Yes Shawn Bradley was drafted ahead of Allan Houston but it was clear from college that Allan Houston was a much better prospect. You can make this case for the 8 players drafted after him. If they let him know from day one that his value will be as a defensive anchor and rebounder like how Dikembe Mutumbo was used his career would have been better. And possibly caused him to develop a bit of a mean streak due to his role. He might have learned that saved don’t mean soft.
Only player of that size who had this attributes? Guess you never heard of a guy by the name of Ralph Sampson. If his knees would've held up he would've been one of the greatest. 7'6 and played power forward while The Dream played center. Ran the floor, could handle the ball and had nice outside shot.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, it's pretty typical to see white guys as "nice" or "soft" & to be tested in the NBA. People also are more likely to trip out & escalate shit against white boys. You see many situations where guys get physical, but if a white guy gets physical (or worse, gets the best of you somehow), you often see the person take to swinging or trying to fight right away. It's also kind of funny to see some of when players try to treat these newer Euro players like that & then be surprised when they fight back. They don't feel scared or belittled by the taunting or white boy comments, and just go back at it. Bradley just wanted to play basketball but was constantly targeted for just being a tall white dude. You could tell that would get in his head too, & he knew if he got physical back it'd just escalate to more fighting. He wasn't that kind of guy though, so it's a miracle he stuck it out for as long as he did knowing he was always a focus of others' agression.
this story could have been 10 min shorter. Basically, The NBA had a problem of picking up players who were garbage but tall. So many slightly shorter players who could actually play. You're right. I don't believe in religion. Religion is used to divide. Jesus Christ never even knew about Christianity. It was created years after he lived and rose to heaven. Christianity was an idea that happened to live on for centuries and will forever live on. People use religion to feel better in the moment and to remain hopeful. I respect people's beliefs, but I don't subscribe to anything created buy flawed men. Which we all are. With that said, I didn't write any of those stories you referred to with that in mind. It's just the truth. In Shawn's case it did hurt his physical development. Great assessment though. I respect this comment highly. You're highly intelligent and observant 💪💪💪
Shawn had good fundamentals sometimes getting on right team is key, Rik Smits had davis boys to help me bang with other bigs, Shawn just needed some back up
Bradley cost me a case of Anchor Steam Ale, once upon a time because of a bet I lost. I didn't think he would go first or second in the draft and when he did that's how he cost me a case of that ale to whom I made the bet with. I knew he wouldn't amount to much in the NBA. That's why I didn't think any team would be crazy enough to pick him in the top two. The guy was a 7'6" toothpick! He couldn't put muscle on his frame to save his life and that cost him in the NBA. I mean 235 pounds on a 7'6" body makes you a candidate for the Cambodia poster child of the month!
Shawn Bradley's accident has given him a new perspective on life. Does he have his bad days? Of course he does. Instead of being a giant burden on his friends and family (no pun intended), Shawn presses forward. He has mobility in his arms and hands and does what he can. I believe he does physical therapy to try and regain more mobility. Most importantly of all, he has his faith and his family. What more can a guy in his position ask for?
So basically if it weren’t for him going to the mission for 2 years and just dedicated himself fully to basketball he would have been a star or at worst a very respectable borderline star? Wow that’s crazy. Though it’s his religion and that is something very important to him and his family. And damn i didn’t know about the accident i hope he recovers soon 🙏
Sorry to hear about his situation from the injury, To his credit at least he tried to play defense and go after block shots. In my opinion he was too skinny for elite level competition

Shaq took no mercy on the Stormin’ Mormon 😂
A very humble nice guy.
Sorry to hear about him being disabled now 🙏🏾
Nobody could possibly miss him on that bike
Never would've thought Bradley had any athleticism at all good 1 JC
He was in "Space Jam" so that has to mean something
Stunted Growth? man the guy is 7'6"!!!
Imagine if he would have had kareem work with him in developing a sky hook shot
@@jrsmith1998 He had at. Showed it in the video
14yrs is pretty dam good for a tall man
Wow!! Didn't hear about that. I wish him the best.
Bradley is an icon here in Utah!
Sorry to hear about his situation from the injury, To his credit at least he tried to play defense and go after block shots. In my opinion he was too skinny for elite level competition
The original Shawn Paul lol
Sad story my guy. GOD BLESS and hope u get well soon.🙏🏿
I still have this basketball card from the 90's where Muggsy Bogues was defending Shawn Bradley... Bradley could of literally tea bagged Bogues standing up 🤣 CLASSIC!
That grip at 04:51 proves he was a Freemason as well as a Morman smh
In college he was a beast
We use to say “Big for no reason” & “If I was that tall, I’d go to the League…”. The League minimum is a great starter kit, for people who ain’t had shiz… uKno what imtalmbout
5 seconds of how he got paralyzed buried at the very end.
I blame the Monstars. They never gave him his talent back.
Praying 4 U Big Fella
He wasn't nowhere near a bust
Shawn was a decent center....hope the best for em
He's the guy who kept getting dunked on
You should do one about Jonny Flynn
He was the ultimate dunk bait
Another brilliant 76ers pick.
The end of this sounds kinda rushed.
Kinda get the vibe you weren't a big Shawn Bradley fan. Understandable I guess.
Bradley had very short arms for a player at 7'6".. That made it easier for him to get dunked on.
Too bad Sean Bradley wasn't drafted by the Uath Jazz. I believe that he would have excelled playing for the Utah Jazz. I guess we'll never really know????....
Prayers to him🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Dude reached his ceiling IMO. He was never going to be bill walton, shaq or kareem. Incredibly long player but very soft and played in an era where as a big man u had to be strong and down right mean
My God. How many times did Shaq dunk on this dude 😂
the title of this vid is out of pocket lol
I think he would have done better in the current era. The league is much less physical.
I definitely commend this guy putting Christ first
Do rudy gay next
