Great stuff, really beautiful. Since the late 80's my brother has lived a few months out of every year hiking mostly off trail in the high sierras. He goes by Yogi. You should be able to find his name a few times in each of the peak registers along the great western divide. Those mountains sure hold some magic.
Thank you John for sharing your wonderful videos! Your passion shines through every captured frame! This is by far my favorite clip. Your editing of first hand perspective is amazing! I can't wait to see more!
Man I'm glad I found your channel. I haven't found a good one in a long time. I appreciate the time you put into editing. That's what I lack in mine. Those views are just epic. Andy
Funny story for you John, I was just playing this video out loud while studying with a good friend of mine. She joked how the song sounded like her brother. Turns out her brother is indeed Jarrod from Rivers and Valleys, small world! Thanks for the inspiring videos!
Yeah! at Ohio University in Athens. Hoping to spend this summer on a long trail. Working on developing a good lightweight kit right now, very inspired by you and Andrew's style!
I’ve been watching so many of your videos since I finished the AT a couple weeks ago! You’re giving me a lot of ideas for what my next adventure could be. There’s so many trails but seemingly little time and limited money!
limited time for sure. as far as money goes, i look to grandpa from charlie and the chocolate factory: “There's plenty of money out there. They print more every day. But this ticket, there's only five of them in the whole world, and that's all there's ever going to be. Only a dummy would give this up for something as common money. Are you a dummy?"
Always like that Pentax 67. But it would be like hiking with a boat anchor. Surprised he still has film for that thing - nevermind a place to process it.
Awesome as always! Really boring question but how did you manage storing all the footage along the trail, were you able to offload and upload to cloud storage in town etc?
This is a really good one, John. The high routes sound like so much fun. Did you encounter any "Class 4" climbing along this part of the SHR, or was it mostly low exposure, basic scrambling?
Hey John, I hope this finds you well. This video hit at a special time in my life. It is cool to see it again. Thanks for everything.
Great video!! Thanks John for always taking us along. You are a bada$$.
This episode might be the best one so far. I'm pretty moved. Thanks so much for your really awesome videos.
thanks! lots of spectacular views to come in the sierra
Thanks from Britain in the middle of a dark, cold, crappy wet November.
i needed that :-)
Magical beauty in those Sierras. Thanks for taking us along.
By far my favorite hiking video. Photography is a revelation

I love binging all of these before hiking season
Absolutely stunning John - watching this in east London wishing I was out there on the trail. Thanks for these beautiful, inspiring videos

The views on and along the PCT are just stellar and the hiking company awesome, thumbs up for Heaps!
You capture the essence of the Sierras in your vids
Fantastic video and some "Wow" moments captured in it. Thanks for sharing.

woah that's awesome! Are you in Ohio? I'm good friends with Saeed who did the beats. Never spent much time with Jarrod but he's an awesome dude.

Красивые виды, красивая музыка и красивые люди. Спасибо🤍
There are few places like the Eastern Sierras. I love the Golden Trout Wilderness. Wonderful videos! What adventures will you be up to in 2017?
The high Sierra has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. At least to me 😊
I just finished the PCT and seeing the Sierras like this is crazy! I'm not sure if I'd rather of this or the 300+ miles of nothing but snow haha
Beautiful hiking! And time spent with a lovely girl was probably pretty nice. It was gentlemanly of you to edit her landing on the creek jump!
"There wasn't really another option... apart from 'not making it.'" @4:30
love this
It's nice to see you hiking with somebody else for a change :)

Thanks for your video through some of my favorite areas of the Sierra. Did you do the rest of the SOSHR?
How do you legs not get cold? Just hiking a lot keeps you warm enough? I’m cold blooded I’d think I’d get cold...
Do you ever worry that maybe you're doing too many miles per day? That is, are you going to fast to actually enjoy and absorb the experience?
never.

+stracheygreg lots of SD cards. Sometimes sending them home to have files transfered to a HD
That was the best one yet... Well done!!!
Hahaha, YES my dude did it with the damn Pentax 67! Good on him. Links to pics?

staying on the route would just be almost all 2 occasional 3. had some higher 3 stuff while avoiding hard icy snow and had some insecure crumbly stuff
Does anyone know the name of the pack Heaps/Ayesha was using?!
SnowTheOwl Its a hyperlite mountain gear windrider mate
Awesome, thanks so much!
I follow her on Instagram! She’s great!
"Peeps" or Aisha is a Kiwi? 👊🏼
heaps/ayesha. yea she's from NZ
