I think Alex mentioned in an interview that the song is based off his experience when "coming from the dark" and taking a break the technology based world.
Hence the lyrics, "generation information" and "think I've had enough, of generation information, every station, but i can't turn it off" and "you don't need to know what everybody's thinking' and "sold my soul to television".
In addition to how people are make bad decisions under the influence of media and stuff as they "try to hard to be happy". (Well, that's just my interpretation of it)

I disagree. Look at Vampire Weekend's, Local Natives', or Last Dinosaurs' albums, for example. All of their albums are uniquely different but still have the band's sound imbued in it. This song doesn't have the same TDCC sound. I understand the whole "growth and change" argument, but I don't see it here.

This music video might be strange, but I honestly think with their new music, I couldn't love Two Door more. Their 1st album was class, the 2nd album was pretty good but I have high hopes for the 3rd album, and I reckon it could end up being their best. Fuck the haters TDCC your new sound is ACE!

I'm a 47 year old woman who'd never heard of TDCC before now. And I'm loving this song so hard. I literally cannot stop throwing my whole body into it as I joyfully gyrate around my house, making up impromptu dance moves over and over. Such amazing stress relief, both the music and the lyrics. When a song speaks to me like this my body cannot stop trying to move to it. Not just ear candy...for me it's total body candy. This song in particular is a huge gift to me at this difficult time in my life. Thanks TDCC...you've apparently been through hell and back for your art. I hope the future brings many, many good things for you whatever it might look like for the rest of us.

Bit too far away from the TDCC I came to know. Hopefully the next few songs have both an original and new vibe/ tone to it. I understand TDCC want to take a new direction but it's a bit of a shame when a lead guitar rift combined with a bass guitar playing at speed is lost. It's what makes TDCC a great band, the ability to have a catchy rhythm which is consistent throughout and gives people that up beat, want to move atmosphere which electronic indie is all about, and what TDCC is all about- that's sick fast playing rhythm. The high pitched vocals are a no for me personally but I could understand why some would like it. It's easier said then done to combine both old and new and still make original music, but somewhere, Kev, Alex and Sam must have it in the back of their minds that original songs like Undercover Martyn have a magic to it which so far, Gameshow, Bad Decisions and Are We Ready, to an extent, haven't created. TDCC is a great band and always will be and I beg that they'll have at least one song which brings both the old TDCC and the new approach their taking into one.

in the beginning of the song they start off with mushrooms and sex; lesser evils of addiction but no doubt lead to some crazy shit! I feel like these guys are singing about real issues they've had and by god they make a good message sound so good! like if you have over a year clean time!

To everyone saying the new style is a "cop-out" or makes them a "pop-repetitive band", I don't understand at all where you're coming from...their first two albums to me seemed wayyyyy more generic than this song, and I even like those albums and 2DCC themselves lol. It's nice to see them actually doing something different, honestly. Up to this point, they've made music which has a nice sound but is too unassuming/average and close to the style of better bands that came before them (for example, The Postal Service) for me to consider them to be anything more than an average band.
Maybe this album will change that.

It's so weird to me how different their videos/music have gotten in just a few years. Not in a bad way, it's amazing - just very different. To me it sounds like 2 different bands. I love it! I would however love them to get to a place that incorporates new and old, like a lot of bands that stay together for a long while. :)
