In this video, I live for two days in a spring forest on a hillside near a small and quiet river.
On the first day I got to the forest glade, set up a hammock, made a Dakota fire hole for cooking and boiling tea.
Not far from the camp I found chaga - a birch mushroom. It was good, I was able to make healthy tea. The piece of mushroom was large and I decided to prepare it for drying and later use.
I did not take water from the river - I need to clean the water through a filter.
I used a simple and tree-safe method of harvesting birch sap - it's a very useful and healthy drink that doesn't need to be clean and can be drunk raw.
And birch sap tea is very tasty.
Later, I discovered a fresh fallen birch not far away.
This is a lucky find. I made a table and a three-legged chair out of it.
I removed the birch bark and left it to make a container.
When the Dakota fire hole put was filled with coals, I began to cook smoked chicken. I used a cross stick as a suspension and lowered the chicken into the hole. After a while, a perfectly cooked piece of chicken was obtained with a pleasant smoked smell and a very mild taste.
The second day gave me very warm weather.
I cooked fried eggs with vegetables in a pan, had breakfast and proceeded to prepare the Chaga, removing the some dirt and breaking it into small pieces. Left to dry.
Now it's time to make a container out of the birch bark I received yesterday.
Everything is simple here - you need to remove the outer chalk layer and evenly cut two strips. Mark the holes and cut them with a knife. Connect the first strip of birch with the chalk side out and the second with the chalk side in.
And insert one tube into another.
I made the bottom and the lid from a piece of the same fallen birch.
Ready.
Now you can store chaga pieces in this natural container.
Having rested for a while and drinking life-giving tea from chaga with birch sap, I packed my things, moved the forest chair and the table near the Dakota fire hole. I liked the place, I didn’t burn furniture and full up a hole, I will spend time here sometimes.
Thank you for watching!
I always hate to see you start packing up to leave. The minutes of peace and tranquility are a gift. 🌲
It's unavoidable )

What a fantastic woodland you have access to! Great set of tools and skills, I wish birch grew around here, it seems like a magical tree! How it all fits into that pack must be camera-magic too! 😁

Не за что 🙂
as always amazing much appriciated
Enjoy 😉
I hope you are always healthy and protected,, very happy to follow your journey 😊😊😊

Another wonderful, relaxing video! That fire pit method is not one I've ever seen before, and it's extremely clever. I would think it's safer too, as far as risk of the fire spreading to the forest. The birch bark container was so cool the way it came together without any binding or glue!
Как всё по доброму, без суеты.
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
You are welcome.
Simple easy Birch sap to be had, very healthy potion. I do the same in Scotland, there is a abundance of Birch trees. I also use the DD hammock in the woods. Thanks for the video.
Yes, birch sap is good, I collect it every spring.
Spettacolo pace e serenità 😊

When I watch videos like this, it makes me wonder how people can ever truly be “homeless”.
Unless you live in a city, I’d rather go live off the land or die trying than resigning to a soup kitchen till I’m dead at 60.
There is so much more to be gained making it on your own than relying on others. Thanks for the video!
My pleasure! Agree with you.
Not to say a skilled woodsman couldn't sustain himself in the wilderness. However, it's a big difference between going camping of your free will and being forced out on the street. In many countries of the world you are not allowed to live of the land. Not even wander it freely or sleep there. If the thousand of homeless people in the cities went out on the countryside to live on the land I'm quite convinced the governments or landowners would see to that they would be driven away. In other places living on the land may be harder than actually looking for food and shelter in the cities. In civilisation at least someone may hand you food and a bed every now and then. In the forest no one can help you, but yourself, and when things go bad you may die a horrible death.
@@RobinLiljenberg it also makes a difference when the weather is cold, often for months on end , it is a huge extra burden on a human being … and we need fresh water , often very difficult to source.. Also , it’s strange , but the older you get , the more you want to live , you lose the ‘die for a cause’ that one often has in their youth… now I’m the age were I could die in my sleep , I find I want to see a new day dawn etc, even if you live in destitute conditions this is a basic human desire.
Please check out the videos of the filthy, sprawling, homeless camps in the Ocala National Forest (Florida, usa) What these unfortunate people are doing to our forests is heartbreaking.
Keep watching the channel carefully then. We're seeing a skilled (likely spent years developing the skills) man with his quality tools coming camping for 1-3 days bringing his food with himself and still undereats and underdrinks. Under one of the videos, he says he spent *months* reconnaissancing and preparing wood beforehand. This is entertainment content, not sustainable survival. You're welcome to f off and give it a try and then update us on what you think of "resigning to a soup kitchen".
당신의 부시크래프트는 너무 멋있어요😊

Could you boil the river water to make it safe or are there toxins or chemicals in the water? ThankQ for the excellent video. Could you catch any fish, catch, clean & eat them? You move at the pace of confidence and contentment. Hike on Brother, Stay Safe & Hydrated. Eyes Open No Fear
such an unusual and interesting thing from birch! is it wear-resistant or?
It's like leather, only harder.
You've inspired me thanks! Please tell me the pants used, like them a lot.
Nice video.... That chaga mushroom storage thing is great. (Sorry i dont know the name)
Interesting craftsmanship in the wild. Does the water from the tree taste like regular water or it have taste and smell from the tree?
How did you learn some of the techniques. I’m aware some people take courses & others learn thru time in the military.
Very interesting. I’d like to learn more on foraging. I like the container you made
I study articles on the Internet and practice in the forest.
Hi Asbjorn, Just wondering what pack you use and if you could give a rundown of the tools and equipment you use
Cheers
But you know that you should use straps instead of ropes for hammocks to protect the cambium?
What brand is the hammock with the mosquito net ? I like how it’s integrated. Love your work.
Sehr geiles Video mit genialen Sachen die Du zeigst 👍👍 Welche Hängematte ist das? Inkl. Underquilt, oder?
