!
Manufacturer heavy tests only ONE unit for the same type, e.g. 787, 737 at the certification process. Then they guarantee the regulator, i.e. FAA in USA, EASA in Europe, that they will always manufacture compliant to the first sample. If regulator is persuaded manufacturer receives the *type certificate.*
But what happens if manufacturing quality drops in time??
Boeing having more questions raised about safety? You don't say. Wonder how long thus whistleblower will last. Also stop pretending like its normal for someone to delete themselves while testifying.
Safety testing of a prototype is meaningless if the subsequent production planes aren't manufactured exactly the same way with exactly the same parts.
Two boeing planes lost control due to turbulece within a few days of each other. I know Mr John Barnett pointed out different issues but I can't just look away from this coincidence .. RIP John Barnett and also Geoff Kitchen that passed away on the boeing 777 airplane a few days ago.. I'm going to fly with a Airbus to sweden in 6 weeks , I feel a little calmer knowing it's not a boeing ..
Boeing is sounding a lot like oceangate these days
Another whistleblower done signed his own death warrant.
The deceased older whistleblower did not die of foul play. Too many bots.
Ment to be flying on one of these tomorrow.
Wish me luck guys
You made it right?
Nope I was wrong I flew with British Airways A321-231
Lets see how long this whistleblower lasts for... I give it a week before the Boeing CEO's do their thing.
So disrespectful to say he took is own life even if investigations are barely started. Why hurrying so much?
This is way darker then how we paint other countries to be.
This is so sad and scary!
This whistleblower should avoid going to any Dodgers games.
Especially if the SC Trojans Marching band will be performing that day, as well as any work is being done by steamrollers outside the stadium.
“Took his own life”
im so shocked
Composite pressure vessel with wings? No thank you.
I'll stick to flying older 737s and 747's, thanks.
Ill take the train
its actually less safe than taking a boeing plane
software engineers are paid a bounty for finding bugs and reporting them, aerospace engineers are booted if we report a "bug" or might even get killed! imagine if Boeing paid their engineers a bounty for reporting a quality escape hole. You might get tons of notices on all of the flawed things that are ignore cuz nobody cared enough to go through countless rounds of argument with the bean counters and schedulers.
Even Software Engineers at Boeing got ignored when they’re reporting the Bugs !! They’re silenced by the upper management !!
You know I watched an experimental plane from a kit being constructed with wooden parts and glue. This plane was then fabric covered. And quess what? It flew safely! Now if a few people can make a safe plane out of such material, what is Boeing excuse for their issues with a the best materials and highly trained, professional staff?
Guess these weren't as safe as everyone thought.
there is a very good reason to think that, they still havent crashed, not once
