- In today’s Furniture Makeover, We are updating two old side tables. I stain the tops in a rich dark walnut, and With The one-step Dixie Belle silk mineral paint, I update the base. I love using the all-in-one silk because it has a primer, paint, and sealer all in one product. This is a classic Furniture flip that any beginner can try. I’m using all Dixie Belle Paint products in this video.

@@FlipItFurniturewhat do you mean trash? 70s-90s was peak interior design, brown colors appeal to the human brain much more than bland artificial white

I hear ya! I started out painting in our tiny laundry room😂
@@FlipItFurniture Lol I have a tiny apartment. Every time I see a cheap piece of furniture I wanna take it home and paint it but I have to remember there's no place to put it haha
Lovely
I’m going to have to try that silk paint. The finish looks very smooth!
Yes, it's a mineral paint. I've used Dixie Belle Silk, Fusion Mineral Paint, and Beyond Paint Mineral Paint. Such a beautiful, durable surface!
It is smooth! I just ordered the color Hampton Olive. I can’t wait to use it.
Amazing
Amazing 💐💐💐💐
Very nice
I'm watching and watching your videos and I'm afraid to start my first project! I wish to have your experience! But I'll do it!!!!! Thank you for sharing your expertise!!!!
You can do this Norma! We all start somewhere. The more you do it the better you will get. Have fun❤️
Muy elegantes, y byautiful 👌👌
Pretty
Wow 😍..
There are about 150 shades of white surprised the hell out of me that there was so many.👍
Those are really pretty. I wish I could afford the paints you use. They seem to do really well.
I actually started using them because they were more on the affordable side. Before I used Dixie Belle, I was using Rustoleum, But they only have a few colors. Then I found Dixie Belle, and 8 ounces for 12.95 isn’t so bad considering I get a couple of projects out of one pot. I probably wouldn’t have tried them, but I entered one of their giveaways a few years ago and won a free 8-ounce container. Now I’m a Dixie Belle addict😂
@@FlipItFurniture That’s awesome. I love the work you do. It’s so beautiful and creative. Your videos are inspiring.
Gorgeous!!!! Was your friend impressed????
Hermosos
Wow.. love it..can you tell me a little more on the three different whites in the silk..and can u use decoupage and transfers over silk..and if yes do u do a protective coat after...lol..sorry so many questions..I'm new at this..
this might be a crazy idea, but those table tops would look great with some jaggedy white stripes. like a zebra
Great job. What do you do with the applicator after that? Do you sand between coats?
Gorgeous, but I would have left the trim in the honey/pine colour.
Why don’t you clean the entire piece first? Why didn’t you stain the edges around the top?
Hopefully she cleaned them off camera or her friend that started them cleaned them before handing over. I think she went about the top painting the wrong way. It would be better to paint all the item including the top, edge first and then sand the edge of the top where any paint got on it then stain.
I didn’t clean it first because I had it outside to sand. I cleaned it afterward. I had to clean it anyway again to get all the sawdust off.
I could’ve sanded and stained the edges around the top but this look is very popular right now and I knew it would sell right away.
@@FlipItFurniture It looks fantastic! I would never have the skill to paint that eging....but I do like the look👏👍💗
Agree. Too risky to clean at the end.
Can you put silk on with a roller and if you can what kind of roller do you recommend? I have a dresser that is all flat and large.
Wow! These cleaned up so nice! My OCD was in its happy place when you were painting the edges. 😂 They look so good!
Hahaha yeah I have a bit of that myself. It can be a struggle sometimes when painting furniture 😂
Thank you!❤️
Can I apply this over a piece that already has general finishes topcoat? Thank you
I’m working on flipping my first project! A set of wood side tables. I haven’t seen anything comparable in my area to figure out pricing. How do you price your pieces?
Wouldn’t the dust from the scruffing stick to the wet top if you do it while the top is drying?
I always do my tops the very last. That way I can be messy with my paint and after it dries, I sand the tops down and it will sand off paint where I dont want it. It's especially helpful for grooved tops like this. Don't worry about the dust getting on the paint. As long as it's try, you can blow it off after. I have a shop vac that I'll put the hose on the intake end instead and it blows instead of sucks. Makes this entire process way easier.
Hello! Do you paint under the tables?
These turned out really nice! What did yoyr friend think when she saw the end result? I admit I initially disagreed with painting the top edge, I think it should have been stained since it's all 'one piece', but in the end I liked this look as well! Where do you buy your hardware, yours is always very classy looking! I hate the hardware at the big box stores!
What is the difference between white lightning and plain TSP?
Would it be better to do the cleaning before you start the rehab on any part of it??
Is one of the front legs of one of the end tables broken?
