Housing should be forbidden from being owned by public investment. Especially the elderly care places. These should not be used as investment vehicles.

Landlords are running a business. Like any other. It never seems to occur to people the costs of their properties rise just like all of your. My property taxes have gone up $1500 in the past 2 years on a 2000 sq foot home. Home owners insurance up 25%. Now, imagine how much it goes up for a huge place like that. Rent goes up.
Yes, a lot of People are being made homeless too, this is going on all over! Even more difficult for those on fixed incomes.
Damn shame. The elderly will soon be the face of homelessness.
Just more humans to be ignored while society steps over them on the busy streets of Atlanta.

I honestly believe that is what the Covid-19 was for. To kill off as many elderly as they could. Now just raise the cost of living as high as they can and that should take care of a lot more. A lot of seniors already have to choose between food or medicine. So sad.
It’s already happening in a lot of cities. What’s even worse are homeless veterans.
Seniors (who've worked most of their lives) don't need these added stresses and worries. $2,900/mo for a one bdrm apt? They'd been better off as paid-off homeowners if their health insurance allowed for periodic visits or a live-in health care worker. Independent living is better than chancing abusive nursing home living, anyday. This is so awful...

Hungry isn’t the word for it. So many seniors and people with disabilities are on a fixed income. They quite literally one paycheck or emergency away from being homeless.

Landlords pull this all the time. We had one try to raise our rent from 900 to 1200 back in 2018. We left and thankfully were able to opt for a mortage that was much cheaper...they are so desperate for cash...should not be legal
A relative of mine had his rent raised from $800 to $1,500 in Indiana of all places. Of course, he moved but into a much more shady part of town just to have a roof over his poor old senior 20 year veteran head. This was a new owner, one of those foreign kind, nearly non-English speaking landlord, with big $$$$$$$$$$ signs in their eyes.

We are living in the days where wrong is considered right and the right thing to do is consider wrong. We're gonna have to start looking out for each other.40 years ago 2 of my coworkers and I became best of friends We would tease each other about Living like the golden girls or under a bridge. They had rent increases But I had a house And they are now my roommates. Where all seniors, We take care of each other.

I am a senior and living in a senior living community in Maryland our rent is increased every year that we get a raise in social security, but we get help from the government.

I hope everyone sees that this is an attack on working class or middle class Americans. We are so focused on being divided with politics and no I'm not political at all BUT Republicans hate social safety nets which specifically directly affects seniors. For instance, as a Christian I am pro-life but what is being pro-life if it doesn't honor life from the cradle to the grave. United we stand, divided we fall.
It’s deep what you just said is the reason why they killed Martin Luther King everybody thinks it’s because he was fighting for black peoples rights is because he want to do the poor peoples march in Washington D. C. and they didn’t want them to do that so they had to get rid of him.

That’s what many retirees are already doing. Mexico is a great place to stretch your wallet.

How sad! And I see more and more stories like this.
That's why I don't understand the whole "don't buy a home/renting is cheaper than a mortgage" movement. Maybe this will work for very well off individuals who can keep up with the constant increases, but I'm scared out of my mind to still be renting as a senior. Being on a fixed income and your rent constantly rising, I don't want to worry about where the extra money will come from each time the rent increases. And the way things are looking, it's actually easier to rent than buy, but I don't care if I have to just buy me a trailer and have a storm shelter installed out in the yard; I refuse to enter my senior years renting from these tyrants. Best of luck to these poor folks 💕😢💕

Amen. This is a shame. These seniors shouldn't live out their days w/o this kind of stress. No one should have to deal with this, but as long as there are greedy, sinful people, we will. Prov. 28:22 I pray for justice and for God to give them revelation and the ability to come together and support one another for such a time as this. That it would cause seniors to cry out to God. Ex. 22:22 I pray that all his needs be met. Both medicinal and an affordable home. So that which was meant for evil will turn to good. Psalm 82:3, Prov. 15:27 I wonder if he has any family that might help him. I hope we get an update.

Its happened all over! Citizens Square Villas in Dallas increased an additional $500-700/month when the new owners took over in 2023!
Many are owned by corporate landlords especially in Atlanta and Charlotte by Canadian investors. Why?

Homeowners in Spalding County have recently seen huge increases..many over 40% in assessments along with an increase in millage rate.
The assessments have been out of control in many counties and yet no improvements city wise

Yes, if you happen love sleeping out on the ground under bridges or on the street or in a tent if you're lucky, come rain, shine, snow, sleet or tornados, earthquakes, and hurricanes. You also have to love pooping on the street, never taking a bath, and begging for pennies if you happen to enjoy eating. Wearing rags and going shoeless may also be fun to you. Can these seniors get Section 8 there? That would allow them to have their rent based on their income. The difference in the actual rent cost would be supplied by the government under Section 8.
They should all stop paying rent and let it go to eviction court. It takes months to get them out.

Contact a legal aide atty to file a Americans with Disability claim to see if the new owners will help with relocation expenses.

Senior housing always has a mile long waiting list. Sad but people have to die for someone else to move in. Then there is the seniors that have too much income (for who?) To qualify for senior housing but not enough for regular apartments. A no win situation. Mobile home is great but if the pad you rent keeps increasing the rent forget. Seniors just can't win unless your very wealthy. Most of us arent.😢😢😢😢😢😢
