If there is no god how can there be such a thing as theology? Unless it's the study of imaginary gods people believe in. In which case I'd ask the question, what's the point?
I find how Theology gets defined and then what people say it is, makes using the term, given how specific it is at the start, almost meaningless. What makes sense, when first defining it, that it is discourse about God, slowly starts to lose its pertinence when you essentially start saying that culture, social norms and living our lives is also "theology". The question I have towards about Theology is; is Theology based on true assumptions or is it based on fabrication? Namely that, if no God exists, then is the venture of Theology simply an exercise in abstract conceptualisation? The equivalent of a philosophical dogma? The issue I have here is, we already have dogma and various worldviews that man have created and followed, which aren't attached to the existence of any divine entity, such as Stoicism. We aptly call these "philosophies" or "world views" because their origin is entirely from man. But it seems, the same type of thing gets called theological, when it is believed to have been originated, authored or inspired by a divine entity (which is also the driver behind man takes them so seriously). But the belief it is, and it actually being, are VERY important because, if it ACTUALLY does come from a divine being then, OF COURSE it is theology, absolutely! But if it is believed to but, no divine entities actually exist, then they are just philosophies or world views, because, it is man conjuring them up. This leaves us with the question of "does God exist?" I don't believe a God exists, I do not think anyone has ever demonstrated such existence beyond any reasonable doubt. It still remains a hotly contested point today and many arguments and conceptions of God or gods have been debunked and shown false. This to me would make "Theology" a practise of abstract conceptualising and not based on demonstrable truth.
you are a theologian and have theology and many books on the shelf but how many souls have you won to Jesus and discipled in the past 5 years?? I have never met a theolgian that puts the cross on his back and goes out into the real world. When people pick up certain books and study things they get branded or categorized into a certain section. No offence but, if god's existence is not substanciated, doesn't theology lack a subject of study?
I find how Theology gets defined and then what people say it is, makes using the term, given how specific it is at the start, almost meaningless.
What makes sense, when first defining it, that it is discourse about God, slowly starts to lose its pertinence when you essentially start saying that culture, social norms and living our lives is also "theology".
The question I have towards about Theology is; is Theology based on true assumptions or is it based on fabrication? Namely that, if no God exists, then is the venture of Theology simply an exercise in abstract conceptualisation? The equivalent of a philosophical dogma?
The issue I have here is, we already have dogma and various worldviews that man have created and followed, which aren't attached to the existence of any divine entity, such as Stoicism. We aptly call these "philosophies" or "world views" because their origin is entirely from man. But it seems, the same type of thing gets called theological, when it is believed to have been originated, authored or inspired by a divine entity (which is also the driver behind man takes them so seriously). But the belief it is, and it actually being, are VERY important because, if it ACTUALLY does come from a divine being then, OF COURSE it is theology, absolutely! But if it is believed to but, no divine entities actually exist, then they are just philosophies or world views, because, it is man conjuring them up.
This leaves us with the question of "does God exist?" I don't believe a God exists, I do not think anyone has ever demonstrated such existence beyond any reasonable doubt. It still remains a hotly contested point today and many arguments and conceptions of God or gods have been debunked and shown false. This to me would make "Theology" a practise of abstract conceptualising and not based on demonstrable truth.
you are a theologian and have theology and many books on the shelf but how many souls have you won to Jesus and discipled in the past 5 years?? I have never met a theolgian that puts the cross on his back and goes out into the real world. Thats the reason why in this Generation there are a ton of seminaries and bible colleges yet the vast majority of the world does not know Jesus and are going to hell...... think about it. The saddest thing is that With all those books on the shelf you will fail to grasp this simple truth. 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel'

🤔Hmmm. It's easy to comprehend why people have certain views. There's a lot of misinformation and propaganda.
When people pick up certain books and study things they get branded or categorized into a certain section.
Catholicism :Luciferianism, Satanism, AntiChristianity.
🤔Then people do a little history and realize Jesus Christ was stabbed with a Roman's spear. Still didn't die. More studying shows why.
When you see a person with a Quran... some think he/she is Muslim/Islamist.
Same happens with a Bible or a Torah.
More research shows it's relative. Just in a different language.
Sociology is a completely superficial science. In my opinion a waste of time. Because people change. Whether by realizing the truth. Or discernment of their history by fact.
I studied demonology when I was a boy a right of passage. That's just on sliver of what's in the Bible. Then with language studies you realize some terms have root words and having a language barrier definitely complicates things.
While studying the Bible there is also Angelology. Tribes of men and Women and their (Angle) interactions.
Complementary to other things in history the biggest to remember is when someone figures out the truth... misinformation doesn't work. Theology is definitely in everything. The fact that God (Jesus) is mentioned in literally everything is important.
The hammer comes down with one simple question after knowing history and there is so much. It's why people don't talk about religion and politics at the dinner table. Some are still reading and learning.
And no I'm not a Catholic. But you have to read to know what is what, who is whom.
