I have always called these scissors pelican bill scissors lol No wonder that my sewing friends would look at me like I had 3 heads, but no one ever corrected me 🙂 Yes definitely great in everyday sewing. Since I do not do embroidery I use them for French seams and baby hems (rolled hem)
@@tatyanasurenyan-krech6372 Palette is the Babylock version of the PE Design from Brother, the two are virtually identical. It just happened that I bought it from a Babylock dealer. Very expensive system and a very steep learning curve, but once you know how to use it, it really allows you to work with embroidery designs.
I have a pair too. wish the finger holes were larger. Can get uncomfortable if need to use them a while. I have a 3rd hand that I use along with these for trimming seam allowances. It will keep the fabric pulled tight for easier cutting. This was another good video with useful information.
I am with you with the finger holes, I have also a small version for small details which has this problem. There are larger versions though. But you lost me with the 3rd hand, I hope you mean you have a helper?

Are they good for heavier materials such as canvas and denim? I have small curved emb scissors I use for quilting cotton applique but am needing a heavier duty pair
Well, we are not cutting big pieces of fabric here, the scissors are for intricate cuts when you make appliques mostly and for cutting embroidery threads close to the fabric, etc. My scissors are sharp and they would cut canvas and denim, they cut batting perfectly, stabilizer, felt. I have never used canvas for appliques. But I think it's better to buy brand name scissors, I am not sure about no name ones. Also, there are different sizes of duckbill scissors, so you might look onto it.
I love sewing so this is going to my sewing box I have a pedal seeing machine from late 1800s or early 1900s I worked at at Company sewing curtains the women were surprised because I'm a man
Any scissors can be sharpened somewhat with the needle trick: you take an old needle and pretend to "cut" it. Place it in the scissors at about 45 degrees angle for that. But I think for best results you should try a professional service, even if these are not cheap. It may be cheaper to get a new pair of scissors.
❤️ I always wondered what those scissors were for. Lovely clear demonstration of use. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful, and thank you for watching!
First time I have seen them.
Glad you mentioned that left-handed ones are available.
Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Glad you like them.
Just came across your video, Olga! Thanks very much for showing our scissors in such a fantastic tutorial!

You’re welcome 😊 If you will do applique, these are absolutely necessary. Much easier towor with them than with regular scissors.
Ohhhh fantastic, I'll have to get myself a pair now. I'll need the left handed ones though, lol. Great videos, as always Olga. Lee x
You'll really use it. I also bought it in the beginning just because I had none, but after that I found out I really like it.

Me too! I only learned the "proper" name late in my sewing career. Does it matter how they are called?
@@SewingTutorialsByAgeberry Of course it doesn't matter how they are called as long a they do the job intended for 🙂
@@Sandiegeekno, it matters. Get it right guys
Make a video on how you did that embroidery design
Thank you for your interest. I use Palette 11 digitizing program for my designs, maybe I will make a video in the future, thanks for the idea.
@@SewingTutorialsByAgeberry I own the Bernette b 70 deco machine and I wanted to learn how to do things like that. I’ve never heard of your program.
